The Future of Advertising Isn't Advertising (As We Know It)Gunther Sonnenfeld
What an agency service model(s) looks like in a business landscape that is flattening and whose resources are becoming more distributed. A conversation that addresses the realities of the landscape, economic solutions and a bit about what this means for creativity.
We think it is a source of creativity. Join our interactive session where you will see firsthand how our small charity (a few staff and hundreds of volunteers) are able to be hyper-productive using Salesforce.com and Google Apps. Our live demonstrations will show how we’ve been able to triple our productivity with only double the resources. Framework, the organization that brings you the Timeraiser program, is a small team with limited resources. We’ve made a deliberate decision to invest heavily in our Cloud Computing Strategy - tools like Salesforce.com and Google Apps - to better focus on our mission and collaborate with like-minded organizations. This has lead to improved fundraising and volunteer management capabilities.
Attendees Will Walk Away With:
• Project Management – ideas on how your team can collaborates on social media projects
• Knowledge Management – ideas on how your team can stay on top of technology trends
• Fundraising Management – ideas on how your team can collaborate on Fundraising
• Board Management – ideas on how we organize information for your board
• Volunteer Management – ideas on to track volunteer time and participation
Anil Patel
In 2001, Anil along with some of his university friends co-founded Timeraiser, a program aimed at engaging skilled and energetic Canadians to get involved in the community. How do you get men to take action on ending violence against women? Well, you talk them into walking a mile wearing high heels of course! This workshop will look at how the White Ribbon Campaign has worked to transform online interest into concrete, offline actions in our work to engage men in ending violence against women. Two of our campaigns, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, and “It Starts With You, It Stays With Him” will be highlighted.
Takeaways:
- How to use social media to foster change on a challenging social issue
- How to translate online interest into offline action
- Look at two examples of social media use, for fundraising and awareness, as well as advancing our mission
You’re already overwhelmed. And yet every day there is more and more information to filter. For you: What strategies, tools and techniques do you need for this new literacy? How do you find the trusted sources that curate the information you need each day? How can you ensure that the information you find, use and act on is credible? For the people you serve: How can you become (or remain!) a trusted source of information and enhance your reputation? What if you could find/share something once and have it show up everywhere you need it to be?
Attendees Will Walk Away With:
• A strategy for handling information overload
• Free, practical online tools they can implement immediately
• Connections to sites, experts, resources to help them with the above (i.e. early adopters who are testing this all out and thinking deeply on this stuff for you!).
Marco Campana
Marco has worked with the web and social media for numerous non-profits and believes that technology is valuable when it is connected to our daily work. Marco believes that social media is a means to an end. You probably care about the end. This is reasonable.

Learn more about your CanadaHelps donors and why they give! CanadaHelps and McMaster teamed up in the summer of 2010 to survey CanadaHelps donors. We wanted to understand more about who’s giving online in Canada: where they live, when they were born and what their interests are. We also wanted to know what motivates Canadians to give – when, why and how are they moved to make a donation. The findings will surprise and delight you!
In this special 2-part webinar series, we’ll explore the results of the survey and delve deeper into what this means for your charity in terms of online fundraising. In Part 1, we’ll explore the finding of the survey in-depth. Part 2 will focus on your next action steps for engaging more online donors.

Modern Union was founded in 2011 by Matt Gill, David Indo and Tom Denford, 3 high-profile and highly experienced media and communication experts.
Modern Union is a new type of communications agency built upon a set of principles designed to fulfil the needs and challenges facing brands in a modern world.
We believe that ambitious brands deserve better quality strategic advice and better quality service to make marketing budgets work harder in a digital age.
We believe that independent, channel neutral strategic planning is the key to this success. In an increasingly complex media world, brands need impartial advice about where and how to invest in marketing to provide the greatest potential for growth.
We believe that many traditional agencies are unable to do this.
We are different. We are Modern Union.
