The document analyzes 6 shots from a movie trailer about a man named Harry who seeks revenge after his friend is murdered in their rough neighborhood. Each shot is described in terms of mise-en-scene, editing, camera work, and sound. The trailer establishes that Harry lives in a dangerous area plagued by gang violence, shows his friend's funeral, and hints that Harry will take matters into his own hands against the criminals. The analysis suggests the trailer effectively conveys the crime drama and revenge plot to attract male audiences in their 20s-30s.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. Shot 1 the first shot is a extreme long shot that is tilt-
ed down at people outside to show that it is someone
looking out the window and the editing changes be-
tween out the window and Harrys face the back out
the window which is continuity editing and the mise en
scene of that seen gives of the effect that harry is living
in a rough area and you can see this because the peo-
ple outside are dressed like gangsters and they are also
having a fight so that defiantly gives of the mise en sce-
ne of him being in a very rough area and the sound
above this shot is harrys friend saying im scared harry
which shows that living in that area is causing them
trouble
Shot 2 this shot doesn't last long but the mise en scene
clearly shows that the man in the shot is being arrested be-
cause there are people in police uniforms holding him from
each side and the editing for this shot is quick it changes to
another shot very quickly because you don’t need to see the
shot for long to see what's going on and the camera work is a
medium because you cannot see the guys whole body but u
can still see the two police next to him and the shot just stays
still and the sound over the top of that clip is saying your un-
der arrest of suspicion which just shows the audience that
he's under arrest.
Shot 3 the mise en scene shows harry standing over a
grave and a priest which shows that harry is mourning
over his dead friend. The editing of this clip is that it
changes really quick because you can get the impact of
that shot without looking at it for a while and the camera
work is a long shot so that they can fit everything in to the
shot the sound going over that shot is the people talking
in the interview room for the murder of Harrys mate. So
this scene really makes you feel for harry
Shot 4 the mise en scene shows a gangster with his hood up
holding a knife towards harry which shows that harry is also be-
ing affected by the criminals in his local area and not just his
friend being killed. And the editing for this shot changes to a
shot were its from the person holding the knifes point of view
the camera work is a over the shoulder shot to show what harry
is being faced with and the sound over the top is the guy with
the knife saying give us your money man which shows the audi-
ence that harry is being mugged.
Harry brown
2. Shot 5 the mise en scene shows harry sitting in a criminals
house and you can tell that because of how the inside of the
house looks and the person is holding up a gun because of
harry saying how the girl should get help this makes harry
look in danger as well the editing for this scene changes
quite quickly to give you a good idea of what's going on the
camera work in this shot is a medium shot of the guy hold-
ing a gun out and the sound going on over it is the man
with the gun saying shes my business showing harry cant do
anything about the girl and these are bad people he is with.
Shot 6 the mise en scene of this shot is harry stood in a weed
growing room holding a gun pointing down this shows harrys
got somewhere where he can get his revenge the editing for
this shot is quick and its not continuity editing cause the shots
before weren't their. The camera work is a medium close up
that is tilted up so its looking up at him holding the gun. The
sound over this shot is harry saying you’ve failed to maintain
your weapon . So this shot shows that harry is getting his re-
venge on someone.
Analysis of the trailer as a whole
The trailer is 1 minute and 45 seconds long and the information that it gives you about its genre is that it’s a crime drama
with action in it and how its about a person who lives in this rough area and his friend gets killed by theses gangsters and he
wants to get revenge for the death of his friend and get revenge for the trauma these gangs have caused him as well. The
trailer leaves the audience wondering how is he going to get his revenge and what is it that leads to the shot of him at the
end in the grow room and what he did to be their. And I think the unique selling pointy is theirs a lot of films where its re-
venge based but its between gang members this is a revenge film where it just a normal old man who is the one getting
revenge which is think is their unique selling point. I think this film is trying to address a teenager to middle aged men I think
is what this film is trying to target because it is a crime drama which would appeal to a like male 20 –30 year olds for example
but the main character is a very popular actor so it would bring a more older audience.
How this will be useful to the planning of are trailer
I think that this information will be useful to the planning of are trailer because are story's are very similar because they are
based about revenge from someone who is not normally involved in gangs like that but just wants to try take the law into their
own hands so because they are so similar we could borrow aspects from this film like having police dialogue above the shots of
the criminals just to prove to the audience even more that these are bad people.
Pto
3. How it says Michael Caine is harry brown is be-
cause he is a very good actor so that could attract
more people to come watch the film. And how
he is stood is very heroic and has got a gun in his
hand so you can see that he is the main protago-
nist
They have the reviews here because they got
really good reviews they would want to have the
reviews on their poster so that they can show off
the reviews and it would also mean more people
would go see it because they would know that it
is going to be a good film
The fire and the rioting in the background lets peo-
ple know that this will be a crime film with action in
it so that image their in the shadow of harry lets
people have a good idea of what the genre will be
just form the poster. So people who like action films
crime dramas would be intrigued by this poster
The title of the film is
white with the black
background of harry
which makes the title
stand out the most in
this poster
This saying here at the top of the poster is good
because it shows people a bit about the film be-
cause people can put it together and think Har-
rys met his breaking point.
How they put the ri-
oting and the fire and
the carnage in Harrys
shadow while Harrys
holding the gun is very
clever and has lead to a
very visually pleasing
poster.
This poster cant provide us much help when we are thinking
of designing are poster because we have had the idea of hav-
ing are marketing products set up so they look like real police
reports but if that wasn't the case we could have taken inspi-
ration and had are main protagonist standing boldly to draw
peoples attention to him and have some of the gritty gang
sort of images behind him to show that are main protagonist
is fighting back against the criminals because that is what you
can see from this poster
