ABSTRACT

   INCREASING THE STUDENTS’ SPORTS ACHEIVEMENT USING
     DEMONSTRATION METHOD AT THE EIGHTH CLASS OF
             WIYATAMA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
                    BANDAR LAMPUNG

The problem of research was the low of students’ sports achievement at junior
class VIII-B. The objectives of this research was to describe (1) the lesson plan
using demonstration method, (2) the implementation of learning sports, (3)
evaluation system using demonstration method, (4) to increase the students’
achievement using the demonstration method .
This classroom action research was conducted in SMP Wiyatama Bandar
Lampung in 2008-2009, the research subjects 40 students of VIII-B. This
research was conducted in three cycles, The first cycle using demonstration by a
video, the second cycle using a demonstration with a modified of learning’s tools,
the third cycle using learning tools with video demonstration and learning tools
modification. The data were collected using observation sheet, written test and
practical test.
The results of this research that: (1) Lesson plan of the first cycles scored 2.35.
the second cycle 3.25 and third cycle scored 4.7. (2) The percentage of active
students are classified the first cycle 62.5%, the second cycle increased 75%, the
third cycle increased 90%. (3) The evaluation system the first cycles using
descriptions test obtained validity 0.45, medium category, reliability 0.50,
medium category , level of difficulty 0.80, easy category, and distinguishing
features 0.25, medium category, The second cycle using the acquired skills test
the validity 0.65 high category, the reliability of instrument 0.55 sufficient
category, the level of difficulty 0.25 difficulty categories, and distinguishing
features 0.43 high category, the third cycle using problem descriptions and
acquired skills test the validity 0.79 high category, the reliability 0.89 high
category, the level of difficulty 0.70 in the medium category, and distinguishing
features 0.68 high category. (4) Student achievement are increased at the first
cycle obtained 25%, the second cycle obtained 67.5% , the third cycle obtained
92.5%.
