EXT. SCHOOL GROUNDS - AFTERNOON
Emily exits the school gates, backpack slung over one shoulder. She sighs, checking her phone - no new messages.
EMILY
Dad's not picking up. Great.
She dials again, holding the phone to her ear as she walks.

Hey dad, it's me. Just letting you know detention ran late so I'm heading home now. See you in a bit.
Hanging up, Emily shoves the phone in her pocket and turns down the path alongside the canal. It's quiet here, the only sounds her footsteps and the

3 (Constraints Experienced and Overcome)MilliesMedia1
Our third task questioned us about the constraints that we experienced whilst creating our project. We were also asked to speak about how we managed to overcome these experiences.
Following task 2, task 3 asked us to create a report that explained the legal and ethical obligations that must be considered when working in both the TV and film industries. Included, we have spoken about Industry codes of practice, The BBFC, Ofcom, the watershed, the Copyright, Design and Patience Act of 1988, as well as the Defamation Act of 2013.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Main task
1. Research of the Universal Studios
The ‘Big Six’ film studios•Universal
•Buena Vista
•Warner Bros
•20th Century Fox
•Sony / Columbia
•Lionsgate
The word universal connotes global success, as if announcing to audiences that the films produced by this company have universal appeal and are recognised worldwide. The fact that the text 'Universal' has a
gold rim around it suggests high quality; that the films produced will survive the test of time, reflecting the 'golden' age of Hollywood film production. The logo denotes that the sun shines behind the globe,
which can also suggest that Universal is a beacon, a leading light in film production. The great films companied by the Universal highlight this such as Jurassic World and Fast and Furious 7.
Universal Studios is one of Hollywood’s ‘Big Six’ film studios. It is an American film studio owned by Comcast. It started in 1912 by a German named Carl Laemmle Mark Dintenfass, Charles. O Baumann, Adam
Kessel, Pat Powers, William Swanson, David Horsley, Robert H. Cochrane and Jules Brulatour. Comcast owns the Universal through the subsidiary NBC universal. The universal started off as ‘the little three’
smallest studios and then grew very successfully.
From the late 20s and early 60s, the main studio's were divided in to two groups, 'The Big Five' and 'The Little Three.'
The Big Five:•MGM
•Paramount
•Warner Bros
•RKO
•Fox
The Little Three•Universal
•Colombia
•United Artists
The benefit of owning or operating the theaters' studios is that it ensured that the films would be distributed, no matter what the quality is. The way the studios maintained control over the film process is that
they made the actors, producers, directors and writers under contract which put them in control. Then the antitrust began in 1938 which forced the studios to sell their theater chains and that was a good thing
for the film industry because it allowed the government to reinstate the lawsuit if it had not seen a satisfactory level of compliance. When the end of the studio system had arrived in the early 60's, it was the
beginning of the end of classic Hollywood which is now known as The Hollywood Golden Age.

2. British Board of film classification
The British Board of Film Censors was established in 1912 by the film industry when local authorities started to impose their own, widely varying, censorship standards
on films. The British Board Film Classification was set up in order to bring a degree of uniformity to those standards. The objective was to create a body which could
make judgements that were acceptable nationally. To this end the British Board Film Classification has needed to earn the trust of the local authorities, Parliament, the
press and the public. It must not only be independent, but be seen to be so, taking care, for example, that the film industry does not influence its decisions, and that,
similarly, pressure groups and the media do not determine its standards. In order to protect children from unsuitable and even harmful content in films and videos and to
give consumers information they might need about a particular film or video before deciding whether or not to view it, the British Board Film Classification examines and
age rates films and videos before they are released.
However not all applications of films do get accepted, there are a variety of films that do go through the process of being a rejected film. If a central concept of the work
is unacceptable (for example, a sex work with a rape theme); or if intervention in the form of cuts. However if the applicant(s) do decide to appeal, The British Board Film
Classification offers a formal ‘reconsideration’ procedure which is open to any distributor dissatisfied with the rating made in respect of their work.
Another factor is cutting the rating, so it fits in the correct category, so If the submitted work is suitable for age rating, but only at a rating higher than that requested by
the submitting company, the BBFC will consider whether a lower rating could be achieved through relatively minor or simple changes. If so, the BBFC may offer the
submitting company a choice of accepting the higher rating or making defined changes to achieve a lower rating. Where possible, the British Board Film Classification
deals with any issues raised in a submitted work through age rating at the appropriate category. In some cases, however, assurances, cuts or other changes (for example,
the addition of warning captions) will be required as a condition of age rating, or as a condition of age rating at a particular category. In some circumstances a work may
be rejected, i.e. refused an age rating at any category.
Their views on crime films.
3. BBFC Case Study: Fast and Furious 7
• Movie name: Fast & Furious 7
• Date: April 1, 2015
• Budget: $190 Million
• Director: James wan
• Rating: (IMDb) 7.3/10
• Age: 12
• Running time: 137 minute
• FAST & FURIOUS 7 is an action drama, in which the team are pursued by the brother of a criminal they have
murdered, whilst they also try to retrieve a valuable computer chip.
• According to BBFC, Fast and Furious 7 got an age rating of 12. The difference between 12A and 12 is that 12A
required and adult to accompany the children for the film. However, the age rating 12 means that the
audience is strictly 12 and above. There isn't a lower age limit than 12 so the Fast and Furious is suitable for
basically everyone on whom would be attracted which is probably mostly students aged 13/14 and over. The
age certificate, is a simpler system for the retailer as it means they cannot sell items with the certain
certificate to their customers.
4. Logo Drafts for CGI Productions
As a group, we decided to name our production, 'CGI
productions' as it is the first initial of each of our names,
Ceylan, Gideon and Ida. As our genre for our opening
scene is crime, I thought that crime related images would
suit our logo. For example, the gun. However, when we
discussed on what our final logo should be, we thought
that the logo with the gun looked unprofessional as it
wasn't edited properly. Similarly, the logo with the
shadows was also not favoured as we thought that it was
more of a horror-looking genre typed logo. Therefore, in
the end, we decided to use one of Gideon's edits as it is
appropriate to our genre.
Our final logo

8. Prop list:
For our prop list we will need:
1. Alcohol bottle or can
2. Backpack
3. A phone, preferably a touchscreen
4. Money
5.
Costume List:
For our costume list for warren, we will need:
- Jacket
- Shoes/Trainers
- Backpack
- Trousers
- Scarf
- Headphones
For our mysterious figure, we will need:
- Jacket
- Jeans
- Trainers
- Glasses
- Hand bag
The prop list consists of all the props that my my group and I
will be using while filming our movie opening sequence. This
helps us know what we need to gather when filming our
opening as it is all listed below, which also improves the
practicality partly. Furthermore, it makes it easier for us when
filming as we have everything prepared and wouldn't have to
make last minute decisions. However it also causes practicality
issues as if we do not have some of the props for example
clothes and a bottle, to provide ourselves with them could be
quite expensive. To Create this prop list I used my story board
to look at what props I would need to be using and I used
Microsoft work 2010 for the platform to type it onto.
Analysis
Risk Assessment
Using alcohol bottles could be a risk assessment for our group
as we are all under the age of 18 and therefore, struggle to get
served and hold in public so we cant be caught because the
police could cause problems such as arresting. Furthermore,
the public and our audience could ethically be effected as we
have an alcohol bottle in our movie sequence.

detention. She is preparing to leave the academy… She prepares to walk down the canal, a cool yet quiet environment…She
calls her father but does not answer, so she decides to leave a voice message before she hangs up…
Warren: ‘’Why aren’t you answering your phone… CALL ME BACK ASAP’’
At this point in the background, a woman is walking in a drunk way before turning around, stares at Warren and then turns
back around into the direction, before disappearing. At this point warren is calling his dad, frustrated and is urgent he picks
up his phone.
Warren: ‘DAD! GET BACK TO ME NOWWWWW!’
He comes out of the canal walk path, and drops his bag, then a huge figure with a green jacket, and in a disorderly fashion
with black hair and around 5’10 tall approaches Warren, not saying showing
Warren is intimidated by the figure, and picks up the bag; and continues his journey.
The figure turns around in the opposite direction, then disappears.
Warren calls his dad for the last time, and shouts down the phone at his father…
Warren: THIS IS WHY I HATE YOU… IF I DISAPPEAR NOW, IT IS ALL YOUR FALUT…
He continues her journey pass the main road, onto a back-quiet road Phillip Street. He makes her way down Phillip Street,
and turns around to check her shoulder. He hears an eerie noise coming from another source… He continues to check her
surroundings before he continues her journey… Suddenly a black hand covers his mouth and suffocates him, and warren is
forced to drop his belongings as he is pulled into an alleyway. He screams for help but then it fades out as the scene ends…
