•The reason I chose this book was
because I have watched the movie and
I wanted to know the book version.

3. The differences between movie and
book
1. In the movie the character of London
was really a bad boy, while in the
book, he was a bad boy but not as
bad as in the movie.
2. The Jamie’s character in the book
was friendly, but in the movie Jamie
was more quiet than in the book.

1. London Carter
Son of rich congressman who lived with
his mother, and he was simply a boy
who did such kind of things that other
parents whisper to their children.

Daughter of Hegbert Sullivan, type of a
girl who loves to read Bible, keep it
with her of the time, simply to help
others, work for the orphans, and such
type of person who remains happy and
cheerful.

6. 3. Hegbert Sullivan
He is Jamie’s father and he is a minister
in one of the church in the beaufort. He
is a kind of a guy who always wanting
to solve us from temptations.

7. Synopsis
• The story is a flashback story. It begins with
London who is 57 years old, he remember when
he was 17. He was a bad boy but he was not a
criminal. Based on his character, he thought that
he would never fall for Jamie Sullivan, a girl who
always brought bible and wore the same sweater.
• One day, there was a school housecoming dance.
London did not get a partner to go there. Every
girl in his town has already had their partner. So
finally he asked Jamie.

8. • The relationship between London and Jamie did
not end here. London can not reject when Jamie
ask him to join the drama that has written by
Jamie’s father. Actually london felt pro and cons
about joined the drama. Pro because he has to
help Jamie and con because he was ashamed, all
his friends mock him because of this drama. But
London still joined until the drama performance’s
day and after it he realized that he loved Jamie.

9. • Then they got closer and often hang out together.
One day Jamie told London that she was sick,
leukimia. Start from it, the story was about how
was jamie felt weaker day by day and how was
London feeling deeper everyday. Finally they
were married. In the end, the story back when
London 57 years and he said that he believe
miracle.

other novel, a bad boy fallen love with
nerd girl and they dating, but in the end the
girl got serious disease and died.

with other novel.
• First, because the novel from London
Carter point of view. So it told about
London’s feeling.

11. • Second, from the girl named Jamie. She
was very kind person. It is told that Jamie
always help people and animal that need
her help. She often went to animal health
center to help an animal that got injured.
Beside that, almost all parents like her
because she was friendly, polite, and
religious.

12. Favorite Part
“I smiled softly and she returned my affection with
a slight squeeze of my hand, as it trusting me in
what I was about to do. Encouraged I learned
closer and took a deep breath. When I exhaled these
were the words that flowed with my breath “Will
you marry me?”
The reason why I like this part because this was
what Jamie wanted in her life and the part that I
waited the most.

13. Ending
• I breathe deeply, taking in the fresh spring air. Though
Beaufort has changed and I have changed, the air itself
has not. It’s still the air of my childhood, the air of my
seventeenth year, and when I finnaly exhale, I’m fifty-
seven once more. But this is okay. I smile slightly, looking
toward the sky, knowing there’s one thing I still haven’t
told you: I now believe, by the way, that miracles can
happen.
• From the ending I conclude that Nicholas Parks did not
tell was Jamie alive or death.

14. • So for me, because I like Jamie’s character, so I
think that Jamie is still alive and from the ending
the word miracle that London said is the fact that
Jamie alive.
