Henry Ford Industry Research Paper
Henry Ford and the Expansion of the Ford Industry Ford, the name almost every person in
America associates with the successful car industry. However, not everyone understands how
Henry Ford made the world wide business as we see it today. Nearly a century ago Henry Ford
and his son Edsel procured blazing success for the Ford car industry from 1920 to 1924, to end
up re nurturing the flickering flame from 1925 to 1929, while also benefiting and promoting other
industries of the time. When the Ford company entered the 1920 s, they were struggling to get
past financial difficulties. To buy out minority stockholders and to begin work on a new factory on
the Rouge, Ford had to take out a sixty million dollar loan. The deadline for repaying this... Show

They even made sure to secure several miles of railroads to transport their materials back and
forth (Geldermen). Edsel invested his time and money in ventures that he thought would benefit
others, including the Roscoe B. Jackson Cancer research Center in Bar Harbor, Maine (Bak
128). According to The Age of Automobiles , the demand of cars created a demand for more and
longer roads. This resulted in the first large scale concepts of highways. Along with highways
came the conveniences needed to accompany longer trips. These being gas stations, motels, and
the first fast food shops. The huge amount of cars that Ford and their competitors were putting
out had to have these accommodations or else sales wouldn t nearly be as high as they were.
Geldermen also explained the rise of the timber production, the surge of sawmills, the increase
of freighters to carry the materials, and the demand for glass work were due to the cars being
produced. The Age of Automobiles also suggests that vacationing and traveling increased
productivity in places most visited. Understanding how the Ford automotive company rose and
fell can help see how the businesses were always changing in the 1920 s and how a strong
business can last for a very long time once a dedicated person establishes it. Overall the Ford
company almost always increased in size. The cars produced by this company are still iconic in
today s world and show a past of determination. Why walk when you can

Cannabinoid Therapeutic Analysis
CBD has positive effects on reducing and managing psychotic, anxiety, and depressive like
behaviors. The mechanisms appear to be related to the CBD s benefit to provide enhanced
neuroprotection and inhibition of excessive neuroinflammatory responses in neurodegenerative
diseases and conditions. Common features involving neuroprotective mechanisms influenced by
CBD oxidative stress, immune mediators, and neurotrophic factors are also important in conditions
such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postconcussion syndrome, depression, and anxiety.
Many studies confirm that the function of the ECS is markedly increased in response to pathogenic
events like trauma. This fact, supports the role of cannabinoids and their interactions with CB1...

Patients with alcoholism often go through cycles of binging on alcohol, stopping for short periods
of time due to experiencing feelings of remorse for behavior done under the influence and
inevitably returning to drinking in excess. (Mikuriya, 2004). Additionally, long term use of
excessive amounts of alcohol can lead to debilitating diseases and eventually death. Cannabis
though, has been shown in some cases to be an effective substitute for alcohol aiding patients in
their struggle to reduce or stop alcohol use. (Mikuriya, 2004) With its relatively benign side effects,
this makes cannabis a more favorable alternative. In Mikuriya s (2004) study, 92 patients who had
alcohol addictions used cannabis primarily to treat alcoholism, with patients listing depression,
pain, and insomnia among secondary reasons for use. Patients were interviewed, and medical
records reviewed for information regarding the extent of alcoholism and any current or former
treatments (Mikuriya, 2004). During follow up visits, typically every 12 months, patients reported
what conditions they were using cannabis to treat, as well as how effective they found the
treatment to be (Mikuriya, 2004). Of the patients that reported back, 45 ranked using cannabis as a
very effective treatment, and 38 ranked it an effective treatment option. (Mikuriya, 2004). While
total abstinence was an unattainable goal for some patients,

The boy is fourteen, the girl is twelve... And their last name is Wiggin. (p.227) But Graff

this time except that we have determined that Locke and Demosthenes have no foreign connections
and have no connections with any domestic group, either... (p.228). This show that the fact that

So during the voyage, after breakfast and morning exercises, Ender and Graff would usually talk.
About Command School. About Earth. About astronomy and physics and whatever Ender wanted

that they also don t have any communication devices on their ships... (p.248) ...but somebody

important of it that Ender learned about the buggers, which they don t communicate like our

The Legalization Of Marijuana And Marijuana Essay
Marijuana or Cannabis is one of the bused drugs in America and the rest of the world. Interesting
accumulating evidence show that the significant negative impact of this drug outweighs the
positive effects. However, the medical benefits of the drug seem on the process of chemical
compounds as compared to the drug itself. Medical debates show that chemical compound in
marijuana are the problem as compared to the plant. The said chemical compound affects the
mental and physical health of the persons abusing this drug. There have been traditional efforts to
control the use of marijuana through legislation laws, (Crick, Haase, Bewley Taylor, 2013).
However, in the recent past the efforts and the laws are being lifted to relax the implementation of
the same legislations and the population is responding fast in accepting the legalization of the use
of marijuana. The aim of this paper is to discuss how lifting on the laws of the said drug indicate
adverse tolerance of Cannabisamong populations. The paper will also discuss impact of legalization
marijuana on the safety, security and overall quality of human life. Also, the paper will analyses the
effect of relaxation of the laws controlling this drug to other hard core drugs such as cocaine, heroin
and meth amphetamines among others.
Available scientific evidence indicate that marijuana contain a useful chemical that treats several
mental disorder illnesses. The useful purpose of this drug has prompted a long standing debate as

individuals per unit area. This method requires species specific detection coefficients or probability
function obtained from the relationship between number of detections and distance from observer.

abundance of all species combined. Absolute abundance is an estimate whereas relative abundance
is an index.

Theories Of Family
After a few hours of reading I began to wonder where my family fit into these theories, then I
realized that I was not reading the ?Handbook of Abnormal Family Theories?.
I wanted to start this week with some questions / statements about a few of the theories. Starting
with Bereavement theory, I would be interested to find out if there is a significant difference in the
effect size when the loss of relationship is permanent (due to death) as compared to the temporary
loss (due to situations where a parent might forbid a relationship between the child and
grandparent). There was also a brief mention that grandparents are not definitively defined because
of the differences in relationships, but I would still like more incite as to where the ... Show more

In reality some of it upset me a little because there are a lot more theories driven by human greed
than by love. Ideally I hope to be altruistic in my actions in a means to provide a model for my
children. I hope to do this not so I can reap the benefits, in fact I hope that my children do not
have to spend a day of their lives taking care of me or my wife. Rather I want them to provide
those services to people who either have no other means of support or who?s children are driven
by the greed aspects. Noticeable I was a bit sarcastic, but that is because I tried to find some humor
in the morbidity of some of these theories. As too the idea mentioned in one area where people with
means tend to procreate less than those without, altimetry spreading services and attention thin
because they had to cover a greater number. This reminded me of a film where the smart people
were procreating less often and the not so smart people were avid breeders, in the movie there was
critical point where the not so smart people greatly outnumbered the smart people. This point was
when major societal problems began, all on account of democracy where majority rules, the not so
smart people ended up controlling the governments of the

W.H. Auden s The Average and Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken mutually explore fate and how
decisions affect it. Auden considers this through a young man s journey towards the future while
Frost conveys it through a reflection on a past choice. The parents of Auden s protagonist
metaphorically killed themselves with toil granting him the opportunity to seek a profession that

Frq 1775 to 1830 Slavery in America
In the time period between 1775 and 1830, African Americans start to gain more freedom in the
North while the institution of slavery expanded in the South. These changes occurred due to the
existence of different point of views. The North did not need slavery and acknowledge the cons of
slavery while the South s want for slavery quickly became a need. After the American Revolution,
The North slowly started to rid itself of slavery while the South implemented slavery into their daily
lives. Slaves existed right from the start of American history and during the American Revolution.
The British used the African American slaves to their advantage by granting them freedom in
return. In Lord Dunmore s Proclamation of 1775, he stated that... Show more content on

During this time period, the treatment of slaves improved because they were treated more like
humans rather than farm animal. Some slave owners even allowed their slaves to purchase their
freedom by working for them for a certain amount of time. Some African American slaves were
not as lucky for their masters forbid them to do so (Doc F). As the North finally gets rid of all
slave activity, the South becomes more and more dependent on slave labor and more embedded
into the system. Both free and enslaved Africans were discriminated against in this time period
but responded differently towards their challenges. African Americans found ways to cope with
their situation one being religious gatherings (Doc D). They sang old traditional African songs
and danced. By doing so, they can forget about life troubles for a moment and give themselves a
sense of hope that someday they would by free. Some slaves where more violent than other and
began rebellions against their white owners. The use of rebellion was inspired to them by the
Bible and that God was pleading for their cause with earnestness and zeal (Doc G). Slaves who
caused mischief was relocated deeper south where the treatment and condition was even worse.
The Fugitive Slave Law forced the North to send back any slaves who escaped to the North in
return for a reward. Slaves who tried to escape to the North were also relocated. By relocating
them, the chances of escape decreased for them. Even

How Is Jay Represented In The Great Gatsby
Gatsby s Representation How would it feel to have false rumors spread about you simply
because people hardly knew anything about you? In the book, The Great Gatsby, this is exactly
what happens to one of the characters. The generous characteristic of Jay Gatsby is also his
downfall, since he gets taken advantage of by others. First, let s discover what exactly makes Mr.
Gatsby a generous man. Second, we ll observe how he s taken advantage of. Then understand the
result of these factors and how it leads to his downfall. Nevertheless, being courteous and refined
has always been a quality trait, which Jay demonstrates repeatedly within the book. Perhaps it is
because Mr. Gatsby knows what it is like to have nothing, being that his parents were farmers, that
his demeanor is quite different than the rest of the characters in the story. The question is why does
he throw these outrageous parties? The gathering is quite grand, with outstanding hospitality to all
that walk through the door. Although he is mysterious to many, he exhibits politeness to everyone
he comes in contact with. Even so the more important matter of it all is that it is based upon one

Role Based Access Controls
Role Based Access Controls
June 16, 2013
Professor M. Hansen
In order to establish system design controls that are directly related to the data input mechanism
of a network and in order to control data entry operations and prevent unauthorized access to
information or data; Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) are required. The basic principle of
these controls is that the data entry personnel, on any level, should be allowed limited access to
only specific information in order to get their jobs done. Because of higher data requirements, more
data access streams, higher employee turnover and outsourcing of data entry processes there are
many avenues where data can acquired illegally from an outside source and within the organization
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many applications, RBAC is concerned more with access to functions and information than
strictly with access to information. (Gupta, 2004)
The Common Criteria also note the following: security policies defined for systems ... used to
process classified or other sensitive information must include provisions for the enforcement of
discretionary access control rules. That is, they must include a consistent set of rules for
controlling and limiting access based on identified individuals who have been determined to
have a need to know for the information. (Kim, 2012) The date input control is another
challenge, When you have several people entering data in your database, you can define how
users must enter data in specific fields to help maintain consistency and to make your database
easier to manage. Role based input control provides data input control. Free text input control,
though unavoidable in forms that need information from the user; should avoid using text boxes
and text areas as much as possible. It can be difficult for the user to enter content into free text
input controls such as text boxes and text areas. Instead, rely on radio buttons, select boxes, and
even lists of links. Check boxes are a commonly used input control; a check box is a small square
box that allows the user to select an item or to deselect it. The user makes this decision by clicking
in the small square box. The control is normally configured with the square box being white

The Turn Of The Screw By Henry James
Michael Walker Mr. Murray Intro to Fiction March 25, 2015 Turn of the Screw There are
numerous approaches to view The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James. From being in class
talking about the book I seen that there was distinctive comprehension of the book. The Turn of
the Screw is a typical representation of the contention in the middle of great and fiendishness. I
will translate the phantoms of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel as insidious powers. I perceive that
the phantom just seem to the tutor in light of the fact that malice slinks in nuance before it
strikes. It is the obligation of the tutor to identify and avert insidious. She must shield the kids
from the horrendous phantoms. The tutor portrays Miles and Flora as wonderful little heavenly
attendants whose just blame is their tenderness (James, 18 19). I see the youngsters excellence as
an image of the profound flawlessness of which man is competent. A piece of the book discloses
the phantoms endeavors to achieve the kids by clarifying that malice strengths will dependably
attempt to overcome and have the human soul. To draw from the depictions of Miles and Flora to
bolster his hypotheses. He brings up that the two kids are portrayed as having a saintly stunner and
a positive scent of immaculateness (James 9, 13). The tutor depicts them as though they are
flawless and wonderful inside and out. This rehashed vision of excellence, brilliance, and
blamelessness parallels the picture of Eden. The house at

Writing Is Itself A Technology Summary
The Influence of Technology in Writing
Technology plays a huge role in today s society. Humans have been using the technology for years
for almost everything in life. When it comes to today s generation, people tend to rely so much on
technology in order to help them with their writing. In the article Writing Is Itself a Technology,
Clinton R. Gardner writes about the importance of using technology, how it affects the student s
writing skill in a better way, and how it advances student writing. On the other hand, Norm
Goldstein, the author of Speed Kills Good Writing Skills stands against the usage of technology in
student s writing skill. Although many may argue about this topic, Gardner debates on this issue
and gives his readers well supportive evidence on why technology is not harmful for students in his
article. He provides some information concerning how it s sympathetic for students to use
technology in their writing. First, he mentions how writing and chatting online can be extremely
useful in order for students to get feedback regarding their writing. Second, they have the
opportunity to share their writing via online and can be seen by almost everyone around the world.
Third, it gives the ability for students to write in a well structured way using the right words and

those scenes feel flat, but Young Oprah Winfrey plays Bigger s mother. That means everyone can
enjoy the film. In addition, the movie changes how the audience views the story of Bigger by
putting the novel in context of the thirties. People can view the story instead of just imagining it.

A True Hero Essay
A hero could be anybody ranging from a standard everyday person to an amazing human being
that saves lives. The way that a person becomes a hero is no different compared to other people. I
think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of
overwhelming obstacles. (Christopher Reeve) This quote shows how an everyday person could be
a heroin the littlest way. Nobody needs to have superpowers to be a hero, doing what is right to
make everything have a better outcome, could make anyone a hero.
A real and true hero would be willing to sacrifice him or herself to help out another person.
Whether it s saving their life or just a little thing like taking a blame for them. For example,
while fighting for his country, he lost an arm and was suddenly afraid (Cassian 64). This
evidence shows how a man sacrificed himself while fighting for others and his country in war.
This resulted in him losing something that belonged to him, making everything in life twice as
hard for him now. Also, a true hero will stand up for what is right and what he or she believes in,
instead of following up of what others think. This could relate to anything if it is standing up for
rights, or their beliefs such as religion and culture. Lastly, a true hero would help someone out
without expecting some kind of award or to become famous. For example, say if someone helps
the police with catching a criminal, a true hero would not question or expect to receive a reward
for helping them out. At the end, if anyone acts self centered or is not willing to make sacrifices
to help others, they are not a hero. In contrast, a true hero would not only care about themselves
rather than also caring about others, as in being selfish. A hero would not put himself first when
someone else is in need of help. For example, if a person had a minor issue compared to someone
else and refused to help them out to deal with their own minor problem, they are self centered. A
real hero would also not just ignore someone when they are in need of some help. They should
help them out just because that makes them a good person. To illustrate, if someone was in a big
dilemma and they needed help, person would just ignore them or

Women In College Degrees
Introduction
The female advantage in educational attainment is not a new phenomenon. More women than men
have graduated from college since 1950. The percentage of American women who are earning
college degrees has steadily increased over the past 50 years, and currently there are more women
than men earning every type of college degree. There are many explanations for this trend,
however, this analysis will focus on three areas including Feminism, Marriage and Divorce, and
Economic Factors.
Feminism and Gender Revolution
Beginning in the late 1960 s young women s expectations of their future labor force participation
began to change radically. Rather than follow in their mothers footsteps, women s aims have been
for careers, not just jobs, and these careers have begun to differ from the traditionally female
occupations of women in the past. Today, women are steadily filing into occupations that were
historically men s domains. In addition to the modern possibilities of a greater investment in
professional careers has come the availability of the contraceptive pill. Because of contraceptives,
women are better able to plan their futures without the burden of ... Show more content on

A college degree has replaced a high school diploma for entry into the middle class job market. In
the past, a responsible, hard working individuals could get by without a degree, but today, it is
almost impossible to get a good paying job without a college degree. It is also becoming
increasingly difficult for families to survive on one income as economic times become more
unstable and so more and more women are recognizing that they will be required to have an
education and seek employment in order to help provide security for their families. Careers
resulting from college degrees are more flexible, family friendly and provide higher wages which is
beneficial to a dual income

Owl Woman Descriptive Writing
There was little time to wonder before a swift kick hammered into her temple. Blinding pain tore
through her body. Defensively, she curled up, wrapping her arms around her head. Tan tak kle ah

she worked her way around the stalagmites toward the chasm. As she neared, orange glow at the

Adolf Hitler Diary
Adolf Hitler, a man who was once a hero to Germany is now it s greatest enemy. He had tore
apart the country piece by piece ever since he came into power. Hatred was the only thing that
had kept him alive. At this point, he was a walking carcass. His bunker was like his coffin. The
Fuhrer had gone to the Bunker for peace from war, yet he was getting the exact opposite of what
he dreamed of. The Allied forces had continued to bomb Berlin wiping out all of his troops in
groups at a time. Due to these constant mass killings of soldiers, Hitler had ordered to send out the
Hitler Youth. They were young boys who still had a whole life ahead of them, but instead their
futures were ruined by war. A war that seemed, at this point, useless to continue on. At least for the
Germans it seemed dumb to keep fighting. The Fuhrer had rejected the idea of... Show more content

Saltwater Experiment
Fresh water is less dense than salt water, which causes fresh water to accumulate on the top
surface of the salt water. In the brine experiment, I concluded that freshwater has a density of 1.0
g/ml and salt water has a density of 1.025g/ml. After removing the cups of salt water and
freshwater from the freezer it was evident that the freshwater was frozen throughout, however the
salt water had a layer of water below the freezing fresh water.
Salt water freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water. As fresh water freezes, it forces the salt
out. When seawater freezes, the salt is forced out of the ice in a process called brine exclusion .
Therefore, sea ice is essentially fresh water (Worster, 1992). The removed salt increases the salinity

Dense, cooler, and usually nutrient rich water moves towards the ocean surface, replacing the
warmer, usually nutrient depleted surface water (Vizcarra, 2015). Changes in the force and
direction of ocean currents will affect the availability of nutrients. The top layer of the ocean
collects the warmth and energy of sunlight, while the bottom layers collect the rich, nutrient filled
sediment of decayed plant and animal matter (Vizcarra, 2015). These nutrients are carried by the
conveyor belt to other ocean regions and supply nutrient rich materials to areas that would have low
amounts of nutrients if the thermohaline circulation didn t exist. Ocean life is dependent on these
nutrients for sustainment. It would lead to an imbalance or even destruction of certain food chains.
Before sinking, the water absorbs enormous amounts of gases such as carbon dioxide at the ocean
surface, and then transports them to greater depths (Vizcarra, 2015). Marine plants use dissolved
carbon dioxide, sunlight, and water to make carbohydrates through the process of photosynthesis.
This process releases oxygen into the water. All marine organisms use oxygen for respiration. If
thermohaline circulation is changed it will affect the amount of these gases that are available and
essential for the survival of marine

Adam in Milton s Paradise Lost Essay
Adam in Paradise Lost : Fate s Ruler and Subject
A central problem in John Milton s Paradise Lost in the theological issue of free will versus fate, a
traditionally much debated question. Free will is the condition of having control or direction over
fate or destiny; the individual shapes his life and future through his actions. The opposing view,
complete lack of free will (made famous by John Calvin), is predestination, which expresses the
idea that our futures have been foreseen long before our existences, so our actions are preordained,
and our paths chosen for us. Milton s presentation of the character Adam wrestles with these ideas
around free will throughout Paradise Lost; while he does in fact eat the apple of his own ... Show

Calvin states that God has already planned the fates and actions of all men, and their deeds
foreordained. The opposing view, that man has free will, is therefore the opposite; man decides
his own fate, his actions shape the course of his singularly individual existence. Which, then, does
Adam represent in Paradise Lost ? We first meet Adam in depth in Book V, where Eve awakens
from her disturbing dream of temptation and Adam must assuage her fears and anxiety over such
an unusual and foreboding vision. Here Adam states explicitly, in his argument against the danger
of the dream, that it is not a prediction of things to happen because she still has reason to control
her actions. His exact words, on lines 116 to 121:
But with addition strange; yet be not sad. Evil into the mind of God or Man May come and go,
so unapprov d, and leave No spot or blame behind: Which gives me hope That what in sleep thou
didst abhorr to dream, Waking thou never wilt consent to do.
With this, Adam plainly asserts that human consent has priority over any preconceived plan. He
could have stated that the dream meant nothing because God did not conceive of that in His plan
but instead he comments on the necessity to act in choosing a moral stance.

• How Does The Sympathetic Nervous System Prepare Your...
Your Body s Response to Emergency
How does the body prepare for emergencies? The answer lies in the Sympathetic Nervous System
(SNS). It is the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that controls the body s reaction
to physical and emotional stressors. The sympathetic branch activates the glands and organs that
defend the body against attack. It is called the fight or flight response.
This is a primitive response designed to protect from danger. When danger is perceived, the
sympathetic nervous system responds immediately to prepare a person to stay and fight or take
flight. Blood rushes away from nonessential systems such as the digestive and excretory systems
and is redirected to the extremities. The heart beats faster to ... Show more content on

The glucose obtained from the liver cells produces a surge in energy better known as an adrenaline
rush . The hormones also bind to receptor cells on smooth muscle and inhibit the muscles of the
stomach and intestines, slowing down the digestive process and allowing more energy for
emergency functions. When these hormones bind to the smooth muscle cells of the bronchioles,
they cause the muscles to relax allowing more oxygen into the blood. At the sinoatrial node of the
heart, epinephrine stimulates the pace maker cells to beat faster. Epinephrine also contracts certain
types of muscles below the skin, causing beads of sweat and raised hairs. Once fight or flight has
taken place, another branch of the ANS, the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) can take over
again, calming everything down and returning body processes to normal.
The fight or flight response is useful in the short term because it assists the body in responding
quickly and effectively in emergencies. However in the long term, the sympathetic response can
become harmful. This is because the functions of sympathetic activation can put additional stress on
the nervous system. If the sympathetic system remains highly active, the parasympathetic response
will not activate and return the body to homeostasis. This means the body does not get the chance
to recover from stress causing a number of physical and psychological disorders.
In conclusion, the brain is a complex organ with the ability to cause

Doctor David B. Resnik generally describes these basic rules in his online article: What is Ethics in

subjects protection.
Dr. Resnik describes Human Subjects Protection as: minimize harms and risks and maximize

As we know this is not what happens. Due to, what I believe to be, Victor s God Complex he
takes it upon himself to create an entirely new species (Shelley, 44) and in doing so maximises
the harms and risks to his human and animal communities, as he is unaware of the nature of his
creation or what dangerous power it could possess. Not only this but by creating his monster he
makes it vulnerable to the world it is born into as it was made as a solitary creature, with no
special precautions taken to protect it. As well as this, the process of Victor s scientific experiment
completely disregards any ideas of respecting human dignity, privacy, and autonomy as he, in his
own words, collected bones from charnel houses, and disturbed, with profane fingers, the
tremendous secrets of the human frame (Shelley,

Taking what happened in the interactions and decided what category of class management was
being utilized out of our possibilities. Also, how Junie B. reacted to each style of teaching

reaction correlating with it. After deciding what our topic was going to deal with we decided to
pull examples from real life that also illustrated our main ideas, so, the group also pulled examples
of classroom management from bulletin boards seen in classrooms at the schools Raymond F
Brandes and Creston that included clip system of disciplinary action, expectations of reading
comprehension in grade levels, and a smiley to frown face disciplinary system. Within the four
books we found that between the interactions of three different teachers Junie B. was exposed to
PEP styes of teaching, authoritative styles of teaching, authoritarian styles of teaching, and
permissive styles of teaching.
Keeping in mind that this table is only based off of four books in the Junie B. series and the
entire series is twenty eight books in total with eighteen set when Junie B. is in Kindergarten
interacting with Mrs. and sometimes Principal, while only ten books in the series take place when
Junie B. is in first grade interacting with Mr. Scary its is safe to say that each young reader, if they
read the entire series, is getting a heavier dose of permissive, and authoritarian class management

The Effects Of Trauma
Trauma can be described as a severe emotional or mental distress caused by an experience that
impedes one s ability to cope. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2000), Traumatic
experiences can significantly alter a person s perception of themselves, their environment and the
people around them. Traumatic experiences can manifest itself and, in turn, have a greater impact

Freight Quote
eShippers What to Look For In a Freight Quote Before Tying the Knot You have a shipment that
is ready to leave your warehouse: It is time to get some freight quotes. But how will you know
when you ve found the freight quote for you? Some low freight quotes are wickedly tantalizing,
but they are just not backed up with a solid fleet of trucks, a new fashioned tracking system, and
established relationships with stakeholders at each stage of the process. So How Do You Find The
Freight Quote You Want To Commit To? Your freight quote should be complete, meaning that all
parts of the logical process have been assigned a quote, which ends up as part of the freight quote s
total. If you are shipping freight from America to England, you need to check that all domestic
actions, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Remember, your shipper will be paying out most of the amount you pay them to other parties.
Does your freight quote including international shipping insurance? While many shipping
companies leave this cost off of their freight quote, it should be included as part of the cost of
moving your goods. Even if your shipment is all packed up and ready to go, there may be some
packing materials that will be necessary as your freight moves towards it destination, and, if so,
this cost should be listed. This Freight Quote Has Everything. I Think I Am In Love. One more
thing. If a freight quote seems too good to be true, it probably is. Shippers who take outstanding
care of your products will not be able to do so for cost that is wildly lower than other freight
quotes. So, do your homework: Compare several freight quotes before you decide that it is time to
tie the knot. And make sure that the freight quote that catches your eye comes from an established
shipper, like eShippers, who have been around for more than 18

What Is The Real Igbo Religion In Things Fall Apart
Chinua Achebe chose to include a native Igbo religion in for Umuofia Village culture in his
novel Things Fall Apart. He calls this Igbo religion Agbala Oracle (the Oracle of the Hills and
Caves) which he bases on a historic Nigerian religion. That historic religion was known as Awka
Oracle that was destroyed by the British. The events surrounding the destruction of the real Awka
Oracle and the fictional Agbala Oracle are strikingly similar. The real Awka Oracle was
destroyed and entire villages were wiped out in retaliation for the killing of one British subject.
Thomas Liu recounts the events as follows: On November 16th, 1905, a British man, known as
J.F. Stewart, riding his bicycle arrived in Ahiara was killed by the native warriors.

Anne-Marie Slaughter-Why Women Still CanT Have It All
Being at the Top is Great, But....... In Anne Marie Slaughter s essay Why Women Still Can t
Have It all, Slaughter wants to incorporate her professional success and family to have a
balanced life. Slaughter is the president and CEO of the New American Foundation, a nonprofit,
nonpartisan public policy institute and has worked as director of policy planning for the U.S.
State Department. Slaughter is concerned about not being a supportive mother to her children
because of work issues. Her career requires her to work for long periods of time while juggling
reports and writing commentaries on drafts, leaving little room to spend time with her family. I
agree that working in a high position job can have a negative effect on how most women view
their success because they are constantly working without being able to put their energy to
something they value family. Slaughter has two teenage boys who need her attention, especially
since her 14 year old son is misbehaving in school. She receives calls in Washington, D.C. during
work, but her son lives in New Jersey and there was not much she could do. While working in
Washington, D.C., she is only able to come home on the weekends and for two teenage boys
spending time with their mother only on the weekends is not enough. When Slaughter s two year
public service was over she immediately went home to her family. Slaughter was excited to leave
her job, but others viewed this as a disappointment. These reactions caused her to think

The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in the Middle East Essay
The Palestinian Israeli Conflict in the Middle East
The Arab world is not in a compromising mood... Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get
anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force
of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary
Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was
established. The Arabs held this mentality in a time when Israel was not yet a fact. This trait was
hereditary in the sense that it was taught to their children, who taught it to their children, and so on.
Those are the people who are living in Arab countries, and still despise everything about Israel ...

Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel
shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes
(Regan 22).
The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip,
which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This
inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s
conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries
but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the
best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their
enemies? Of course not.
From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from
one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the
violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab
citizens of Israel who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54).
However that did not appear to stop the terror in the region or make peace with its neighbors. On
October 14, 1956 Egyptian President Nasser said, [o]ur hatred is very strong. There is no sense in
talking about peace with Israel. There is not the smallest place for negotiations

Distribution Power Systems Project Analysis
B. Gupta et al. (2007) [32] Currently distributes systems support different computing paradigms like
Cluster Computing, Grid Computing, Peer to Peer Computing, and Cloud Computing all involving
elements of heterogeneity. These computing distributed systems are often characterized by a
variety of resources that may or may not be coupled with specific platforms or environments. All
these topics challenge today researchers, due to the strong dynamic behaviour of the user
communities and of resource collections they use. D. Card et al.(2007)[33] This paper presents a
review on distributed generation planning in the distribution power system networks from different
power system performances such as minimization of real and reactive power loss... Show more

In this paper, with the help of the advanced automation and information technologies, a new
hydraulic regulation method was proposed to achieve on site hydraulic balance for the district
heating systems with distributed variable speed pumps configuration. The proposed method was
comprised of a new hydraulic model, which was developed to adapt the distributed variable speed
pumps configuration, and a calibration model with genetic algorithm. By carrying out the
proposed method step by step, the flow rates of all distributed pumps can be progressively adjusted
to their designated values. A hypothetic district heating system with 2 heat sources and 10
substations was taken as a case study to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method. Two
scenarios were investigated respectively. In Scenario I, the flow rate of one substation varied
according to its heat demand and the flow rates of other substations maintained their original
values. And in Scenario II, the flow rates of all substations varied synchronously with the same
relative rate. The results of the both scenarios indicated that all pumps could be properly adjusted to
their designated flow rates by the proposed method with a high frequency adjustment resolution as
0.001 Hz. H. F. Deng et al.(2007)[35] Currently, increasingly transactional requests require high

Persuasive Essay On The Cold War
Who remembers the horrors of World War II with Hitler and the Holocaust? Hitler was ruthless and
destructive and his actions inexcusable. Our good friend Stalin notably came to our aid near the
end of the War to which we are immensely grateful. However, we must not let this fact blind us of
the current situation. The Soviet Unioncontinues to claim Eastern Europeas protection from German
aggression; however, they are spreading an alarming amount of communist control and we need
to get involved. I m sure I can speak on behalf of all of us that we do not want a repeat of the
mentioned event. In order to maintain peace in Europe and the world, the best course of action to
prevent a nuclear war would be for the U.N. to end the spread of Communism by isolating Russia
and bringing the communist nations to our side by giving them foreign aid. Right now we face a
political war that has evolved militarily. We are a free, democratic organization fighting against a
communist party that is rapidly spreading their influence in Europe and creating dissension all over.
The Iron Curtainrepresents not only this ideological barrier, but has come to be a physical matter.
The military standoff on the Iron Curtain threatens the safety and security of Europe as well as
creates a division in the continent and between the nations. With the Iron Curtain in effect, Stalin
has broken our agreements made in the Yalta conference and maintains complete control over the
nations in Eastern Europe. These

Initial Literacy Assessment Report From Tch 209 I Am...
Initial literacy assessment report
For this semester of TCH 209 I am working with a second grade girl named Yainany. After taking
a few running records I found out that she is at a level H reading level which would be the
equivalent of a high first grade reader. To get to know my student I printed out a readingsurvey and
a get to know you worksheet. The reading survey was asking questions about what genres of books
she likes, what are some of her favorite things (books, tv shows, animals, sports, characters, jobs,
activities), if reading is fun for her, if reading is easy for her, if she reads at home, and how she
likes to read. The get to know you worksheet had her color her own person based on some of her
favorite things like her favorite color, if she likes to read, her favorite subject, the color of her eyes,
and how many siblings she has. These helped me get to know her as a reader and as a person by
knowing how she reads and what interests her. One assessment that I did with my student was
three running records. I did a Level J book, a Level I, and a Level H book. For the first book, Level
J, she got an 85% which was not high enough to be her reading level. I then went to a Level I book
and she got an 92% which was still not high enough to be her reading level. The last book I did
in my running records assessment was the Level H book and with that book she got a 95% which
was high enough to be her reading level and she does a great job reading books at that level.

The Great Train Robbery, And The Great Train Robbery
The Western times were times of legends, cowboys, train robberies, and valiant acts of courage.
There are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I
wanted to discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both
The Great Train Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robberyby Andy Thomas convey
how the west was a place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes
the train robberyand how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive,
whereas Andy Thomas emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When
the group of train robbers robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still
being intelligent about robbing the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man
at gunpoint right in front of a police officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked
behind the door then they would have been busted and the robbery would have been
compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness was that they forced everyone out of
the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless because if anyone had seen
people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known something bad was
happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For example when
they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The smartest
thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all the
passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed down
and would increase the chance of them getting caught.
These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities
they both wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of
violence to get the job done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of
the day while the art work did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at
the train yard while the artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show
how the west

Wide Sargasso Sea By Jhumpa Lahiri Essay
In the novel Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys and the short story The Treatment of Bibi Haldar by
Jhumpa Lahiri, both stories manage to have many similarities. Jean Rhys and Jhumpa Lahiri write
about how both characters, Antoinette and Bibi Haldar, are unaccepted by their societies.
Antoinette and Bibi Haldar are misfits in their communities because they do not conform to cultural
norms, their communities and peers believe they have illnesses, and both come from dysfunctional
families. In Wide Sargasso Seaby Jean Rhysand the short story The Treatment of Bibi Haldar by
Jhumpa Lahiri, both authors use the characters stories, memories, and communities treatment to
argue that they were outcasts because of the patriarchal society they live in. In Wide Sargasso Sea,
the main character is Antoinette Cosway. She is a young Creole woman who comes from a
dysfunctional family. Her father, Alexander Cosway, dies before his character could be
introduced. He was a former slave owner who had a plantation, Coulibri Estate, and was very
wealthy. His name was tainted because his fondness of alcohol and he recklessly spent his money.
People visited her father, Alexander Cosway, when he was alive, but not her or her mother,
Annette. Antoinette asked her mother why so few people came to see [them,] she told [Antoinette]
that the road from Spanish Town to Coulibri Estate where [they] lived was very bad and that road
repairing was now a thing of the past (Rhys 15). In that quote,

Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley
To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are
on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you
can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person
and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same
situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the
trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you
think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important
moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference
between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... Show more

I disagree with Thompson that it would be impermissible to re direct the trolley because even
though in both cases one person dies from an action you take, the action has different moral
standards of reason of what is right and what is wrong. Most people agree that it is morally
permissible to turn the trolley killing the one man to save people five and it is wrong to push a
fat man from a bridge to save five people. Most people believe this because they know that there is
a distinct moral difference between incidentally killing someone and intentionally killing someone.
Intentionally killing some one is a universal law that has serious consequences which is why
people view pushing the fat man off the bridge as

Model Rocket. It was his first time traveling alone, when he had to go observe some model
rockets launches at Swan Falls Idaho. Just a distance of about fifty miles seemed like a path of
no return, because he did not know the place, nor the way. Quiet and reverent, no music in the
car, following the direction of the GPS carefully, his mind was well set. It was six in the morning.
The outside was still dark. Every other vehicle he could see was a rocket. Every other sound he
heard besides his own car s was a rocket s explosion. This rocket jubilee began turning to a

The Poster Girl For Mexican And Feministic Art
Frida Kahlo was not predestined to be the poster girl for Mexican and feministic Art and part of
one of the most talked about marriages of the XXth century.
She was born into a lower class home in the suburbs of Mexico City. Her mother (whom she called
mi jefe my chief (Herrera, 1983, p14)) brought her up to be a good housewife and a believer
(Herrera, 1983).
Although she only started getting involved with it later, it was her father whom played a big part
into her discovery of the arts (Herrera, 1983). It could be believed the concept of male female
collaboration was always present in her life as her father, a photographer brought Frida along to
work whenever he needed help. Her first serious encounter with painting occurred after she
survived a car crash whose injuries left her in a full body cast for three month and on extended
bed rest (Herrera, 1983). Seeing their daughter fall into despair from this intense physical pain
and loneliness, Frida s mother had an easel made for her and her father lent her paints (Herrera,
1983). Because she could not get out of bed, she started painting what was available to her:
portraits of friends [...], family [...] and of herself (Herrera, 1983, p64). It was at this time Kahlo
started her self portrait series, a style which later would earn her the praises of Pablo Picasso and
/ became famous and praised for. Although she had never envisioned an artistic career for herself,
Frida was very ambitious with her work and became

The Role of Woman
Throughout the course of the semester I feel as thought the roles of women from the readings we
have read all relate to each other. I don t think that the roles of women in British and colonial
society changed much, if not at all. Each reading that we have read, the women s role is mainly to
stay home with her children to raise them and tend to them while the husband works and makes the
income while sheltering his family. Another role that the women throughout these time periods is
that most of them don t know the outside world because of not doing much but raising their
children. A role of women throughout British and colonial society is that the pressure of society
influences on them. The only role of women that changed throughout these periods was their
freedom and privileges.
During the Victorian Age, the Angel in the House displayed the roles of women in British and
colonial society. The Angel in the House was your ideal women and a part of the upper class in
society. This woman was educated, as she would teach her children how to read. The Angel in the
House was very devoted to her husband, but most of the time she was relatively unhappy. Two
readings that talk about the roles of the women, is the Angel in the House is the poem Angel in the
House by Patmore and the reading Of Queens Garden by Ruskin.
The poem is about Patmore and how he sets up a model of his wife insisting that that s how women
should be. This woman is held up to many expectations and as a

  • 2. Henry Ford Industry Research Paper Henry Ford and the Expansion of the Ford Industry Ford, the name almost every person in America associates with the successful car industry. However, not everyone understands how Henry Ford made the world wide business as we see it today. Nearly a century ago Henry Ford and his son Edsel procured blazing success for the Ford car industry from 1920 to 1924, to end up re nurturing the flickering flame from 1925 to 1929, while also benefiting and promoting other industries of the time. When the Ford company entered the 1920 s, they were struggling to get past financial difficulties. To buy out minority stockholders and to begin work on a new factory on the Rouge, Ford had to take out a sixty million dollar loan. The deadline for repaying this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They even made sure to secure several miles of railroads to transport their materials back and forth (Geldermen). Edsel invested his time and money in ventures that he thought would benefit others, including the Roscoe B. Jackson Cancer research Center in Bar Harbor, Maine (Bak 128). According to The Age of Automobiles , the demand of cars created a demand for more and longer roads. This resulted in the first large scale concepts of highways. Along with highways came the conveniences needed to accompany longer trips. These being gas stations, motels, and the first fast food shops. The huge amount of cars that Ford and their competitors were putting out had to have these accommodations or else sales wouldn t nearly be as high as they were. Geldermen also explained the rise of the timber production, the surge of sawmills, the increase of freighters to carry the materials, and the demand for glass work were due to the cars being produced. The Age of Automobiles also suggests that vacationing and traveling increased productivity in places most visited. Understanding how the Ford automotive company rose and fell can help see how the businesses were always changing in the 1920 s and how a strong business can last for a very long time once a dedicated person establishes it. Overall the Ford company almost always increased in size. The cars produced by this company are still iconic in today s world and show a past of determination. Why walk when you can ... The mechanisms appear to be related to the CBD s benefit to provide enhanced neuroprotection and inhibition of excessive neuroinflammatory responses in neurodegenerative diseases and conditions. Common features involving neuroprotective mechanisms influenced by CBD oxidative stress, immune mediators, and neurotrophic factors are also important in conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postconcussion syndrome, depression, and anxiety. Patients with alcoholism often go through cycles of binging on alcohol, stopping for short periods of time due to experiencing feelings of remorse for behavior done under the influence and inevitably returning to drinking in excess. (Mikuriya, 2004). Additionally, long term use of excessive amounts of alcohol can lead to debilitating diseases and eventually death. Cannabis though, has been shown in some cases to be an effective substitute for alcohol aiding patients in their struggle to reduce or stop alcohol use. (Mikuriya, 2004) With its relatively benign side effects, this makes cannabis a more favorable alternative. In Mikuriya s (2004) study, 92 patients who had alcohol addictions used cannabis primarily to treat alcoholism, with patients listing depression, pain, and insomnia among secondary reasons for use. Patients were interviewed, and medical records reviewed for information regarding the extent of alcoholism and any current or former treatments (Mikuriya, 2004). During follow up visits, typically every 12 months, patients reported what conditions they were using cannabis to treat, as well as how effective they found the treatment to be (Mikuriya, 2004). Of the patients that reported back, 45 ranked using cannabis as a very effective treatment, and 38 ranked it an effective treatment option. (Mikuriya, 2004). Interesting accumulating evidence show that the significant negative impact of this drug outweighs the positive effects. However, the medical benefits of the drug seem on the process of chemical compounds as compared to the drug itself. Medical debates show that chemical compound in marijuana are the problem as compared to the plant. The said chemical compound affects the mental and physical health of the persons abusing this drug. As the North finally gets rid of all slave activity, the South becomes more and more dependent on slave labor and more embedded into the system. Both free and enslaved Africans were discriminated against in this time period but responded differently towards their challenges. African Americans found ways to cope with their situation one being religious gatherings (Doc D). They sang old traditional African songs and danced. By doing so, they can forget about life troubles for a moment and give themselves a sense of hope that someday they would by free. Some slaves where more violent than other and began rebellions against their white owners. The use of rebellion was inspired to them by the Bible and that God was pleading for their cause with earnestness and zeal (Doc G). Slaves who caused mischief was relocated deeper south where the treatment and condition was even worse. Hansen In order to establish system design controls that are directly related to the data input mechanism of a network and in order to control data entry operations and prevent unauthorized access to information or data; Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) are required. The basic principle of these controls is that the data entry personnel, on any level, should be allowed limited access to only specific information in order to get their jobs done. Because of higher data requirements, more data access streams, higher employee turnover and outsourcing of data entry processes there are many avenues where data can acquired illegally from an outside source and within the organization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In many applications, RBAC is concerned more with access to functions and information than strictly with access to information. (Gupta, 2004) The Common Criteria also note the following: security policies defined for systems ... used to process classified or other sensitive information must include provisions for the enforcement of discretionary access control rules. That is, they must include a consistent set of rules for controlling and limiting access based on identified individuals who have been determined to have a need to know for the information. (Kim, 2012) The date input control is another challenge, When you have several people entering data in your database, you can define how users must enter data in specific fields to help maintain consistency and to make your database easier to manage. Role based input control provides data input control. Free text input control, though unavoidable in forms that need information from the user; should avoid using text boxes and text areas as much as possible. It can be difficult for the user to enter content into free text input controls such as text boxes and text areas. Instead, rely on radio buttons, select boxes, and even lists of links. From being in class talking about the book I seen that there was distinctive comprehension of the book. The Turn of the Screw is a typical representation of the contention in the middle of great and fiendishness. I will translate the phantoms of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel as insidious powers. I perceive that the phantom just seem to the tutor in light of the fact that malice slinks in nuance before it strikes. It is the obligation of the tutor to identify and avert insidious. Humans have been using the technology for years for almost everything in life. When it comes to today s generation, people tend to rely so much on technology in order to help them with their writing. In the article Writing Is Itself a Technology, Clinton R. Gardner writes about the importance of using technology, how it affects the student s writing skill in a better way, and how it advances student writing. On the other hand, Norm Goldstein, the author of Speed Kills Good Writing Skills stands against the usage of technology in student s writing skill. Although many may argue about this topic, Gardner debates on this issue and gives his readers well supportive evidence on why technology is not harmful for students in his article. He provides some information concerning how it s sympathetic for students to use technology in their writing. First, he mentions how writing and chatting online can be extremely useful in order for students to get feedback regarding their writing. • 21. A True Hero Essay A hero could be anybody ranging from a standard everyday person to an amazing human being that saves lives. The way that a person becomes a hero is no different compared to other people. I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. (Christopher Reeve) This quote shows how an everyday person could be a heroin the littlest way. Nobody needs to have superpowers to be a hero, doing what is right to make everything have a better outcome, could make anyone a hero. A real and true hero would be willing to sacrifice him or herself to help out another person. Whether it s saving their life or just a little thing like taking a blame for them. For example, while fighting for his country, he lost an arm and was suddenly afraid (Cassian 64). This evidence shows how a man sacrificed himself while fighting for others and his country in war. This resulted in him losing something that belonged to him, making everything in life twice as hard for him now. Also, a true hero will stand up for what is right and what he or she believes in, instead of following up of what others think. This could relate to anything if it is standing up for rights, or their beliefs such as religion and culture. Lastly, a true hero would help someone out without expecting some kind of award or to become famous. For example, say if someone helps the police with catching a criminal, a true hero would not question or expect to receive a reward for helping them out. At the end, if anyone acts self centered or is not willing to make sacrifices to help others, they are not a hero. In contrast, a true hero would not only care about themselves rather than also caring about others, as in being selfish. A hero would not put himself first when someone else is in need of help. For example, if a person had a minor issue compared to someone else and refused to help them out to deal with their own minor problem, they are self centered. A real hero would also not just ignore someone when they are in need of some help. They should help them out just because that makes them a good person. To illustrate, if someone was in a big dilemma and they needed help, person would just ignore them or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The percentage of American women who are earning college degrees has steadily increased over the past 50 years, and currently there are more women than men earning every type of college degree. There are many explanations for this trend, however, this analysis will focus on three areas including Feminism, Marriage and Divorce, and Economic Factors. Feminism and Gender Revolution Beginning in the late 1960 s young women s expectations of their future labor force participation began to change radically. Rather than follow in their mothers footsteps, women s aims have been for careers, not just jobs, and these careers have begun to differ from the traditionally female occupations of women in the past. After removing the cups of salt water and freshwater from the freezer it was evident that the freshwater was frozen throughout, however the salt water had a layer of water below the freezing fresh water. Salt water freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water. As fresh water freezes, it forces the salt out. Dense, cooler, and usually nutrient rich water moves towards the ocean surface, replacing the warmer, usually nutrient depleted surface water (Vizcarra, 2015). Changes in the force and direction of ocean currents will affect the availability of nutrients. The top layer of the ocean collects the warmth and energy of sunlight, while the bottom layers collect the rich, nutrient filled sediment of decayed plant and animal matter (Vizcarra, 2015). These nutrients are carried by the conveyor belt to other ocean regions and supply nutrient rich materials to areas that would have low amounts of nutrients if the thermohaline circulation didn t exist. Ocean life is dependent on these nutrients for sustainment. It would lead to an imbalance or even destruction of certain food chains. Before sinking, the water absorbs enormous amounts of gases such as carbon dioxide at the ocean surface, and then transports them to greater depths (Vizcarra, 2015). Marine plants use dissolved carbon dioxide, sunlight, and water to make carbohydrates through the process of photosynthesis. This process releases oxygen into the water. • 26. Adam in Milton s Paradise Lost Essay Adam in Paradise Lost : Fate s Ruler and Subject A central problem in John Milton s Paradise Lost in the theological issue of free will versus fate, a traditionally much debated question. Free will is the condition of having control or direction over fate or destiny; the individual shapes his life and future through his actions. The opposing view, complete lack of free will (made famous by John Calvin), is predestination, which expresses the idea that our futures have been foreseen long before our existences, so our actions are preordained, and our paths chosen for us. Milton s presentation of the character Adam wrestles with these ideas around free will throughout Paradise Lost; while he does in fact eat the apple of his own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Calvin states that God has already planned the fates and actions of all men, and their deeds foreordained. The opposing view, that man has free will, is therefore the opposite; man decides his own fate, his actions shape the course of his singularly individual existence. Which, then, does Adam represent in Paradise Lost ? We first meet Adam in depth in Book V, where Eve awakens from her disturbing dream of temptation and Adam must assuage her fears and anxiety over such an unusual and foreboding vision. Here Adam states explicitly, in his argument against the danger of the dream, that it is not a prediction of things to happen because she still has reason to control her actions. His exact words, on lines 116 to 121: But with addition strange; yet be not sad. Evil into the mind of God or Man May come and go, so unapprov d, and leave No spot or blame behind: Which gives me hope That what in sleep thou didst abhorr to dream, Waking thou never wilt consent to do. With this, Adam plainly asserts that human consent has priority over any preconceived plan. He could have stated that the dream meant nothing because God did not conceive of that in His plan but instead he comments on the necessity to act in choosing a moral stance. ... It is the branch of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) that controls the body s reaction to physical and emotional stressors. The sympathetic branch activates the glands and organs that defend the body against attack. It is called the fight or flight response. This is a primitive response designed to protect from danger. When danger is perceived, the sympathetic nervous system responds immediately to prepare a person to stay and fight or take flight. Blood rushes away from nonessential systems such as the digestive and excretory systems and is redirected to the extremities. The heart beats faster to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The glucose obtained from the liver cells produces a surge in energy better known as an adrenaline rush . The hormones also bind to receptor cells on smooth muscle and inhibit the muscles of the stomach and intestines, slowing down the digestive process and allowing more energy for emergency functions. When these hormones bind to the smooth muscle cells of the bronchioles, they cause the muscles to relax allowing more oxygen into the blood. At the sinoatrial node of the heart, epinephrine stimulates the pace maker cells to beat faster. Epinephrine also contracts certain types of muscles below the skin, causing beads of sweat and raised hairs. Once fight or flight has taken place, another branch of the ANS, the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS) can take over again, calming everything down and returning body processes to normal. The fight or flight response is useful in the short term because it assists the body in responding quickly and effectively in emergencies. However in the long term, the sympathetic response can become harmful. This is because the functions of sympathetic activation can put additional stress on the nervous system. If the sympathetic system remains highly active, the parasympathetic response will not activate and return the body to homeostasis. This means the body does not get the chance to recover from stress causing a number of physical and psychological disorders. In conclusion, the brain is a complex organ with the ability to cause ... • 38. Ethics In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein During this presentation we will explore some of the key morals and ethics of medical science presented in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. On January 1st 2018 the tale of Frankenstein will have been around for 200 years. However, his legacy, as we know, will continue almost indefinitely. Ironically, achieving what Victor Frankenstein was unable, physically, to do: preserve life. Mary Shelley s novel has fascinated millions for its many controversial topics, the most intriguing and debate inducing, being the moral questions that it presents. By many, Mary Shelley s Frankenstein can be seen as a warning towards any new type of scientific research being developed. For myself, and many others, it is not only this but a book of morals to learn from. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doctor David B. Resnik generally describes these basic rules in his online article: What is Ethics in Research Why is it Important? . Out of the 16 rules stated Frankenstein breaks 7: honesty, carefulness, openness, social responsibility, legality, animal care and most noticeably human subjects protection. Dr. Resnik describes Human Subjects Protection as: minimize harms and risks and maximize benefits; respect human dignity, privacy, and autonomy; take special precautions with vulnerable populations . As we know this is not what happens. Due to, what I believe to be, Victor s God Complex he takes it upon himself to create an entirely new species (Shelley, 44) and in doing so maximises the harms and risks to his human and animal communities, as he is unaware of the nature of his creation or what dangerous power it could possess. Not only this but by creating his monster he makes it vulnerable to the world it is born into as it was made as a solitary creature, with no special precautions taken to protect it. As well as this, the process of Victor s scientific experiment completely disregards any ideas of respecting human dignity, privacy, and autonomy as he, in his own words, collected bones from charnel houses, and disturbed, with profane fingers, the tremendous secrets of the human frame (Shelley, ... There are some that even believe that Junie B. actually has some form of learning disability. But what if all of her disciplinary issues, her shouting in class, her immaturity, and even some of her speech impediments stem from not her own learning incompetencies, but her teachers . Nations never concede; they fight. You won t get anything by peaceful means or compromise. You can, perhaps get something, but only by the force of your arms...But it s too late to talk of peaceful solutions (Bard 1). The Arab League Secretary Azzam Pasha said this statement on September 16, 1947, eight months before the state of Israel was established. Even though a cease fire was in effect, the war continued as Arabs closed the Suez Canal to Israel shipping and Israel (in retaliation) did not allow the 700,000 Arab refugees return to their homes (Regan 22). The problem was that no Arab State wanted those refugees so camps were set up in Gaza Strip, which was controlled by Egypt, and the West Bank, which was controlled by Jordan (23). This inability to find a home land for the people now called Palestinians would lead to many of Israel s conflicts with the Arab world. The Arabs did not want their Palestinian brothers in their countries but, for some reason, Israel, the Jewish State, was supposed to take them in even though it had the best reason not to. Was Israel, which had just won the war, now supposed to take back their enemies? Of course not. From 1949 to 1956, there was no peace in Israel, because Egypt continued attacking Israel from one side while Syria continued attacking from the other. In 1953, in order to try to stop the violence, Israel passed the Land Acquisition Law, offering payment for property taken from Arab citizens of Israel who lived there between May 4, 1949 and April 1, 1952 (Silverman 54). In this paper, with the help of the advanced automation and information technologies, a new hydraulic regulation method was proposed to achieve on site hydraulic balance for the district heating systems with distributed variable speed pumps configuration. The proposed method was comprised of a new hydraulic model, which was developed to adapt the distributed variable speed pumps configuration, and a calibration model with genetic algorithm. By carrying out the proposed method step by step, the flow rates of all distributed pumps can be progressively adjusted to their designated values. A hypothetic district heating system with 2 heat sources and 10 substations was taken as a case study to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed method. Two scenarios were investigated respectively. In Scenario I, the flow rate of one substation varied according to its heat demand and the flow rates of other substations maintained their original values. And in Scenario II, the flow rates of all substations varied synchronously with the same relative rate. The results of the both scenarios indicated that all pumps could be properly adjusted to their designated flow rates by the proposed method with a high frequency adjustment resolution as 0.001 Hz. H. Our good friend Stalin notably came to our aid near the end of the War to which we are immensely grateful. However, we must not let this fact blind us of the current situation. The Soviet Unioncontinues to claim Eastern Europeas protection from German aggression; however, they are spreading an alarming amount of communist control and we need to get involved. I m sure I can speak on behalf of all of us that we do not want a repeat of the mentioned event. In order to maintain peace in Europe and the world, the best course of action to prevent a nuclear war would be for the U.N. to end the spread of Communism by isolating Russia and bringing the communist nations to our side by giving them foreign aid. Right now we face a political war that has evolved militarily. We are a free, democratic organization fighting against a communist party that is rapidly spreading their influence in Europe and creating dissension all over. The Iron Curtainrepresents not only this ideological barrier, but has come to be a physical matter. The military standoff on the Iron Curtain threatens the safety and security of Europe as well as creates a division in the continent and between the nations. After taking a few running records I found out that she is at a level H reading level which would be the equivalent of a high first grade reader. To get to know my student I printed out a readingsurvey and a get to know you worksheet. The reading survey was asking questions about what genres of books she likes, what are some of her favorite things (books, tv shows, animals, sports, characters, jobs, activities), if reading is fun for her, if reading is easy for her, if she reads at home, and how she likes to read. The get to know you worksheet had her color her own person based on some of her favorite things like her favorite color, if she likes to read, her favorite subject, the color of her eyes, and how many siblings she has. These helped me get to know her as a reader and as a person by knowing how she reads and what interests her. One assessment that I did with my student was three running records. I did a Level J book, a Level I, and a Level H book. For the first book, Level J, she got an 85% which was not high enough to be her reading level. I then went to a Level I book and she got an 92% which was still not high enough to be her reading level. • 49. The Great Train Robbery, And The Great Train Robbery The Western times were times of legends, cowboys, train robberies, and valiant acts of courage. There are many different things you could discuss when talking about the Western era and I wanted to discuss the train robberies by comparing a film and a piece of artwork. Although both The Great Train Robbery by Edwin S Porter and Wilcox Train Robberyby Andy Thomas convey how the west was a place where you did what you had to do to survive.Edwin S Porter emphasizes the train robberyand how people would go to any length to get the money they needed to survive, whereas Andy Thomas emphasizes on the violence that the robbers endued on the train. When the group of train robbers robbed the train they did it in a more of a reckless manner while still being intelligent about robbing the train. The ways that they were reckless were holding a man at gunpoint right in front of a police officer. This was reckless because if the officer had looked behind the door then they would have been busted and the robbery would have been compromised. Another way that they showed recklessness was that they forced everyone out of the passenger train car and out onto the tracks. This was reckless because if anyone had seen people being forced out of their train cars then they would have known something bad was happening. Although they were reckless they also had some intelligent ideas. For example when they were as sneaky as possible when walking around the train yard that was smart. The smartest thing that the train robbers did in the film was when they detached the locomotive from all the passenger cars. It was a smart move because if they didn t then they would have been slowed down and would increase the chance of them getting caught. These works have many similarities and some large differences. To start with the similarities they both wanted money so they decided to rob a train. Also they both used some form of violence to get the job done. The differences are large and to start the film did it in the middle of the day while the art work did it in the night. Next was the location because the film did it right at the train yard while the artwork did it in what appears to be the middle of the desert. These show how the west ... Wide Sargasso Sea By Jhumpa Lahiri Essay In the novel Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys and the short story The Treatment of Bibi Haldar by Jhumpa Lahiri, both stories manage to have many similarities. Jean Rhys and Jhumpa Lahiri write about how both characters, Antoinette and Bibi Haldar, are unaccepted by their societies. Antoinette and Bibi Haldar are misfits in their communities because they do not conform to cultural norms, their communities and peers believe they have illnesses, and both come from dysfunctional families. Why Is It Morally Permissible To Turn The Runaway Trolley To begin with, the Trolley case is an experiment where you are put into a situation where you are on a runaway trolley where the breaks do not work and you are headed for five people and you can either hit the five people, killing them or save them by turning the trolley hitting one person and killing him. There is another scenario called the Footbridge case where you are in the same situation but in order to save the five people you have to push a fat man off a bridge stopping the trolley. This is very interesting experiment that questions human ethicsand morality. It makes you think whether or not it is morally permissible to turn the trolley. I argue that there is an important moral difference between the Trolley case and the Footbridge case because there is a difference between letting someone die to save people and killing someone to save people.... I don t think that the roles of women in British and colonial society changed much, if not at all. Each reading that we have read, the women s role is mainly to stay home with her children to raise them and tend to them while the husband works and makes the income while sheltering his family. Another role that the women throughout these time periods is that most of them don t know the outside world because of not doing much but raising their children. A role of women throughout British and colonial society is that the pressure of society influences on them. The only role of women that changed throughout these periods was their freedom and privileges.
