Das Handling von passiven Events und deren Korrelation gehört nicht gerade zu den großen Stärken von Nagios und Icinga. Natürlich ist es mit Hilfe verschiedener Plugins und Addons möglich unterschiedlichste Quellen zu überwachen und auszuwerten, eine regelbasierte Verarbeitung und Langzeitspeicherung gestaltet sich jedoch meist schwierig.
Um eine lückenlos nachvollziehbare Kette an Logs und Events von Entstehung bis zur Speicherung sicherzustellen, stehen diverse Open Source Lösungen zur Verfügung. Werkzeuge wie Logstash, EDBC und statsd genießen in den letzten Monaten größer werdende Beliebtheit, werden jedoch häufig isoliert konfiguriert und betrieben. Die große Herausforderung besteht darin, die vorhandenen Werkzeuge miteinander zu verbinden um die individuellen Stärken optimal zu nutzen.
Neben einer Einführung in die verwendeten Tools, demonstriert der Vortrag eine konkrete Implementierung der beschriebenen Komponenten und deren Anbindung an Nagios und Icinga. Dies geht von der Installation und Konfiguration bis hin zu erweiterten Filter- und Korrelationsregeln.

All is not completely rosy in microservice-land. It’s often a sign of an architectural approach’s maturity that anti-patterns begin to be identified and classified alongside well-established principles and practices. Daniel Bryant introduces seven deadly sins from real projects, which left unchecked could easily ruin your next microservices project.
Daniel offers an updated tour for 2016 of some of the nastiest anti-patterns in microservices from several real-world projects he’s encountered as a consultant, providing a series of anti-pattern “smells” you can sniff out and exploring the tools and techniques you need to avoid or mitigate the potential damage.

Pride: Selfishly building the wrong thing, such as the "Inter-Domain-Enterprise-Application-Service-Bus” or a fully bespoke infrastructure platform
Envy: Introducing inappropriate intimacy within services by creating a shared “canonical” domain model

Opening Semantics 2016

Every time Alex demonstrates charts he produces during IO benchmarks with ORION tool (Oracle I/O Numbers), he hears "Wow! How do you build these?" In this session Alex will teach how to benchmark your storage subsystem and capacity and how to stress test it to the limits. You will learn how easy it is to setup ORION benchmark and collect I/O performance characteristics of your platform and assess scalability of small random I/Os, impact of writes on I/Operformance, impact of different RAID levels, how backups can affect your OTLP traffic, performance of outer areas of disks vs inner areas, and compare SSD with HDD performance. ORION tests are very repeatable so it's a great measuring tool in your Measure, Analyze, Change, Measure cycle.

Advanced Shell Scripting for Oracle professionals
There are a lot of tasks in Oracle world which would not be possible without a programming languages. Shell scripting can be applied to a wide variety of system and database tasks. In my presentation I will share advanced shell scripting techniques on real life customer success story migrating users from on premise Oracle Internet Directory (OID) instance to AWS OID instance. Migration with standard OID provided tools was not possible due to specific customer requirements. Therefore shell scripting came to achieve desired goals. I`ll give deep overview about issues faced during the scripting, troubleshooting techniques used, scripting performance aspects and solutions applied to make efficient user migration possible.
