Watching some of the discussion on corporate social responsibility it sometimes seems like governments, communities, NGOs and everyone else expects to sit back and have somebody (aka business) deliver CSR to them on a silver platter.

Frank Mantero, director of corporate citizenship at General Electric, discussed corporate social responsibility (CSR) and it's role in PR and driving business growth.
The Moery Company is a fast growing company focused on the revenue growth of associations and nonprofits. We specialize in direct sales for membership, sponsorship, exhibit and advertising sales. Our growing research and consulting offerings, help associations compete through business intelligence and optimization. Annually, our company adds millions of dollars to the bottom lines of our clients, while practicing values of integrity, collaboration, and dedication. We are "all in" for our organization clients.
The Rockefeller Foundation has long recognized the importance of meaningful engagement of the private sector in addressing many of the world’s most complex problems. While many social sector leaders understand that engaging the private sector matters, far fewer understand how to do so, or the key questions one should consider before starting down this path of cross-sector collaboration. For instance: Why would a network want to include a company? Or conversely, why would a company want to participate in a network focused on social impact? Can social impact efforts deliver business value? What makes network relationships durable? And ultimately, what are the different needs around accountability, leadership, governance and mindset? To answer questions such as these, The Foundation and our partners at Monitor Institute, a part of Deloitte Consulting LLP, have created “PARTICIPATE: The power of involving business in social impact networks”—a handbook for social change leaders aspiring to effectively engage the private sector as authentic participants in the pursuit of social impact.

Well-established within the Washington, DC, association market, we help solve revenue growth problems for our partner associations, whether it’s membership, product, sponsorship, or exhibitor programs.
Businesses today are increasingly expected to deliver some sort of social value in addition to shareholder value, or, at the very least, to not create harm to society.
Whether they realize it or not, whether they actively manage it or not, pretty much all companies with market, financial or human resource connections to Europe and North America have a Social Value Brand or SVB

CSR is increasingly embedded into business management processes as a strategic tool for risk mitigation and is emerging as a business tool seeking social alignment. Various social and environmental challenges drive business to invest in strategic CSR, which will work to engage stakeholders, mitigate risk and improve social visibility and brand equity.
• CSR is shifting from philanthropy to strategic business planning and management
• CSR is getting integrated into the “value chain” to make value addition by building sustainable supply chain
• Knowledge economy is changing the business case for decision-making

Companies & Communities]
Companies and communities live in shared spaces and
have on-going relationships. Conflicts between companies
and communities are costly and can be misaligned with
company values. So, constructive engagement is key to
avoid those costs and to set up an environment where
your operations are given the green light.
Being able to effectively tackle conflict that flares up is
critical to strengthening productivity and avoiding
unnecessary costs. Even better is getting proactive. Our
services can give you the two-pronged support of proactive
stakeholder engagement and responsive conflict
management. We’ll connect your company and your
community and build a constructive relationship, giving
you a social license to operate.

14. Using Company-Community
Engagement to Ensure Your
Operations Stay on Track
Situation Assessments
You want to know what’s happening with your company and the community
you operate in. Our Situation Assessments can get you those answers. We’ll
identify if any conflict exists, what the community supports of your
business, what the community needs, what risks lurk, and how to best
engage the community in the most constructive way possible.
Stakeholder Engagement
Now that you know what issues are important, what opportunities and risks
exist, we’ll design and implement strategy to engage your community. That
could be information sharing, on-going activities, a grievance mechanism
for when things go wrong, or any other number of ways to best work with
your community and get you a social license to operate.
Mediation & Facilitation
Facilitation is decision making. If you need to get a bunch of community
members and leaders together to determine a consensus solution to an
issue, we’ve got you covered. Mediation is problem solving. When conflict
flares up and you need to find a solution, we can take care of you.
Grievance Mechanism Design and Operation
Problems happen and unintended impact will occur. If you’re ready for it
with a system for identifying those problems and plan to address them,
you’ll be able to catch things early and minimize costs.

Companies

Inside Companies]
Companies are microcosms. Inside companies there are
individuals, teams, divisions, management, staff, supply
chains, vendors, and all other manor of relationships.
Each of these individuals and groups have their own
personalities, values, and priorities. That’s a recipe for
conflict. It happens all over, in all companies, all the
time. Sometimes we can trudge forward, the conflict not
bothering us; often times, however, conflict can hurt
morale, derail performance, and cost cash.
Our Inside Companies conflict management services can
help you grab conflict by the tail and make it work for
you. Our diagnostics, systems design, capacity building
services, and straight up conflict resolution will support
your organization to become a constructive culture with
high performance potential.

20. Governments and societies – made up from so many
smaller communities, groups, offices, departments.
Everyone’s got their own priorities. Add to these
complex relationships external pressures like the
economy, business sectors, neighboring countries; and
transnational issues like migration, water resources,
and disease. This is a complex system, rife with
competition, but requiring collaboration. When it
comes to using natural resources, building
infrastructure, economic development, security and
protection from violence, strengthening rule of law
and access to justice, and ensuring educational
opportunities diverse groups must engage with one
another constructively.
