do you like?”
“There are a lot of
engineers who
speak English
around the world”

This magazine shows a loto f
informations to understand why
people should study engineering and
which is the hard of learning in this
major. But, we need to remember
that everything is built by engineers.
Because, they are the only one who
know how to innovate everything
around of them. The scentials began
with them and will finish with them.
This talk about a specific topic to
understand why we choose
engineering as a major for studying.
Something created by a student at
Santiago Mariño Polytechnic
University Institute.
Importance of English for
Engineers
Reasons why an Engineer should be fluent
in English:
 For success in any field, one has to
know, understand and communicate
effectively. In the era of liberalisation,
privatisation and globalisation,
communication skills is the key to
success.
 For success in any field, one has to
know, understand and communicate
effectively. In the era of liberalisation,
privatisation and globalisation,
communication skills is the key to
success.
For communication purposes, an engineer
must bear these things in mind:
 Most of the theories are taught in
English language. For this reason, an
expected level of proficiency in English
language would be essential.
For professional purposes, English may
come in very handy. Here are some of the
reasons:
 In today's world, employers seek
graduates with sound communication
skills, along with technical engineering
knowledge.
 Having good communication skills is a
valuable asset for any organisation.
Professionals with strong hold on
English language are set in higher level
of standards in the organisation.

Engineering and the
environment
Nowadays, the urban growth has an
important character due for the impact that
the civil works produce in the environment,
causing a big deterioration.
As a place of population growth,
commercial and industrial activity, cities
concentrate the use of energy, resources
and the generation of wastes to the point
where both artificial and natural systems
become overloaded and the capacities to
manage them are overwhelmed.
This situation is worsened by the
population growth of cities that is
increasing quickly. The civil works have
some relevant and known impacts where
the alteration of the natural environment
stands out. Most of the great works are
submitted, in their project phases to the
evaluation of their environmental impact.
The execution of large civil works have
other important impact on populations and
crops, as well as on the natural
environment, which is derived from the
emission of large amounts of dust and
particles.
Civil engineers must avoid or minimize
all impacts or negative effects on the
environment. Civil Works do not have to
be placed in any territory as if it did not
matter at all. They must be fully and
efficiently integrated into the environment,
interacting well with people and the place.
Article 3
Ethic for
Engineers
1. 1. Engineers consider the utmost
importance to the safety, health and well-
being of the public and shall endeavor to
comply with the principles of sustainable
development in the exercise of their
professional functions.
2.
2. Engineers must provide services
only in areas of their competence.
3.
3. Engineers must issue public
statements only objectively and truthfully.
4. Engineers must act in professional
matters for each employer or client as
agents or faithful representatives, and
they should avoid conflicts of interest.
5. Engineers must build their
professional reputation on the merit of
their services and will not be able to
compete unfairly with others.
6. Engineers must act in a manner that
maintains and enhances the honor,
integrity and dignity of the engineering
profession, and they will act with zero
tolerance for bribery, fraud and corruption.
7. Engineers should continue their
professional development through-out
their career, and they should offer
opportunities for the professional
development of engineers under their
supervision.
