 A bank is a type of financial institute
 A financial institute is any organization that
provide services related to money.
 Any neighborhood bank offers a variety of
services, including access to your personal
and business account information, advice on
investments, funds withdrawals from either a
live or automated teller, and funds transfers
completed over the Internet. Computers
support all these functions and services, and
it takes different types of computers to make
it all happen seamlessly.

 The automated teller machine, which was introduced in the 1970s,
liberated the typical bank customer from that last-minute race to
get to the bank before it closed. (Remember this was before the
Internet when you checked your account balance either in person
with a teller or by phone, both of which required the bank to be
open.) Using an ATM, customers were finally able to check
account balances, withdraw cash and eventually deposit cash and
checks, make transfers between accounts and make loan
payments. The individual computer units inside each ATM are
linked to the bank's mainframe, where all the data are stored and
coordinated, and by interbank ATM networks, which is why you
can only withdraw your bank's daily cash limit at one ATM; you'll
be denied if you move to any other ATM and try to do it again.
 Servicing the varied national and international needs of today'sbank
customersrequires a tellerable to communicateas muchwith the outside
worldas with the mainframe. All of this communication happensfromthe
individual tellerterminal. Teller computerterminalsprovideaccessto
business and personal overseas accounts and process wiretransfers and
bill paymentsto the bank'sproprietary credit cards and any other bills,
such as yourelectric bill, that the bank offers to facilitate at its location.
Its is an input device used to
change hard copy into soft

Scanners are used in security
system of banks as we can
scan the identity cards of
customers .
Scanner can convert cheques
data into digital form.

 Micro computer(personal computer)
Computerized banking have provided
several benefits such as save the time
and convenience benefits such as save
the time and the abilities to handle
trading in multiple currencies are critical
for international trade. The cheques are
read by MICR(cheque processing).
Bank use mainframe computer to maintain there
customers accounts by dealing with the transactions
generated as a result of with drawl and deposits. Some
banks are used to operate a network of ATMs. Although
some international retail purchasing can be done by
giving a credit card number.
1. Customer information:-
Banks use computers to track customer
information such as name, address, phone
number, date and time, social security
number and place of employment.
2. Transactions and goals:-
Computers help tellers keep a record of all
transactions for the day.
 Home banking
 Mobile banking
 Electronic banking
 Internet banking
Many people use home banking because
 Hackers may interrupt or defraud customers.
 Customers deprived of personal touch.
 Banks make more money do not have to have
branches in expensive high streets.
 Banks workers forced to retrained.
 Easier for customers to mismanage accounts
 Easier for customers to make transactions.
 Do not have to visit branch to make payments
 Do not have to wait for the payment and find
details of money.
It is now very common for bank customers to access their bank
account from home using online banking services customer used a
computer and connect to the banks secure (encrypted) website where
they login(usually with a user name and a password).
Pay bills.
Transfer money between accounts(using EFT).
Apply for loan and other services.
