Tufts Spatial Data Rescue: Crawling at-risk Government Data
Much U. S. federal data are perceived as being at risk of becoming inaccessible through lack of maintenance and funding shifts. Organizations such as the End of Term Project and Data Rescue have emerged to coordinate the backup and rescue of at-risk federal data. Tufts University conducted a curated harvest to back up potentially at-risk federal, environmental and social justice geospatial data and associated tabular data. Tufts ongoing harvest has recovered over 40 TB of data. Tufts developed the Crawler to crawl all data: unzip files, identify file types, sizes, local directories, and harvest and process all related metadata using data mining and natural language processing (NLP) techniques. The Crawler results in detailed collection level and layer level metadata analytics for assessment, search and discovery.

Converting GHO to RDF
This document describes converting the World Health Organization's Global Health Observatory data to RDF. It presents a semi-automated approach using OntoWiki's CSVImport plugin to transform CSV files into RDF according to the RDF Data Cube vocabulary. This allows the data to be queried and integrated more easily. As a demonstration, 50 health datasets were converted to RDF containing around 8 million triples and made available online. Future work could improve conversion accuracy and explore utilizing the temporal aspects of the data.

The Challenge is open to everyone from industry and academia.

Poio API: a CLARIN-D curation project for language documentation and language...
Poio API is an open source software library written in Python and is being developed as part of a curation project within the working group “Linguistic Fieldwork, Anthropology, Language Typology” of CLARIN-D . The goal of Poio API is to provide unified access to pivot data structures parsed from different file formats that researchers use in language documentation projects. As unified data structures we chose an implementation of the “Graph Annotation Framework” (GrAF) that was standardized as ISO 24612 in 2012. In our presentation, we will discuss the connections between GrAF and TEI, and present two use cases that demonstrate the innovation and advantage of our approach in comparison to existing methods.

R2R and BCO-DMO are linked oceanographic data repositories that provide metadata for datasets collected from ocean research vessels and expeditions. They utilize linked data to improve discovery of datasets across repositories and attribute datasets to contributors. R2R catalogs vessel instrumentation and contains over 500k triples, while BCO-DMO catalogs PI-submitted datasets including over land deployments and contains over 2 million triples. Open Chemistry, JupyterLab and data: Reproducible quantum chemistry
The Open Chemistry project is developing an ambitious platform to facilitate reproducible quantum chemistry workflows by integrating the best of breed open source projects currently available in a cohesive platform with extensions specific to the needs of quantum chemistry. The core of the project is a Python-based data server capable of storing metadata, executing quantum chemistry calculations, and processing the output. The platform exposes RESTful endpoints using programming language agnostic web endpoints, and uses Linux container technology to package quantum codes that are often difficult to build.
The Jupyter project has been leveraged as a web-based frontend offering reproducibility as a core principle. This has been coupled with the data server to initiate quantum chemistry calculations, cache results, make them searchable, and even visualize the results within a modern browser environment. The Avogadro libraries have been reused for visualization workflows, coupled with Open Babel for file translation, and examples of the use of NWChem and Psi4 will be demonstrated.
The core of the platform is developed upon JSON data standards, and encouraging the wider adoption of JSON/HDF5 as the principle storage mediums. A single page web application using React at its core will be shown for sharing simple views of data output, and linking to the Jupyter notebooks that documents how they were made. Command line tools and links to the Avogadro graphical interface will be shown demonstrating capabilities from web through to desktop.

advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
