Introduction:- Mahindra and Mahindra was founded in 1945 by Mahindra brother’s i.e. KC
Mahindra and JC Mahindra and Mohd.Ghulam as a steel trading company, entered automotive
manufacturing in 1947. M & M one of the largest vehicle manufacturer is an Indian
multinational automobile manufacturing corporation headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra,
India and more than $16.5 billion multinational group and 200,000 employees in over 100
countries.
Currently, Mr. Anand Mahindra is the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra &
Mahindra. His leadership has helped make M & M as a global company and strong competitor.
Mahindra offers cars, electric vehicles, pickups, two wheelers and commercial vehicles that are
reliable, environmentally friendly, and fuel-efficient. Willy’s Jeep was their first vehicle that
runs in the roads of India.
Mission and Vision
Mission Statement

to get up and come to work in the morning”

Vision
The vision of the company is to be the ‘Leading independent player in the global Gears &
Transmissions Space’.
Justification: - Mahindra and Mahindra want to be among the top 10 automotive brands in the
world. M & M Motors wants to become India’s largest manufacturer of automobile and
automobile parts with creating one of the strongest distribution networks. They also want to
increase their customer’s base by providing a huge variety in their product portfolio,
differentiation, quality control and sale and services so that they can use the concept of Push
Strategy.
Moreover they more rely on building the healthy relationship with each and every class of the
people like
 Investor relation
 Industrial relation
 Safety, Occupational Health and Environment for their employees
 Corporate Social Responsibility which they include projects like Project Nanhi Kali,
Mahindra Pride Schools, Scholarships and Grants, Mahindra Search for Talent
Scholarship and many more.
Core Purpose
“We will challenge conventional thinking and innovatively use all our resources to drive positive
change in the lives of our stakeholders and communities across the world, to enable them to
Rise”.
Justification: - M & M wants to provide the sufficient benefits to their employees,
stakeholders, consumers and public welfare.
 Employees getting benefits via sufficient compensation, healthy working environment
and motivate the employees so that they can think out of the box.
 Stakeholder getting highly returns on their funds that they invested. For example after
launching Mahindra Scorpio on June 19, 2002 and how the shares of M & M jump!! And
investors got huge returns.
 Consumers will get value to their money.
 CSR Contributions towards better environment like plantation, eco-friendly waste
disposal, Renewable Energy in Manufacturing etc.
Core Values
The Core values of the Mahindra Group are an amalgamation of what they have been, what they
are and what they want to be. These are

Strategy implication
The Mahindra Group has a new tagline, which reflects a new strategy.
 Now onwards The Mahindra brand logo will read as Mahindra Rise which may lead to
express innovation, no such limitation in their creativity and ultimate derive a positive
change.
 Any employee from any post/designation can participate not in actual day to day
operations, but also make strategic decisions that have significant strategic implications
on Mahindra’s national and global business operations.
 Maintaining efficiency in their operations/process so that to reduce the wastage of all the
various resources.
Parameters of Competitive Advantages
 Well diversity in product line
 Getting huge success in SUV market ( Scorpio by Mahindra)
 Advertising and Promotions Strategy
 Pricing Strategy: to be a premium brand yet having universal appeal
 Distribution Strategy - Serve less markets at a time but serve them well
Future Directions
At current state M & M is at no.4 position after Marauti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Ford in
Domestic market, M & M still trying acquire at no.1 position. Moreover they are trying to get
joint venture in markets like Spain, Italy, South Africa, Indonesia, and Russia for marketing of
Scorpio.
