2. The human body is like a
machine that is uniquely
designed to perform
different tasks. Each organ
of the human body has its
own parts. Each part
performs specific functions
that are important for the
continuance of life.
5. BRAIN
• One of the most important organs
in the human body is the brain.
• It is responsible for major actions
performed by the body.
• It controls your voluntary actions,
such as your thoughts, speech,
and movements.
• It also controls your involuntary
actions, such as your breathing,
digestion, sweating, and
heartbeat.
6. BRAIN
CEREBRUM
The cerebrum is the largest
part of the brain. It uses
information from your five
senses to help you understand
what is happening around you.
8. BRAIN
The left hemisphere is
responsible for verbal
memory and arithmetic.
It also controls the
muscles on the right side
of the body.
The right hemisphere is
responsible for
nonverbal memory and
creative thinking. It
controls the muscles on
the left side of the body.
9. HEART
• The heart is a hollow and
muscular organ.
• The main function of the
heart is to pump blood
throughout the body
through the blood vessels by
repeated and rhythmic
constractions.
10. HEART
TWO CHAMBERS OF THE
HEART
ATRIA (Atrium)
the two chambers on top
• Left Atrium
• Right Atrium
VENTRICLES
the two chambers on the
bottom
• Left Ventricles
• Right Ventricles
12. lungs
• Your lungs are the vital
organs for respiration.
• The main function of the
lungs is for breathing, a
continuous pattern of
bringing oxygen to the
body and releasing carbon
dioxide from the body.
14. lungs
DIAPHRAGM
It is a big muscle
that works with
the lungs to get air
in (inhale) and out
(exhale).
15. liver
• The liver is a large and
heavy organ that lies on
the right side of your
upper abdomen, beneath
the diaphragm.
• Its function is to remove
waste products and other
harmful substances from
the blood
16. liver
• The liver also makes
substances needed by the
body.
• It makes proteins that help
clot blood.
• It makes certain enzymes
that break down food into
fuel for the body.
17. STOMACH
• The stomach is a pear-
shaped and muscular bag-
like organ attached to the
esophagus.
• Its main function is for the
digestion of food.
18. intestines
• It is the long muscular
tude that extends from
the lower end of your
stomach.
19. intestines
The main function of the
small intestine is the
absorption of nutrients
and minerals from food.
This is where food
materials are changed
into their simplest form.
Also known as colon, its
function is to absorb
excess water from the
remaining indigestible
food materials and
eliminate the useless
waste materials in the
form of feces or stool.
20. kidney
• Located at the back of the
abdomen, on each side of
the spine.
• Their main function is to
maintain the stable balance
of chemicals in the body by
removing waste products
and excess fluid in the form
of urine.
21. bones
• The bones are the
framework of the body.
• The bones also protect
the important organs of
the body.
• There are about 275 bones
at birth. As a person
grows, many of these
bones get fused together.
That is why an adult
human only has 206
bones.
22. muscles
• Muscles are responsible for
all body movements.
• They hold the body parts
together, give the body its
shape, serve as protection
for delicate organs and help
create body heat.
• Muscles are attached to the
bones by tendons.
