2. • Our trailer follows the conventional narrative
structure and it also links to Levi-Strauss’ Binary
Oppositions’ theory , in terms of good and evil. We
did not make it hard to distinguish between the
good or evil character as we fought audiences should
immediately be able to tell.

3. • Our opening sequence starts with a woman running
away from the other character , which is a
conventionally hegemonic representation of gender.
• But we also decide to subvert the convention of a
male playing the evil character as in our opening
sequence we have females playing that part.

4. • Thriller movies such as Se7ven , Drag me to Hell , The
Bourne Identity have inspired us for our opening
sequence. We analysed each trailer and got
inspirations from each one of them.

5. • We also included generic codes and conventions too , this can
be seen in the beginning of the opening sequence which is
also our establishing shot, when we see
the protagonist running down a flight of stairs. Which we had
hoped would keep the audience fixated on what was going to
happen next , it will also lead them to ask questions like and
also create enigma as to, why is she running? or what is
coming after her? This scene is a very common used scene in
most thriller openings , as some may start with
the protagonist running away from something and also the
area around them is isolated which creates a feeling of the
unknown.

6. • We used point of view shots to allow the
audience to see the thriller through the
character’s eyes, which is a conventional shot
used in thriller films.

7. • The audience follow the protagonist and it is like they are being
integrated in what is happening to the young girl .Which is another code
and convention of thrillers. We used different camera shots , angles and
movements to add to the feeling that the protagonist is been watched and
terrified of what may happen next. The fast pace running adds and builds
up the tension and suspense of what is going to happen to this character.
Instead of choosing a older male to play the antagonist , we subverted this
convention in the genre as we choose a young female to play the part of
the killer.
The antagonist is dressed in all black which represents danger, and that
the character is sinister , the use of black also represents evil .Darkness in
thriller films as well as openings are one of the main conventions of
thriller.
We explored different thriller opening sequences and took some ideas
from each of them for our own opening. Like hand held shots when the
victim is again running away from the antagonist.
