Gaming, Then and Now
Gaming today is very well known world-wide. My mum
is old enough to remember when digital
entertainment did not exist. Ancient Treasures show
our ancestors played board games thousands of years
ago. I wonder hmmmmmm…… Was it Snakes and
Ladders or Monopoly? Well years ago Mrs. Fletcher
was playing Pacman on big, chunky arcade machines.
Today I can play on games where you shoot peoples
heads off and their brains splatter all over the wall. I
can tell you now….. Gaming back then was nothing
compared to what it is now!

In 1977, the first gaming console was invented. This
was very exciting because now gaming had been
introduced, more people could enjoy playing it. The
console was named Atari 2600, which I’m guessing
Mrs. Fletcher had. The Atari 2600 owned a popular
game called Space Invaders. Millions of people today
still enjoy playing Space Invaders.

The first computers were the TRS-80 and the Apple ().
The Apple () was the first computer to have screen.
Different computer game genres were released in
later years. Nowadays Computers Graphics and
Quality are EXTREMELY HIGH! Computer games can be
accessed from anywhere all over the world. Today
some computers are wireless and you can access the
internet 24/7.

Virtualized Gaming can be awesome and great fun.
Consoles like the Wii use movement and motion
sensors to figure out what the player is trying to do.
Wii has accessories like steering wheel, for different
game genres. For example you would need a steering
wheel to play racing games. I’ve played Wii before…..
I wasn’t very good at it. Well at this point you’ll be
wondering what console should I get? Well lots of
consoles have evolved over the years. For example the
Playstation has evolved into the Playstation 3. Also
the Xbox has evolved into the Xbox 360. Nowadays
gaming consoles around the world are in vicious
competition. Unfortunately Gaming can be addictive
and addiction is bad for your health. Depending on
your game preference you can probably choose any
console you want just don’t get too carried away with
your game.
