LSC INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2016 Lone Star Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held at the Adams State Indoor
Bubble and Fieldhouse in Alamosa, Colo. on February 20-21.
	 The meet was scheduled to take place at the Texas Tech Athletic Training Center in Lubbock, Texas, but on
December 31 the roof of the ATC deflated due to Winter Storm Goliath canceling all events.
	 The Adams State facility has a 200-meter track with six lanes on the oval and eight sprint lanes. The entire
facility is a Beynon surface. The Indoor Bubble hosts several regular season meets and has been home to the
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championships in previous years.

MEN’S TRACK
Todd Handley, West Texas A&M University, JR, Riverside, Calif., King HS
Handley opened his WT career in style with a seventh place finish in the 60 meter dash at the University of New
Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational. His time of 6.86 is the fourth-fastest time in school history and fastest
time in the conference this season.
MEN’S FIELD
Duke Kicinski, West Texas A&M University, SO, Rhome, Texas, Northwest HS
Kicinski finished fourth in the shot put at the University of New Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational. His mark
of 52-3.25 (15.93m) is not only a personal best but is a provisional mark for NCAA Indoor Championships.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Victoria Rausch, West Texas A&M University, FR, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Sportlycee Luxembourg
Rausch rewrote the history book this weekend while picking up a provisional mark in the 60 meter hurdles.
Her time of 8.75 broke the previous freshman record of 8.88 set by Bailee Skeen in 2010. That time is also the
ninth-fastest time in school history and top time in the conference this season.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Lacy Harris, West Texas A&M University, JR, Raton, NM, Cimarron HS
Harris broke the school record in the pole vault with a provisional mark of 11-7.75 (3.55m) at the University of
New Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
	 Julian Clark-Coronado, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a superlative effort in the men’s 60-meter
dash at New Mexico and posted a time of 6.89 to qualify for the semifinals. On Saturday, his time of 6.91 earned
him sixth place in heat 2. Clark-Coronado also won his section of the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of
22.22.
	 Jared Bachman, Eastern New Mexico University, led the ENMU men’s field performers at the University of
New Mexico Cherry & Silver Invitational. He was the top non-NCAA Division I finisher in his flight of the shot
put, with a toss of 40-5.50 (12.33m). He also made a strong showing in the weight throw.
	 Sabrina Huelga, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a strong performance from the women’s indoor
track & field team at last week’s Cherry & Silver Invitational at University of New Mexico. Her time of 5:01.77 in
the mile run was just one second away from provisional qualification and ranks 18th in the nation. Huelga also
had a strong showing in the 3,000-meter run, with a time of 10:09.00.

The Eastern New Mexico University indoor track & field opened its season last week, with an impressive
showing at the University of New Mexico Cherry & Silver Invitational. Sabrina Huelga opened strong, and just
missed provisional qualification in the mile by a single second. Her performance currently ranks as 17th in the
nation. Huelga ranks first in the LSC in both the mile and 3,000-meter run. Julian Clark-Coronado led a strong
effort by the sprinters from the men’s team and reached the semifinals of the 60-meter dash. Next up for the
Greyhounds is a trip to Pittsburg State.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs had a successful start of their season at the University of New Mexico Cherry and Silver
Invitational picking up seven provisional marks. The Lady Buffs were led by Victoria Rausch,Lacy Harris, Holly
Cunigan and Norma Cunigan as they all picked up provisional marks in their respective events. Rausch broke
the freshman record in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.73 (8.75a). Harris broke the school record in the pole
vault with a mark of 11-7.75 (3.55m). The Buffs were led by Todd Handley, Trevor Greenfield and Duke Kicinski.
Handley finished seventh overall in the 60 meter dash in a conference leading time of 6.84 (6.86a). Greenfield
also finished seventh overall but in the 60 meter hurdles. His time of 8.21 (8.23a) is not only a personal best
but also is a provisionally qualifying time. Kicinski was the third and final Buff to pick a provisional mark with his
fourth place finish in the shot put. His mark of 52-3.25 (15.93m) was a personal best by over a meter. WT will
return to action this weekend when they travel to Pittsburg, Kan. to take part in the Pittsburg State Invitational.
