Video games are a new thing to libraries, but they've been well established in our culture for over 30 years. In order to reach out to all of our unique patron groups, video games in libraries should be embraced by librarians as a way to connect with our community. This presentation will focus on educating librarians on how to start a video gaming program at their public library. Taking a simple, cost effective approach, the aim of this presentation is to remove any worries about gaming in libraries and instead replace them with positive, forward thinking ideas.

‘Insomnia57’ was a great
experience due to the fact
that I love playing games
and I was surrounded by
people that loved playing
games. Every person that
I bumped into were polite
and had manners which is
amazing. If you ever get the
chance to go to ‘Insomnia’
you should go due to the
fact that it is one of the
best gaming festivals out
there. You will get to meet
some famous people that
usually show up at the
event, some of the famous
people that I saw were
‘Syndicate’, ‘The Yogscast’
etc.
‘Insomnia’ is one of the biggest UK’s
gaming festival, it is held a couple of
times throughout each year. Thousands
of people around the world come together
to enjoy one of the biggest gaming festi-
vals. By having the event happen a couple
of times throughout the year it allows
people that couldn’t make it to the one
before come to the next one. In ‘Insom-
nia57’ there were loads of different things
going on at the same time, but the most
interesting part of it was the eSports,
this is because it has been going loads
throughout the years. There were differ-
ent eSports held there such as Counter
Strike: Global Offensive, League of Leg-
ends, Rocket League etc. Loads of people
around the world love to spend loads of
time on playing games, if they are dedi-
cated to put in much more time into
playing the game that they want to, they
could get onto a team and go compete in
some eSports. Esports is something that
allows people around the world to show
their skill on a game, this means that
people are able to compete against each
other and they will see who is the best at
it. The prize pools at tournaments have
been going up for popular games such
as Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter
Strike: Global Offensive etc. This means
that it is getting more difficult for people
to get to the tournaments because the
skill of players is getting better and better
each year. Overall the gaming community
has been growing loads over the years es-
pecially with new games coming out each
year which make people around the world
go out and purchase a game which looks
interesting.
It was a great experience because I got to see some of
the biggest youtubers in the world. Another thing that was
really interesting at the event was all of the consoles that
were 10 years ago and consoles that were made recently
, it shows the audience how technology has changed over
the years by having the old consoles out and then the new
consoles out with the new games. Also there was loads
of prizes you could win while walking around the festival.
Overall I think that ‘Insomnia’ is a great gaming festival to
go to due to the fact that loads of famous youtubers go
and there and if you ever wanted to meet one you can and
the fact that thousands of people around the world come
together to enjoy a gaming festival is incredible.
