About Verl Zanders
In 2008, MCCC Board of Directors honored Verl Zanders by renaming the
Emerging Business of the Year Award. Verl Zanders was an extraordinary
mentor to small business owners. He used the power of his example to inspire
others to succeed. Verl’s company Z-Tech received the Emerging Business of
the Year Award in 2006. Prior to founding Z-Tech, Verl worked for more than
30 years in the Federal government as a contracting officer and as a small
business representative. Verl served on the MCCC Board of Directors, was the

Since 2006, MCCCF has promoted initiatives for a vibrant and robust economy
that address the important topics of economic development, workforce needs,
health and wellness and transportation solutions. Current research is focused

National Center for Veteran Institute
for Procurement
In 2008, on the 50th Anniversary of the Montgomery County Chamber of
Commerce, the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation (MCCCF)
was launched as an independent 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation is
proud to support educational initiatives to enhance our community and beyond.
MCCCF created and manages The National Center for Veteran
Institute for Procurement (VIP) - the country’s first-ever program
to train veteran service-disabled and veteran owned small
businesses to succeed in the federal contracting market. Today, it is a true
public private partnership with support from Montgomery County, the State of
Maryland and U.S. Small Business Administration to supplement private sector
contributions.
The National Center for Veteran Institute for Procurement Offers:
•	 3-day, 27-hour, educational training programs for owners, principals
and C-level executives of veteran-owned businesses nationwide
•	 Curriculum is designed to increase the ability to win government
contracts by establishing best business practices
•	 Instructed by industry experts and government officials
•	 Offered at no cost to participants
