A hortatory exposition is type of text that persuades the readers to
accept the writer’s point of view by showing the information in a
logical way.

directs then to follow or agree to the writer’s recommendation.
LANGUAGE FEATURES
• Simple present tense, e.g. The best advice is to think carefully before accepting
any position.
• Words that qualify statements, e.g. usual, probably, etc.
• Words that link arguments, e.g. firstly, on the other hand, therefore, etc.
• Passive voice, e.g. it became rocky because the earth was washed away by the
rain.
• Modal auxiliaries, e.g. should, can, could, etc.
• Connectors, e.g. then, after that, etc.
