Mark Ramsey - Curriculum Vitae
Personal Attributes
I have been working in the hospitality sector for 14 years now, since I left school. Working in this sector for so many years has
taught me to utilise my confident and outgoing personality, which enables me to build good relationships with my customers,
colleges and managers.
One of the most important skills that I have acquired over this 14 year period is my ability to adapt and learn, which encourages
me to take on new tasks and roles wherever possible. This characteristic has only been advanced through my most recent
positons at Whitbread as both Deputy and General Manager.
The different chapters of my hospitality career have taught me that I work well on my own when required, by keeping focused
and on target, particularly with General Management tasks. I have high levels of self-motivation which have lead me to become
much better at using my own knowledge in order to solve problems and find innovative solutions.
I have excellent communication that is essential when interacting with members of the public, both face to face or via the
telephone. This is a skill that I have obtained over many years through my previous employment and am grateful to be
confident in, because communication linked with high quality customer service will lead to satisfied and loyal customers.
Overall I am hard working, trustworthy and very eager to learn, I don’t give up easily so will persist to expand my knowledge in
all areas of any business. As a leader and manager of my own site, I am motivational and dedicated to the development and
investment in my team’s skills and knowledge but eager to drive sales and efficiencies in line with business targets through
teamwork and leading by example.
Current Employment
Whitbread PLC
General Manager - The Three Bells, Brewers Fayre
Apr 2016 – Present
After having successfully managed the Glastonbury Brewers Fayre for 8 months without a General Manager, I was eager to
obtain my own site as a General Manager. Now running the Three Bells in Lymington, I am responsible for managing the team
and the business in a manner that creates an efficient yet enjoyable working environment, aiding the delivery of the business
requirements and providing an excellent consumer experience to all of our guests at all times.
I have learnt that in order to do this it’s crucial that I invest my time into developing my employees. My training through PIGM
has given me the knowledge and experience to confidently manage a large team of both Front of House and Kitchen staff.
As an individual’s manager, I confidently hold 1-1 reviews, setting objectives based on personal and business needs in order to
develop individuals within the team and to create a succession plan within the business. I also have a good understanding of
employment law which allows me to discipline and take appropriate action when required.
As General Manager I have become responsible for the performance of my site, increasing turnover by 20% since arriving in
April.

along the way.
In my roles within Whitbread I have been responsible for all aspects of health of and safety around the business, and so have

hygiene throughout my team. I have also completed my BII cellar management course so that I have a good understanding of
how to keep the cellar in the best possible condition to comply with food safety legislation.
Throughout my career with Whitbread I have always been involved the day to day aspects of the business including handling

and I am capable of using this information to make decisions that positively impact the business profit without effecting the
guest or team journey.
In 2015 I was nominated as 1 of only 20 people across the UK, by my Regional Manager to be enrolled in Whitbread’s

aspect of my leadership style to increase performance.
