This slide deck is a recap of the session presented by Anthony Manos at the MARTS Conference March 13, 2012 covering how to get to the real root cause of your maintenance issues.
A short tutorial that introduces five ways to reduce warranty costs. Design a better product leads the list with concrete means to do so. Plus advice directly for the warranty professional to make a difference.
Adopt Before You Adapt: Learning Principles through PracticeTechWell
Although agile principles sound simple, adopting agile is often extremely difficult. Some teams adopting agile start by making changes and tweaks to prescribed processes—bad! Steve Berczuk explains how following the recommended practices of your chosen agile method for a time will help you internalize the process and leverage the experiences of those who developed the method. Through experience, Steve has discovered that premature customization can lead to more problems and eventually to failure. After discussing the common reasons teams customize methods and tools prematurely and the problems this can cause, he offers guidance about how and when to change an agile process and explains which practices are essential to retain the values and principles that make agile development what it is meant to be. Take back a new appreciation of how following proven agile practices before you adapt them leads to the profound understanding and internalization of the principles that agile requires.

India is the world's largest Sponge Iron producer and mostly uses the Coal based process. The down-side of this industry is that it generates significant amounts of solid waste in the form of ESP Flyash and Bag House Filter Dust. Now as this Flyash contains considerable unburned carbon ( 10% and above), it cannot be utilized in cement manufacturing. Likewise the Bag Filter dust contains upto 25% unburned carbon and above 70% ash which again doesn't allow it to be reused viably as a fuel. Meanwhile, reducing the carbon content by the Carbon-burnout method is too expensive and polluting just to convert the wastes into usable Flyash.
As a result most of these wastes go into landfill, where they again contribute to ground and water pollution.
Surprisingly there are technologies which can not only effectively convert these wastes into usable items like recovered fuel and low carbon Flyash, but at the same time clean up the environment and save the companies great expenses. Its is called Carbon-Ash Separation and there are several ways of doing the same.

Safeabilty: Analyzing the Relationship between Safety and Reliability PlantEngineering
-What if we treated maintenance and reliability improvement like safety?
-How Would that change our focus? our tactics?
-What techniques could we apply directly from the other areas?
-How are the two the same and how are they different?
Lean Maintenance is gaining traction as a sound strategy to keep equipment running and productivity humming. The hardest part is getting started. On Thursday, March 20 at 1 p.m. CDT, Plant Engineering will present a Webcast that looks at the steps needed to implement a sound Lean Maintenance strategy on your plant floor and to begin to reap the benefits.
Learning objectives:
-The value of Lean Maintenance as a plant-floor strategy and the history of lean
-The steps and tools needed to get started down the road to Lean
-Getting plant-floor buy-in from line workers
-Incorporating technology into Lean maintenance

The goal of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is to increase equipment effectiveness so that each piece of equipment can be operated to its full potential and maintained at that level. To maximize equipment effectiveness, you need a measurement tool that can help you understand your equipment problems so that you can take steps to eliminate them. The key to this understanding is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
OEE is a crucial measure in TPM that tells you how well your equipment is running. It links three elements in one percentage: the time the machine is actually running, the quantity of products the machine is turning out, and the quantity of good output.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Understand the concept and philosophy of TPM and its relationship with OEE
2. Explain the importance of OEE and how it relates to value-adding work of the factory
3. Understand OEE concepts such as Availability, Performance, Quality and the Six Major Losses
4. Describe the steps of collecting and processing OEE data and reporting results
5. Define approaches for reducing equipment-related losses to raise OEE

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).

Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
