This document discusses the design, trust, and control of sterile manufacturing. It begins with opening questions about which dosage form approaches vital organs fastest (injection), which manufacturing area requires the highest control of particles and microorganisms (injection manufacturing), and which defect is most difficult to detect (contamination). The document then provides an overview of inherent challenges in sterile manufacturing and notes that injectables are easy to formulate but difficult to manufacture due to the need for strict control of contamination. It emphasizes that contamination in injectables can lead to serious health consequences since injections take effect rapidly and potential issues may not be reversible. The document stresses that particles and microbial contamination present a continuous challenge in sterile manufacturing.
Safer cosmetics through in vitro science. XCellR8 presentation to Cosmetics B...Dr Carol Barker-Treasure
In vitro methods for key aspects of cosmetic safety, including skin and eye irritation and skin sensitisation, are now in widespread use for regulatory safety testing around the world. In many cases, they are now established as the default rather than the alternative approach, so it’s timely to ask, “where next?”
In vitro technologies offer so much more than basic regulatory compliance, and when used wisely, can provide the competitive edge, from ensuring that formulations are fully optimised before proceeding to human in vivo studies, to providing detailed mechanistic data for claim support purposes. Importantly, they are a powerful tool to support the current move towards exposure-led safety assessments, enhancing the long-term safety of products and limiting the risk of post-market adverse events.
This presentation, first shared at the Cosmetics Business Regulatory Summit 2018, examines case studies from some early-adopters who are taking the application of in vitro data to the next level and considers the feasibility of applying exciting new techniques to the cosmetics of the future.

David Ryan Thesis - Investigation of Fluid Dynamics and Emulsification in Son...David Ryan
This thesis investigates fluid dynamics and emulsification in Sonolator liquid whistles through experimental and computational methods. Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements were conducted on a laboratory-scale Sonolator to validate single-phase Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. The CFD simulations provide insight into the basic flow fields responsible for breakage behavior. Multiphase experiments on a pilot-scale Sonolator were also performed to characterize droplet size reduction for dilute and medium dispersed phases. An empirical model of droplet size was developed based on operating parameters and compared to existing breakage theories. Additional work in the appendices considers cavitation effects and population balance modeling of droplet breakup.

A study on_contrast_and_comparison_between_bellman-ford_algorithm_and_dijkstr...Khoa Mac Tu
This document compares the Bellman-Ford algorithm and Dijkstra's algorithm for finding shortest paths in graphs. Both algorithms can be used to find single-source shortest paths, but Bellman-Ford can handle graphs with negative edge weights while Dijkstra's algorithm cannot. Bellman-Ford has a worst-case time complexity of O(n^2) while Dijkstra's algorithm has a better worst-case time complexity of O(n^2). However, Dijkstra's algorithm is more efficient in practice for graphs with non-negative edge weights. The document provides pseudocode to describe the procedures of each algorithm.

Ferrography is a technique that analyzes debris in lubricants to detect abnormal wear of components. It reveals which component is wearing, to what degree, and the cause of wear, through analyzing particle size, shape, color, and quantity. This allows maintenance programs to transition from reactive breakdown maintenance to proactive maintenance by identifying potential issues before failure occurs. Ferrography testing is available for various industries to monitor equipment and minimize downtime through early problem detection.
Optimizing Post Remediation Groundwater Performance with Enhanced Microbiolog...Joshua Orris
Results of geophysics and pneumatic injection pilot tests during 2003 – 2007 yielded significant positive results for injection delivery design and contaminant mass treatment, resulting in permanent shut-down of an existing groundwater Pump & Treat system.
Accessible source areas were subsequently removed (2011) by soil excavation and treated with the placement of Emulsified Vegetable Oil EVO and zero-valent iron ZVI to accelerate treatment of impacted groundwater in overburden and weathered fractured bedrock. Post pilot test and post remediation groundwater monitoring has included analyses of CVOCs, organic fatty acids, dissolved gases and QuantArray® -Chlor to quantify key microorganisms (e.g., Dehalococcoides, Dehalobacter, etc.) and functional genes (e.g., vinyl chloride reductase, methane monooxygenase, etc.) to assess potential for reductive dechlorination and aerobic cometabolism of CVOCs.
In 2022, the first commercial application of MetaArray™ was performed at the site. MetaArray™ utilizes statistical analysis, such as principal component analysis and multivariate analysis to provide evidence that reductive dechlorination is active or even that it is slowing. This creates actionable data allowing users to save money by making important site management decisions earlier.
The results of the MetaArray™ analysis’ support vector machine (SVM) identified groundwater monitoring wells with a 80% confidence that were characterized as either Limited for Reductive Decholorination or had a High Reductive Reduction Dechlorination potential. The results of MetaArray™ will be used to further optimize the site’s post remediation monitoring program for monitored natural attenuation.
Improving the viability of probiotics by encapsulation methods for developmen...Open Access Research Paper
The popularity of functional foods among scientists and common people has been increasing day by day. Awareness and modernization make the consumer think better regarding food and nutrition. Now a day’s individual knows very well about the relation between food consumption and disease prevalence. Humans have a diversity of microbes in the gut that together form the gut microflora. Probiotics are the health-promoting live microbial cells improve host health through gut and brain connection and fighting against harmful bacteria. Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus are the two bacterial genera which are considered to be probiotic. These good bacteria are facing challenges of viability. There are so many factors such as sensitivity to heat, pH, acidity, osmotic effect, mechanical shear, chemical components, freezing and storage time as well which affects the viability of probiotics in the dairy food matrix as well as in the gut. Multiple efforts have been done in the past and ongoing in present for these beneficial microbial population stability until their destination in the gut. One of a useful technique known as microencapsulation makes the probiotic effective in the diversified conditions and maintain these microbe’s community to the optimum level for achieving targeted benefits. Dairy products are found to be an ideal vehicle for probiotic incorporation. It has been seen that the encapsulated microbial cells show higher viability than the free cells in different processing and storage conditions as well as against bile salts in the gut. They make the food functional when incorporated, without affecting the product sensory characteristics.
Evolving Lifecycles with High Resolution Site Characterization (HRSC) and 3-D...Joshua Orris
The incorporation of a 3DCSM and completion of HRSC provided a tool for enhanced, data-driven, decisions to support a change in remediation closure strategies. Currently, an approved pilot study has been obtained to shut-down the remediation systems (ISCO, P&T) and conduct a hydraulic study under non-pumping conditions. A separate micro-biological bench scale treatability study was competed that yielded positive results for an emerging innovative technology. As a result, a field pilot study has commenced with results expected in nine-twelve months. With the results of the hydraulic study, field pilot studies and an updated risk assessment leading site monitoring optimization cost lifecycle savings upwards of $15MM towards an alternatively evolved best available technology remediation closure strategy.

Kinetic studies on malachite green dye adsorption from aqueous solutions by A...Open Access Research Paper
Water polluted by dyestuffs compounds is a global threat to health and the environment; accordingly, we prepared a green novel sorbent chemical and Physical system from an algae, chitosan and chitosan nanoparticle and impregnated with algae with chitosan nanocomposite for the sorption of Malachite green dye from water. The algae with chitosan nanocomposite by a simple method and used as a recyclable and effective adsorbent for the removal of malachite green dye from aqueous solutions. Algae, chitosan, chitosan nanoparticle and algae with chitosan nanocomposite were characterized using different physicochemical methods. The functional groups and chemical compounds found in algae, chitosan, chitosan algae, chitosan nanoparticle, and chitosan nanoparticle with algae were identified using FTIR, SEM, and TGADTA/DTG techniques. The optimal adsorption conditions, different dosages, pH and Temperature the amount of algae with chitosan nanocomposite were determined. At optimized conditions and the batch equilibrium studies more than 99% of the dye was removed. The adsorption process data matched well kinetics showed that the reaction order for dye varied with pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order. Furthermore, the maximum adsorption capacity of the algae with chitosan nanocomposite toward malachite green dye reached as high as 15.5mg/g, respectively. Finally, multiple times reusing of algae with chitosan nanocomposite and removing dye from a real wastewater has made it a promising and attractive option for further practical applications.

found that the particulate matter (PM) 2.5 levels is four times the
Indian safety limits and 10 times that of the World Health
Organization.
Particulate Matter (PM) is a microscopic solid or liquid matter
suspended in the Earth's atmosphere. PM may also include dust,
dirt, soot, smoke and liquid droplets. Particles less than 10
micrometers in diameter (PM 10) pose a health concern because
they can be inhaled and gets accumulated in the respiratory
system.

Some of our ongoing Projects include
Based on a study conducted by US Environmental Protection
Agency, Greenpeace India claimed that the PM 2.5 is a "very
unhealthy" level that "will mean reduced lung functioning,
increase in asthma and respiratory illnesses". "This
establishes the fact that air pollution levels inside Delhi
schools are alarmingly high and that children are
consistentlybreathingcontaminated air.
ThenewfigurescameaftertheWHOestimatesshowed13of
the 20 most polluted cities in the world were in India and
Delhibeingtheworst-rankedcity.
“Other studies have also shown that air pollution reduces
productivity at work, increases the incidence of sick days,
and raises health care expenses that could be devoted to
other goods," Greenstone concluded. One initial step would
be for India to increase its monitoring efforts and take
advantage of new technology that allows for real-time
monitoring.
Air pollution in urban areas is growing alarmingly across
India for which, it has become important to take preventive
actions against this issue. Apart from just monitoring the air
quality, government is taking corrective actions to solve the
problemsandmaketheairsuitabletobreathe.
Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) is committed to
sustainabledevelopmentbyensuring improvementin
Environmental Quality of National Capital- Delhi. Some of
the actions taken by government to reduce air pollution in
the country includes; introduction of Metro in Delhi to
promote use of mass public transport, operating CNG
mode public transport, supplying improved diesel and
gasoline.

3. LC-MS/MS- A Tool for Accurate Analysis of
Mycotoxins in Food
Cyclic Corrosion Test Chamber
Acycliccorrosiontestchamberhasemergedinrecentyears,
mainly within the automobile industries, for the purpose of
accelerating real-world corrosion failures. It is one of the
industry's most leading-edge, flexible and robust creations.
Providing a broad array of controlled cycles to the user, it
meetsthestringentindustrystandardspecifications.
The traditional Salt spray chambers which were used as the
standard way to simulate corrosion in the labs failed to
provide typical naturally occurring environment. With the
aim of providing better correlations to outdoors, Cyclic
corrosion tests chambers were invented. These chambers
demonstratethemoderncorrosiontestinginnovations.
Cyclic corrosion chambers which are capable of multiple
automatic cycles include; Solution spray, Salt fog, Humidity
fog,Drycycle,Controlledhumidity,Immersioncycle,etc.By
practicing cyclic corrosion test, the manufacturers and
suppliers can predict the service life expectancy of their
productsmoreaccurately.
Mycotoxins are a group of naturally occurring chemicals
which are extremelytoxic and are produced bythe fungi like
Fusarium, Penicillium and Aspergillus. These fungi are
present on plant products and can increase quickly in case
the food is not properly stored. Many of the mycotoxins are
carcinogenic and are capable of spoiling millions of tons of
cereals and food items. Even at very low concentrations,
theyarefatalandcauseserioushealthissues.
The elementary mycotoxins regulated in the EU and US are
total aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, deoxynivalenol, patulin and
zearalenone. As per the Food and Agricultural Organization
(FAO), more than 25% of the world's agricultural production
is contaminated with mycotoxins. When the environmental
conditions of temperature and humidity are able to develop
fungal spores, production of mycotoxins starts occurring.
The contamination can occur anywhere, at the field, during
transportation,storageorprocessing.
LC system coupled with Triple Quadrupole Mass
Spectrometer is a fast method used to analyze or quantify
mycotoxins in food items. The developed methods employ
LC-MS/MS technique for determining chemically diverse
mycotoxins.
HPLC post-column derivatization system is commonly used
for analysis mycotoxins and antibiotics. It is specifically
designed to optimize the sensitivity and selectivity of post-
columnanalysisinHPLCanalysis.
Before mass spectrometer, HPLC separates the sample to
chemical compounds. Coupling of LC with MS provides a
greateropportunityfortheanalysisofmycotoxins.
During the last two decades, techniques based on LC-MS
has become common in mycotoxin research in the field of
food and feed safety because of its sensitivity, selectivity
andquantitationrange.
Spectro Lab Equipments (P) Ltd. is one of the prominent
manufacturers of Cyclic Corrosion Test Chambers. We own
this sophisticated chamber to serve various industries. We
provide services to carry out this particular test as per
National & International Standards for several
automobile parts, electrical items, metallic parts, and
other coated & uncoated materials to check their
resistancetowardscorrosion.
Spectro possess LC-MS/MS to carry out testing of
mycotoxins and pesticides residue in different food and
feedproducts.
Spectro is the only lab in Delhi, which has Post
derivatization column by Pickering laboratories, intended
for specific applications like detecting certain classes of
compounds including mycotoxins & carbamates at very
lowconcentrations.
Moreover, we also carry out tests for Phthalates, Azo dyes,
Brominated compounds, Dioxins, etc. in plastics, textiles
and polymer products. We have LC-MS/MS Make: Agilent
TechnologiesModel:6410TripleQuadrupole.
