MEMORY
CIRCUITS
USING
RAM IC 7489
What is memory?
• Memory is any physical device capable of storing information.
• Temporarily like, RAM (random access memory).
• Permanently, like ROM (read-only memory).
• Memory devices utilize integrated circuits and are used by operating
systems, software, and hardware.
RAM IC 7489
• The 7489 is a high speed 64 bit
RAM organized as 16-word by 4-
bit array.
• Data Inputs are used to insert 4-
bit data.
• Address Inputs are used to select
the specific address for data
inputs.
• There are 4 pins for address
inputs which means we can store
data in 16 different addresses.
• Data Outputs are used to display
stored data in Read Mode and
data while storing Write Mode.
RAM IC 7489
• Memory Enable (ME) input
must be in ‘0’ state to read
information from the memory.
• Write Enable (WE) must be ‘0’
while storing data and ‘1’ for
reading data.
