In what ways does your
media product use,
develop or challenge
forms and conventions of
real media products?
Our film is similar to other
films:
• Our film starts off with an chase scene which is a
common way of grabbing the audience’s interest
early on.
• Such as in ‘Casino Royale’, the chase scene is
almost straight away. It’s similar as the chase is
happening outside.
• It is also similar to the movie ‘Scream’ as it has a
chase scene in it and is about people feeling
hunted down which is the theme of our film.
Our film is different to other
films:
• In ‘Casino Royale’ there is a lot more focus on
action and stunts, whereas in our film it’s very
simple in the chase scene to be more realistic.
• In ‘Scream’ the person being chased is almost
hysteric as the person chasing them has intent
to kill them. In our film there is less of a
desperation as our chaser hasn’t shown any
murderous intent until later on.
Kept to conventions:
• We have kept to conventions as our victim is female
and the kidnapper is male. This is a stereotyped view
that women are weaker and will be captured more so it
sticks to typical conventions.
• Including a chase scene is sticking to conventions as
they are very popular in thriller films as they create
tension and excitement.
• Our film also sticks to conventions in the way that our
shots provide a good sense of what is going on in the
plot, while still allowing enough mystery to be
elaborated on later in the film.
