The document discusses the use of various media technologies throughout the stages of a project. In the research and planning stages, Google Chrome was used to research existing products and Microsoft PowerPoint was used to collate research. Prezi was used to create a pitch, but had a difficult interface. Microsoft Office was used to coordinate schedules. Adobe Premiere Pro was used for editing in both the planning and production stages, allowing effects and transitions. A Canon DSLR and Panasonic HD camera were used for filming. Photoshop was used to edit photos. YouTube was used to upload videos for sharing. A blogger site was used as an online project diary.

Launching an ePreferred Approval Plan
Presented on: November 4, 20011
by: Anne-Marie Breaux, YBP Library Services, Nancy Gibbs, Duke University and Aisha Harvey, Duke University
In the fall of 2010, Duke University Libraries launched the YBP ePreferred approval plan to actively increase the library’s eBook collection in support of the library’s current strategic plan Goal 2.1 to “increase access to digital scholarly content in all formats.” After experience with firm ordering eBooks from YBP and a series of changes to the library’s complex approval plan, Duke began adding a variety of scholarly eBooks to the library’s collection using the ePreferred approval plan. The pilot was assessed to determine if building the eBook collection via the approval plan meets the library’s needs. Cost implications, eBook use and feedback from librarians and patrons also played a role in assessing the effectiveness of the pilot. Providing access to these eBooks via the library’s catalog was a key challenge .

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

An EFL lesson about the current events in Palestine. It is intended to be for intermediate students who wish to increase their listening skills through a short lesson in power point.
1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages.
2. Research and Planning Digipak and advert Google Chrome: Researching digipak and advert Search for existing professional media products Really easy to use Tabs allowed me to keep checking back over existing products
3. Research and Planning Digipak and advert Microsoft PowerPoint: Collating research into theorists Put pictures, text and slide transitions in it Not to difficult to understand Slide Share To get my PowerPoint onto my blog Came with step by step instructions on how to upload Instructions on how to embed my ‘PowerPoint’ into my blog Media 2.0 technology
4. Research and Planning Prezi: How I performed our pitch to my classmates. It was a difficult piece of software at first A few tutorials made it become easier to use Media 2.0 Technological determinism. Unable to create an original prezi Set formats within prezi Forced to create in a specific way
5. Research and Planning Microsoft Office: Keep an online calendar between contacts Able to create a draft filming timetable Informed us of dates when we signed into Microsoft Office
6. Premiere Pro Research and Planning: Used in the pitch Able to add different effects to each clip Set effects were easily editable (not technology determined) Able to create transitions between clips from scratch Easily understandable software
7. Premiere Pro Production: Easy to import the video files into the ‘library’ To get the lip sync exactly in time I used the ‘Jog’ bar this allowed me to slow the sequence down. To create slow motion in the clips I had to adjust the speed and duration of the clip. This was not too hard to complete. To watch the music video back with out the files being too ‘big’ I had to render each video file. This was very time consuming throughout the production as it required rendering when we changed the clip slightly.
8. Production Digital SLR: Used for print tasks Cannon EOS 550D Able to adjust the settings to get good shots in ‘manual mode’. Camera has 18.0 mega pixels
9. Production Panasonic HD DV camera: HD format Easy to use settings on the camera Unable to pick up the light in the evenings Auto focus allowed us to continually shoot without worrying about the lens focus For the possibility of a re-shoot I would have experimented with the manual focus
10. Production Photoshop Easy to use/understand toolbars Good rendering effects Font styles ‘Magnetic Lasso’ allowed me to cut around key features I wanted. The image below is taken from my magazine advert. I used the lasso tool to get rid of the unwanted background behind her.
11. Research and Planning I used YouTube to upload the video clips that we used for the Pitch to our classmates YouTube created embed codes which allowed me to post the video files onto my blog Production: To allow my audience to see the music video that I have created I used YouTube to upload my video file onto the internet YouTube took along time to upload the music video because it was a large video file
12. The whole project! I have used Blogger throughout the project to Create a project diary when filming Keep a log of all the progress I have made Show my research into ‘real’ music products and theories Collate all my information.
