Notation
Factorial Notation
n factorial is denoted by n!. It is
the product of all positive
integers less than or equal to n.
5! Can be read as “5 factorial”
It means (5)(4)(3)(2)(1) which
is equal to 120.
(5)(4)!
(5)(4)(3)!
(5)(4)(3)(2)!
Factorial Notation
Factorial Notation
1. 5! + 2! = (5
2. 8! – 5!
= (8
= 40, 320 – 120 = 40, 200
Evaluate the following expressions:
Factorial Notation
3. 4! 2! = (4 = (24)(2) = 48
4. = = 120
Evaluate the following expressions:

6.
Evaluate the following expressions:
Factorial Notation
1. 5! = 5
2. 3! + 3! = 6!
3. 4! = 9!
4. = 10
Determine whether each of the following
equation is True or False
Factorial Notation
1. 5! = 5 TRUE
2. 3! + 3! = 6! FALSE
3. 4! = 9! FALSE
4. = 10 TRUE
