Team Project
For this project, you will work in your assigned team. Each team will assign a project manager.
The Team Project is due in WBS 8 and the Team Project presentation is due in WBS Level 9.
Instructions for submission of all parts of the project are listed within those Levels.
Background Information
You have just been hired as the new chief information officer for a mid-size university. The
university has recently joined a group of other universities as part of a new alliance. This new
alliance requires the university to revisit its IT strategy, operations, policies, and budget to
optimize the use of Information Technology assets and resources. Major IT projects are
expected to take place in the future. One of these major projects is the implementation of a
uniform enterprise resources planning system to serve the university’s academic and
administration needs. This is a significant category of project that typically takes 1 to 2 years or
more to complete. Even more importantly, you observe that the current organization is
inadequate for implementing this major undertaking. This project will therefore involve almost
every single unit in the organization. Not only will you need to update the organizational
structure, but you will also need to train users on the new system, and work with every single
department to convert their existing data into the new system and make sure that all these
systems are now integrated.
In your first university executive steering committee meeting, you were told:
1. IT-related projects are hurting the university budget. The university has been struggling to
complete projects on time and within budget. Statistics show that:
24% of all projects were cancelled before they are completed,
44% of projects were late, over budget, and/ or missed meeting performance
requirements
Only 32% of projects were delivered on time and within budget.
2. Another problem is that IT-related projects within university departments and colleges are
not planned and executed in coordination with the Information Technology Division (ITD).
As a result, the ITD is not aware of or cannot support several systems.
3. You also gathered from the meeting that most deans and directors believe it is not
necessary to coordinate with ITD if the money is coming out of their budget. They also
believe that they know better than ITD what systems can better serve their needs.
4. In private, the university told you that the relationship between ITD and some university
departments needed to improve. Your assistant chief information officer has not exactly
been the most courteous when it comes to communication with university deans and
directors.
The Information Technology Division that you head is divided into three units:
1. Application Support,
2. Networking and Communication, and
3. PC support.

Case AnalysisScenarioThe Senior Vice President of Human Resou.docxtidwellveronique
Case Analysis/Scenario
The Senior Vice President of Human Resources has just informed you that she would like for you to research various HRM practices of Fortune 500 companies. This research will be presented to the board of trustees next month. They want to review other company’s best practices to help them realign their strategic initiatives. In organizational studies, the process of reviewing other organizations’ best practices and adapting them to one’s own organization is called “benchmarking.”
Begin by identifying 2 -3 organizations listed in the Fortune 500. Once you have identified those companies, research best practices used by those organizations, paying particular attention to these HRM functional areas:
· Recruitment/On boarding
· Training & Development
· Employee/Labor Relations
· Performance Management
· Compensation & Benefits Incentives/Practices
To begin your paper, provide a summary of key details about the organizations you are using to benchmark HRM best practices. Who are the organizations? What do they do? Why are they a good candidate for benchmarking? This section of you paper only needs to be a paragraph or two.
For the next section of your paper, evaluate the pros and cons of the best practices you have benchmarked in each functional area. For example, if external recruitment is a “best practice,” what are some pros and cons of external recruitment? As a guide, your evaluation of best practices in each functional area should be 1 to 2 pages.
For the final section of your paper, justify the top best practices recommendation in each HRM functional area that you will make to the board of trustees. Imagine that you are actually going to present the recommendations to the board. What will you recommend? Why? How will you link them altogether to form a cohesive and persuasive presentation? Hint: Based upon your evaluation of those best practices in the earlier sections of the paper, summarize the key arguments and research support for your recommended practices to justify them to the board. This section of your paper should be 2 to 3 pages in length.
Submit your report as an eight to ten page paper written in APA format to the Drop Box.
Paper should include at least 5 references in APA format.
Research hints…
In addition to searching for the specific organization name “and best practices” or “best HRM practices,” you might find it helpful to search for the specific organization name “and recruitment.” “Specific organization name and training & development,” and so forth. For example, if Walmart is one of your organizations, search terms could include:
· Walmart and best practices
· Walmart and best HRM practices
· Walmart and Recruitment
· Walmart and Onboarding
· Walmart and Training & Development
· Walmart and Employee Labor Relations
· Walmart and Performance Management
· Walmart and Compensation
· Walmart and Employee Benefits
· Walmart and Employee Incentives
· Etc.

Memo to CIO on Success Criteria for Enterprise System
Implementation
Purpose of this Assignment
This assignment gives you the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to research, evaluate, and
explain enterprise systems, and to communicate effectively at the executive level. This assignment
specifically addresses the following course outcomes:
analyze and examine how enterprise architecture and enterprise systems influence, support,
and enable an organization's ability to contribute to strategic decision making and to respond
and adapt to the business environment
analyze enterprise system solutions to make recommendations based on benefits, limitations,
and best fit within the enterprise environment
analyze and explain the elements of a successful plan for implementing enterprise solutions,
addressing structure, processes, culture, and other considerations
Assignment
Your instructor has assigned each group one of several types of enterprise systems (ERP, SCM,
CRM, etc.) to research and prepare a paper and an executive-level informational presentation. In
Group Project 1, your team prepared a 2-3 page paper summarizing the case studies, evaluating
the success of the implementations, and identifying lessons learned. For this assignment, you are to
work independently and write a 1-2 page memo (not including references page) to the CIO that
identifies at least seven success criteria for implementation of enterprise systems, for the category
of enterprise systems assigned to your group (ERP, SCM, CRM, etc.).
Each of these success criteria should be briefly explained and then related to how they would be
applied during an enterprise system implementation within an organization. Some areas to
consider include the structure of the organization and its processes and culture; other aspects of a
proposed implementation relate to the phases of the system development life cycle (needs analysis,
design, development, implementation, maintenance). The case studies your group is using may be
a good source of ideas as well. The criteria you identify must be applicable to enterprise systems (in
the category assigned to your group) and should come from your research.
You are to use a Microsoft Word memo template. The use of at least three external scholarly
resources (in addition to your case studies and other class materials) is required. You should use
scholarly journals (rather than Wikipedia and authorless website postings). If you need assistance
with determining what a scholarly journal is, the UMUC library is a very good source of information,
accessed via the following link: http://www.umuc.edu/library/libhow/articles.cfm.
Remember to correctly cite and reference all sources. Since you are writing a memo, you should
use in-text citations and l.

Assignment 2:
Creating a Use Case
Introduction
With this paper I will show how a use case diagram should be used. I base this paper from fig. 3
– 11 pages 78 – 80 in our textbook titled: System Analysis and Design in a Changing World, 6th
edition, by Satzinger, Jackson, and Burd. In the Use Case Diagram that I make, I will depict a
use case for a RMO CSMS subsystem. I will also be describing the overview of the diagram. I
will also provide an analysis of the characters.
Use Case Introduction
An activity that a system performs is known as a use case. It is mostly in response to the
user. Use case analysis is a technique that is used for identifying the functional requirements of
the software system. A use case is to designate the point of view from a client and customer, this
is a use cases main purpose. An analytical role in the development process is done by the
developer. The other definition of a use case is as an objective or as an actor. Actors are with a
particular system and they want to achieve. In the use case diagram that I create, I will show the
actors and use cases for the RMO CSMS subsystem for marketing.
Marketing Subsystem
RMO CSMS
Marketing Merchandising
Overview
The overview of this use case diagram has the following: It shows the system boundary,
the association and the actors. The one that does the interaction with the system by entering or
receiving data is called a group, actor, external agent or person. Another part of the whole system
are the system boundaries. System boundaries are the computerized part of the application along
with the users who operate it. When a customer places a relationship between certain things such
as a certain employee in a department and an order, this would be a logical association. In my
diagram I have included two actors, one is representing marketing and the other represents
merchandising.
Analysis
The events and actions that define the interactions with a system and the role in order to
be able to discover a goal is a list of actions or steps in an event in a use case. The elements that
make up a use case diagram and the connections that are between a use case and the actors is an
association. This lets us know that there is communication between the actors and the use case.
On the marketing side they need to be able to update / add promotions, production and business
partners. On the merchandising side they need to be able to update / add production information
and accessory packages.
Summary
The important part of a use case diagram is that you can identi ...

Good afternoon classmates and Professor. I apologize for being late with this assignment. I have been busy directing the setup of maintenance operations at a TDY location in Northern Sweden.
I am not sure if I am not using the correct verbiage or if being in Sweden is providing different results than I would normally receive when conducting research, but I have spent hours trying to find sources to utilize for this post. The few that I do find are ~2003 era and I feel are so out of date that they are not relevant anymore. Therefore, I will do my best to provide some thoughts on this week’s topic.
From the course we have read or discussed the roll of the Captain of the Port. Their responsibility is over a single port or a series of ports and provide a single point of command and control for all responding agencies in the event of an emergency like an attack at a port. The agencies could be local law enforcement like the county sherrif or city police, state police, FBI, and the Coast Guard. Through this position, they have certain abilities to control or even stop all operations in the port if it is deemed necessary to prevent, stop, or recover from an emergency situation.
Some of the major ports in the country and even around the world may have a trained private security force that is responsible for the day to day security as well as be able to rapidly respond to an emerging threat as it is identified. This would enable them to quickly eliminate or reduce the threat thereby preventing damage to the port and hindering operations.
Each port should have a port security plan in place to assist in responding to emergencies. The plan should include general information about the port’s facilities, its organizational structure, security levels and associated changes in threat posture, duties of the port security personnel, a communication plan, and responses to security threats, incidents and breaches (Port Facility Security Plan, 2019).
Based on discussions earlier in this course, I believe we have improved our port security operations, but they can stand to be further strengthened.

1. AM I A DELIBERATE DECISION MAKER?
Indicate to what extent the following statements describe you when you make decisions.

1. I jump into things without thinking.
2. I make rash decisions.
3. I like to act on a whim.
4. I rush into things.
5. I don’t know why I do some of the things I do.
6. I act quickly without thinking.
7. I choose my words with care.
Instructions:
To score the measure, first reverse-code items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. So that 1=5, 2=4, 3=3, 4=2, and 5=1. Then compute the sum of the 7 items. Scores will range from 7 to 35.
Interpretation
People differ in how they make decisions. Some people prefer to collect information, carefully weigh alternatives, and then select the best option, while others prefer to make a choice as quickly as possible.
This scale assesses how deliberate you are when making decisions. If you scored at or above 28, you tend to be quite deliberate. If you scored at or below 14, you tend to be rash. Scores between 14 and 27 reveal a more blended style of decision making.
How should decisions be made? The rational model states that individuals should define the problem, identify what criteria are relevant to making the decision and weigh those criteria according to importance, develop alternatives, and finally evaluate and select the best alternative. Though this sounds like an arduous process, research has shown that the rational model tends to result in better decisions.
Interestingly, personality is related to a person’s decision-making style. Individuals who are deliberate and decisive tend to be high in emotional stability and high in conscientiousness, while individuals who are more impulsive tend to be low on these two traits. Thus, while your decision-making style is likely to be somewhat stable, following the rational model should help you to avoid making rash decisions.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

need to research the technology’s capabilities and discuss the
advantages the technology will offer an organization. This
way, you have to be able to assess how technology supports
business.
Assignment Instructions:
7. Imagine that you are an IT manager charged with keeping up
with current technology. Create a PowerPoint presentation
for the chief information officer that provides an overview of
two areas that you want to update based on emerging
technologies. Be sure to provide the new technologies’
capabilities and the advantages they will bring to the
organization.
Be sure to cite all sources used in a reference slide with proper
APA formatting. Be sure to provide at least two scholarly
sources from the CSU Online Library. Your PowerPoint
presentation must contain eight to ten slides; the cover and

Unit VII Essay
Introduction:
The learning outcome for this unit involves the process of
developing an information system (IS) for an organization.
There are many factors involved in this process, including core
activities and the methodologies for managing the
process. Project management plays a part as well. Additionally,
IS development does not happen in a silo; there is also
the business side to consider as part of the process. All of these
considerations are brought together and addressed in
this assignment.

APA Guidelines
The application of the APA writing style shall be practical,
functional, and appropriate to each academic level, with the
primary purpose being the documentation (citation) of sources.
CSU requires that students use APA style for certain
papers and projects. Students should always carefully read and
follow assignment directions and review the associated
grading rubric when available. Students can find CSU’s Citation
Guide by clicking here. This document includes examples
and sample papers and provides information on how to contact
the CSU Success Center.
11. Grading Rubrics
This course utilizes analytic grading rubrics as tools for your
professor in assigning grades for all learning activities. Each
rubric serves as a guide that communicates the expectations of
the learning activity and describes the criteria for each
level of achievement. In addition, a rubric is a reference tool
that lists evaluation criteria and can help you organize your
efforts to meet the requirements of that learning activity. It is
imperative for you to familiarize yourself with these rubrics
because these are the primary tools your professor uses for
assessing learning activities.
Rubric categories include: (1) Discussion Board, (2) Assessment
(Written Response), and (3) Assignment. However, it is
possible that not all of the listed rubric types will be used in a
single course (e.g., some courses may not have
Assessments).
The Discussion Board rubric can be found within Unit I’s
Discussion Board submission instructions.
The Assessment (Written Response) rubric can be found
embedded in a link within the directions for each Unit
Assessment. However, these rubrics will only be used when
written-response questions appear within the Assessment.
Each Assignment type (e.g., article critique, case study,
research paper) will have its own rubric. The Assignment
rubrics
are built into Blackboard, allowing students to review them
prior to beginning the Assignment and again once the
Assignment has been scored. This rubric can be accessed via the
12. Assignment link located within the unit where it is to be
submitted. Students may also access the rubric through the
course menu by selecting “Tools” and then “My Grades.”
Again, it is vitally important for you to become familiar with
these rubrics because their application to your
Discussion Boards, Assessments, and Assignments is the
method by which your instructor assigns all grades.

Assignment Description
As you complete the study of validity, you should be
considering how you will produce a complete research plan
geared towards a homeland security, criminal justice, or
emergency management issue for the final week’s assignment.
Throughout the term, you have been introduced to many
concepts related to conducting social science research. By the
end of the term, you must synthesize what you’ve learned and
produce, execute in part, and write up results of a complete
research plan.
You may draw a topic from any of the illustrations used in past
weeks or any topic of your choosing related to the fields of
homeland security, criminal justice, or emergency management.
Assignment Guidelines
· Choose a topic, and describe why it should be studied. What is
the problem or condition you seek to consider and evaluate, and
why will the results of your study matter for social science and
for policy makers?
1. Find at least 3 external sources that address a topic relative
to yours to produce a miniversion of a comprehensive literature
review. Use journal articles, government documents, texts,
testimony, official manuals, and other credible resources only.
27. 2. Provide each source’s bibliographic reference here in
accordance with APA style guidelines.
3. Summarize briefly what exists—or does not exist—in the
literature review that provides a starting point for your
project. This point should inform the choices you make in
answering the questions below.
4. If your topic seems to be difficult, you may want to start
anew with a narrower focus.
· Create a research question or questions. Look back at
narratives from previous weeks for guidance on this.
1. Identify and explain your research constructs.
· Create 1 or more hypotheses.
1. Fully operationalize each variable. Make certain that this step
is as extensive as possible.
2. Explain how and why your form of operationalization for
each variable will help you avoid the threats to validity you
learned about this week.
· What approach will you employ to study your topic—
quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods analysis?
1. Define the parameters for the population you will study as a
whole, draw samples from, or combine methods for.
1. How will you extend any findings from this population to a
larger one?
2. Fully defend the choices you are making.
2. Explain what research instruments you plan to use for any
28. and all phases of your research.
1. Fully defend the choices you are making.
3. Outline how you will proceed in conducting your study.
1. What forms of data collections will you use, and why did you
choose them?
· Explain the findings you expect to reveal.
1. Consider and forecast the form your data output will be in.
2. Estimate what process you will use to interpret and report
your findings (you cannot do much more without conducting
your research).
· Provide an outline for your entire research plan.
