Detailed lesson Plan about Subtraction (Math Kinder 2)
I. OBJECTIVE
General Objective
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to understand the concept of subtraction.
Specific Objective
a. identify and understand how subtraction works.
b. Value the importance of knowing the subtraction by applying it in real life.
c. Subtract single digit numbers using objects by counting to find the difference.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Subtraction
Reference: Subtraction, kinder 2, Chapter 13, page 255-258

Materials: Video clips, Printed pictures

III. PROCEDURE

1. Prayer
Before we start our class today, let us have the
guidance of our Lord.
Are you ready to pray? Okay close your eyes and
bow your head.
2. GREETINGS
Good morning Kinder.
“It’s nice to see you again”

(The teacher will play a song Chikading)
4. House Rules
“Before we start our discussion what is our 3
House Rules?”
“Okay! STOP talking, LOOK at your teacher and
LISTEN to your teacher.”
5. Checking of attendance
Let’s check your attendance.
Look at your seatmates who are absent today?
6. Drill
Directions: Count the set of objects then add
them together. Put your answer on the box

Kinder! Let’s play a game bowling, the only goal is
to knock down all the bowling pins.

count the remaining bowling pins that needs to
be knock down)

Here are some of the words that are unfamiliar
to you.
Let’s play a game pass the ball. Are you ready
kinder?
(The students will pass the ball to their
classmates while the music is playing an if the
music stops they will get the paper inside the ball
and read it.)
Subtraction-process of taking away an object or
more from another group of objects.
Take away- means to remove object/s from
another set of objects.
Minuend- quantity or number from which another
is to be subtracted.
Subtrahend- quantity or number to
be subtracted from another.
Our topic last meeting is all about addition.

12. Lesson Proper
- Our topic for today is all about subtraction.
“When we say subtraction, it is the process of
taking away the object to another group of
objects in able to get the result.
For example, I have 8 slices of pizza but the
hungry dragon eats the 3 how many slices of
pizza left?
The (-) symbol represents as subtraction.
That’s why when we see this symbol we used
subtraction as an operation.
Another example
I have 5 donuts
The dragon ate the two donuts how many donuts
left?

When we say minuend, it is the quantity or
number from which another is to be subtracted.
When we say subtrahend, it is the quantity or
number to be subtracted from another.
When we say difference, it is the result of the
number after other number has been subtracted.
For example:
The three donuts here is the minuend the two
donuts is the subtrahend and the answer is the
difference.

Group of boys-will solve the subtraction problem
and paste your answer on the caterpillar’s body
(The choices will be given by the teacher)

and paste the answer on each petal of the flower
(The choices will be given by the teacher)

Why is it important to study subtraction?
Very Good! It is important for us to study
subtraction for us to know how to subtract.

Lesson Proper - Our topic for today is all about subtraction. “When we say subtraction, it is the process of taking away the object to another group of objects in able to get the result. For example, I have 8 slices of pizza but the hungry dragon eats the 3 how many slices of pizza left? The (-) symbol represents as subtraction. That’s why when we see this symbol we used subtraction as an operation. Another example I have 5 donuts The dragon ate the two donuts how many donuts left? When we say subtrahend, it is the quantity or number to be subtracted from another. When we say difference, it is the result of the number after other number has been subtracted.
