The study investigates the occurrence and diversity of ingoldian fungi in Kigga Falls, Chikmagalur District, Karnataka, identifying 24 species across 12 genera from foam and decaying debris samples. Environmental factors such as rainfall and vegetation types influence the distribution and abundance of these fungi, which play a crucial role in organic matter degradation within aquatic ecosystems. The research highlights the importance of these fungi in nutrient cycling and their potential impact on ecosystem functioning.
