The document discusses several key attitudes and values of scientists, including:
- Being open-minded and willing to modify or discard hypotheses when evidence calls for it
- Preferring empirical evidence over opinions and making observations directly when possible
- Defining terms clearly and making as few assumptions as possible
- Subjecting their own theories and ideas to rigorous intellectual criticism and peer review
- Valuing cooperation and teamwork in scientific research

Financial Engineering and Its Discontents by Emanuel Derman at QuantCon 2016Quantopian
Neoclassical finance has been with us for over half a century, and its methods have become somewhat uncritically ingrained in the minds of quants. From mean-variance optimization to options theory to behavioral finance, Dr. Derman will discuss which of these ideas work better, and which don’t.

Removing Myths and Fantasies from ScienceJohn47Wind
A growing number of science authors, including Jim Baggott, Alexander Unzicker, Sheilla Jones, and Lee Smolin, have written about the so-called crisis in physics. The ongoing quest to unify Einstein's theory of gravity and quantum mechanics has so far produced a few interesting mathematical models and elaborate sand-castle fantasies, but these have mostly proven to be dead ends. Einstein, Bohr and the members of his Copenhagen team, Bekenstein and Hawking have provided all the necessary pieces. All scientists need to do is put them together. This essay is a recommendation from an amateur scientists on how to do this, explained in easy-to-understand prose.
MATATAG CURRICULUM: ASSESSING THE READINESS OF ELEM. PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS I...NelTorrente
In this research, it concludes that while the readiness of teachers in Caloocan City to implement the MATATAG Curriculum is generally positive, targeted efforts in professional development, resource distribution, support networks, and comprehensive preparation can address the existing gaps and ensure successful curriculum implementation.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Normal Labour/ Stages of Labour/ Mechanism of LabourWasim Ak
Normal labor is also termed spontaneous labor, defined as the natural physiological process through which the fetus, placenta, and membranes are expelled from the uterus through the birth canal at term (37 to 42 weeks
6. “A scientist tries hard not to form an
opinion on a given issue until he has
investigated it, because it is so hard to give
up opinion already formed, and they tend to
make us find facts that support the
opinions… There must be however, a
willingness to act on the best hypothesis
that one has time or opportunity to form.”

he discovered the
craters of the
Earth’s moon, the
moons of Jupiter,
and sunspots.
11. A good scientist starts by defining terms,
making all assumptions very clear, and
reducing necessary assumptions to the
smallest number possible. Often we want
scientists to make broad statements about a
complex world. But usually scientists are
very specific about what they “know” or will
say with certainty: “When these conditions
hold true, the usual outcome is such-and-
such.”

13.
14.
15.
16. Free from prejudice and
receptive to new ideas.
An open-minded person is
the one who can modify plans
or discard hypotheses if it is
necessary.
17.
18.
19. A scientist did not
convert to just any new idea,
but accepted a model that
matched reality better. He
would never have considered
holding to an opinion just
because it was associated with
his name.
20.
21.
22.
23. Empiricism
A scientist prefers to “look and see.” You do not
argue about whether it is raining outside–just stick a
hand out the window. Underlying this is the belief that
there is one real worldfollowing constant rules in nature,
and that we can probe that real world and buildour
understanding–it will not change on us. Nor does the
real world depend upon our understanding–we do not
“vote” on science.

a tenth of a gram of pure radium.
27.
28. Showing the use of
imagination to create new
ideas or things
Disciplined intellectual
criticism that combines
research, knowledge, and
balanced judgment
29.
30. Albert Einstein
was able to
derive his theory
of relativity
because he went
beyond what was
given and known
that time.
31. He saw links and
connections where
others did not. He
looked at the thing s
from different
perspectives and
aspects.
32.
33.
34.
35. John Dalton’s theory was backed by
experimental evidence. He was not the
first to propose that the atom was the
smallest particle of matter.
36. But the first person to
use experimental
evidence to support the
theory.
37. Correlations do not prove cause-
and-effect, but some pseudoscience
arises when a chance occurrence is
taken as “proof.” Individuals who insist
on an all-or-none world and who have
little experience with statistics will
have difficulty understanding the
concept of an event occurring by
chance.
38. Governed by, or showing evidence of, clear and
sensible thinking judgment based on reason rather
than emotion.
Endowed with the ability to reason, as opposed to
being governed solely by instinct.
39.
40. Because of his rational decisions, he
is successful in his reasearches like
the cytoplasmic inheritance of
hypersensitivity to a disease in
maize.
41. Nearly all statements make
assumptions of prior
conditions. A scientist often
reaches a dead end in research
and has to go back and
determine if all the
assumptions made are true to
how the world operates.
