This study presents the synthesis and application of a novel membrane electrode assembly (MEA) using sulfonated polystyrene for microbial fuel cells (MFCs). The MEA demonstrated superior proton conductivity and power density compared to nafion membranes, suggesting potential for cost-effective and environmentally friendly MFC applications. Characterization methods including FTIR, NMR, and atomic force microscopy were employed to evaluate the membrane's properties before and after fuel cell treatment.
