Supervision of Instruction
August 28, 2021
Father in heaven, we humbly come
before you and glorify your
Holiness. Being as such, we
acknowledge less about our pride
and differences but more may we
embrace the values of unity,
cooperation, fairness and justice,
compassion and humility for the
common good of all, especially our
learners.
Enlighten us with Your wisdom and
guidance as we do our part and
share in attaining quality education
for our children, our learners. In
doing our duties help us to maintain
our integrity and self-mastery.
PRAYER
With Your grace enfold us and be our
greatest strength in learning to live
the true meaning of love and honesty
that never fails for the common good.
Teach us to live one day at a time in
celebrating the processes and
milestone of educational
development and growth by
accepting our negligence, our failure,
and treat them as a challenge in
leading to the pathway educational
success through continuous
improvement.
Grant us the serenity in embracing
the things we cannot change and
courage to change the things we can
as you lighten us to know the
difference.
For now Father, bless all of us here,
our MAEd students and teachers
and all our education leaders, and
the whole world. May all of us be
instruments to make a difference
for this country, especially to all
our learners and for Your glory as
we entrust all our activities
through faith into Your care as You
make us better and accountable
stewards in public education, and
public service. Amen!

• Lesson 2.
Making Things Better: Implementing and Enriching the
Curriculum
• The first lesson reviews the basics of curriculum development.
Although your school might be currently implementing a curriculum
formulated at the national or district level, it would still be helpful for
you to know the principles involved in its construction.
• Lesson 1 also provides guidelines on how a curriculum is translated
into reality or how it is turned into actual school activities.
• Lesson 2 will help you formulate guidelines for making the curriculum
effectively respond to the school’s changing realities. The lesson also
familiarizes you with the concept of curriculum leadership.
Flow of Instruction
Lesson Focus Topics
1. Making Things
Work: Practicing
Curriculum
Leadership
Provides the basics
of curriculum development
and implementation and
curriculum leadership. This
lesson also discusses the
challenges of practicing
curriculum leadership in
Southeast Asian countries.
•Curriculum Basics
•The Components of the
Curriculum Development
Model
•Curriculum Leadership
•The Challenges in Practicing
Curriculum Leadership
2. Making Things
Better:
Implementing and
Enriching the
Curriculum
Describes how to formulate
guidelines for making the
curriculum effectively respond
to the school's changing
realities. This includes
exploring how to guide
teachers in preparing an
enrichment curriculum.
•Curriculum Implementation
•How Should a Curriculum be
Implemented
•Factors Affecting curriculum
Implementation
•Determining and Assessing
Curriculum Implementation
Effectiveness
•Curriculum Enrichment
• An area of responsibility which requires certain critical tools for you to use is
the curriculum. This is the basic instructional framework. It supports the
mission, vision and objectives of your school. According to Hass and Parkay
(1993), the curriculum refers to “all the experiences that individual learners
have in a program of education whose purpose is to achieve broad goals
and related objectives .
• This is planned in terms of a framework for theory and research on past and
present professional practice.” Essentially, a curriculum is a framework that
contains the subjects to be taught to a certain group of students (Marsh,
1992) and how to teach them (Farris, 1996). Therefore, the curriculum is the
grand plan that directs all intended learning activities in your school. For
your school to achieve educational success, you need to have a curriculum
that is not only well prepared and complete, but also addresses instructional
learning needs in the best way possible.
