Male infertility can be caused by issues with the testes, sperm ducts, or other parts of the male reproductive system. Common causes include varicocele, genetic conditions, infections, environmental factors, and lifestyle factors like smoking and drinking alcohol. Diagnosis involves physical exam, hormone tests, semen analysis, and sometimes ultrasound or biopsy. Treatment depends on the underlying cause but may include medications, surgery, lifestyle changes, or assisted reproduction.

2. VÔ SINH INFERTILITY
Định nghĩa (WHO):
Vô sinh là tình trạng vợ chồng sau 12
tháng chung sống, quan hệ tình dục đều
đặn, không sử dụng bất kỳ một biện pháp
tránh thai nào mà người vợ vẫn không
mang thai.
Definition (WHO):
Infertility is “a disease of the reproductive
system defined by the failure to achieve a
clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more
of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.”
(WHO-ICMART glossary).
“Infertility is the inability of a sexually
active, non-contracepting couple to
achieve pregnancy in one year. The male
partner can be evaluated for infertility or
subfertility using a variety of clinical
interventions, and also from a laboratory
evaluation of semen.” (Semen manual, 5th
Edition).

có thai, nhưng sau đó không thể có thai lại.
Primary infertility
is infertility in a couple who have never had
a child.
Secondary infertility
is failure to conceive following a previous
pregnancy.

16. Life style
Vitamin E, Vitamin C
Rượu
• Giảm nồng độ testosterone dẫn tới
giảm ham muốn.
• Giảm chất lượng, cấu trúc và sự
vận động của tinh trùng.
Tobacco smoking
• Tobacco smoking was observed to
damage sperm DNA .
• Smokers are 60% more likely to be
infertile than non-smokers.
• Smokers have decreased levels of
antioxidants such as Vitamin E and
Vitamin C, placing their
spermatozoa at additional risk of
oxidative damage.
Alcohol
• Reduce a man’s testosterone levels,
leading to loss of libido.
• Damage the quality, structure and
movement of sperm.
20. Giãn TM thừng tinh Varicocele

scrotum.
Varicoceles are a common cause of low
sperm production and decreased sperm
quality, which can cause infertility.

41. Assisted reproductive technologies
Medically assisted human reproductive technologies are a
group of high tech treatment methods used to combat infertility.
One of the greatest advances in reproductive medicine
Techniques include
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
In Vitro Fertilization and
Embryo transfer (IVF – ET)
Gametic Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT)
Zygotic Intra-Fallopian Transfer (ZIFT)
Tubal embryo stage transfer (TET)
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
42. IN VITRO FERTILIZATION
IVF broadly deals with the removal of eggs from a women,
fertilizing them in the laboratory and then transferring the
fertilized eggs into uterus a few days later.
Infertility due to the following causes may be considered for IVF
Failed ovulation induction
Tubal diseases
Endometriosis
Idiopathic infertility
43. GENERAL PROTOCOL
Patient selection
Manipulation of mensural
cycle; superovulation
Oocyte retrieval
Preparation of semen
sample
IVF treatment
Embryo transfer
Cryopresevation
44. Sperm is injected directly into the eggs in a laboratory.
Used if infertility originates from the male such as:
Low numbers of sperm
Low sperm motility
Single spermatozoan is directly injected into the cytoplasm of
the oocyte through the micropuncture of zona pellucida.
INTRA CYTOPLASMIC SPERM INJECTION (ICSI)
