Integers
NUMBERS AND
NUMBER SENSE
INTEGERS
 What are integers?
These are a set of whole numbers, their opposites
and 0.
Integers are often represented on a number line.
Examples of integers: -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3
INTEGERS
TYPES OF INTEGERS
Integers can be either positive or
negative.The only exception to this
rule is the integer 0 which is neither
positive nor negative.
INTEGERS
POSITIVE INTEGERS
 Positive Integers are written with or
without a plus sign. E.g. +5, +2, 8
 On the number line, these are the
numbers to the right of zero.
INTEGERS
NEGATIVE INTEGERS
 Negative Integers are written with a minus
sign. E.g. -5, -2, -8
 On the number line, these are the
numbers to the left of zero.

INTEGERS
 Positive and Negative Integers are the mirror
image to one another on the number line.
