2. Definition
•Math is the study of numbers, quantities, and shapes.
•Science is the observation, identification, description, experimental
investigation, and theoretical explanation of phenomena.

3. Importance of Math and Science
•Math and Science are important because being able to apply the reasoning
behind math into science, and science into math keeps the two subjects
intertwined.
•Science
• Gives students cultural value
• Provides unique training in observation and reasoning
• Helps explain how the human race works
•Math is a skill used in everyday life.
• Time management
• Budgeting money
• Problem solving

4. Math and Science’s Role in 21st Century
•Students need to be able to apply Math and Science into their everyday lives.
•STEM education provides opportunities for all students to excel in science,
technology, engineering, and math.
•Math and Science need to be more focused on increasing the nations standards
•Create a more digital approach to teaching and learning math and science

5. Usage of Technology in Pillar
Students can complete WebQuest on topics such as planets and cell cycles.
Youtube can be used to show the steps that need to be taken to complete a math problem, and
they can be viewed anywhere.
Students can read blogs on topics that the class is covering.
Posters can be made to show basic multiplication rules.
Students can work together to make robots that goes along with the lesson that is being
covered.

6. Example
•First we will have our students use the iPad to
look up the temperatures for everyday in
November 2014 and November 2015.
•Then they will make a double line graph using
word or excel comparing the temperatures.
