LSC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track & Field athletes have recorded six NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying
marks (5 men, 1 women) and 130 provisional efforts (71 men, 59 women).
ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Julian Coronado, Eastern New Mexico University, FR, Houston, Texas , Copper Canyon High School
Coronado registered an outstanding performance at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multis, and provisionally
qualified in two events. His time of 21.01 in the 200m leads the Lone Star Conference and is fifth in the nation.
Coronado also finished third in the 100m dash with a time of 10.60.
MEN’S FIELD
Asael Arad, Angelo State University, SR, Shapira, Raanana, Israel
Arad won his fifth javelin title of the season and recorded a season best at the ASU David Noble Relays. The
senior threw a NCAA Division II provisional-qualifying mark of 209-1 (63.72m). It is the No. 8 throw in all of
Division II currently.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Kaina Martinez, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, SR, Seine Bight, Stann Creek, Belize
Martinez could not be beaten this weekend as she gathered three first place finishes in the 100-meter dash,
200-meter dash, and the women’s 4x400 meter relay. Martinez ran top times of 11.63 seconds in the 100-meter
dash and 24.13 seconds in the 200-meter dash. The senior served as the last leg of the 4x400 relay team and
took first place with a time of 3:46.78. LaGae Brigance, Adriana Bonin, and Teandria Taylor were the other
members of the relay team.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Rellie Kaputin, West Texas A&M University, JR, East New Britian, Papa New Guinea, Kabagap Academy
Kaputin broke her own school record in the long jump at the WT Classic & Multi with a leap of 19-9.75 (6.04m).
That is the second-best mark in the LSC this year and fourth in the nation. She is one of five athletes to have
jumped farther than six meters. She also placed second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-5.75 (1.67m).
That is the sixth-best mark in school history.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Gilson Umunnakwe, Tarleton State University, was the final leg of Tarleton’s 4x400 meter relay that came in
second in a time of 3:13.62. Umunnakwe also had a third-place finish in the 400 meters (48.40) and a fourth-
place finish in the 200 meters (22.00) at the David Noble Relays at Angelo State University.
Steven Cooper, West Texas A&M University, had an impressive weekend at the WT Classic & Multi with a
victory in the 400 meters and a top ten finish in the 200 meters. His time of 47.64 is the 10th fastest time in
school history and third-fastest since the track & field program has been reinstated. Also in the 200 meters, He
was one of five Buffs to run a provisional time crossing the line in 21.48.
Luis Perez, Angelo State University, won the men’s 400-meters and ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter
relay at the ASU David Noble Relays. The senior ran a seasonal best and NCAA Division II provisional qualifying
time of 46.90 to move to No. 7 nationally. He also ran on the 4x400-meter relay that clocked its third NCAA
Division II provisional time of the season.
Kenneth Jackson, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, took first place in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter
dash at the David Noble Angelo State Relays this past weekend. Jackson ran a time of 10.46 seconds in the
100-meter dash and 21.20 seconds in the 200-meter dash. The junior was also on the men’s 4x100 meter relay
team who placed second with a time of 40.81 seconds. The other relay team members consisted of Lutalo
Boyce, Todd Nicholas, and Deon Hope.
Chantz Chambers, Tarleton State University, in his first meet of the season since transitioning from Tarleton’s
basketball team to the track, finished in third place in the long jump with a jump of 23-6 (7.16m) at the David
Noble Relays at Angelo State University. It’s the fourth-longest jump in the Lone Star Conference this season for
the dual-sport athlete and came .6 meters away from an NCAA provisional mark.
Lachie Calvert, West Texas A&M University, made a splash in his first decathlon as a collegiate winning the
event in a new freshman record at the WT Classic & Multi. His 6,384 points broke the previous record held
by David Ayers and provisionally qualifies him for the national championships. He currently sits in third in the
conference and No. 13 in the nation in the decathlon. He won six of the 10 events including the final four on the
second day including running 4:33.57 in the 1,500 meters. He also set a new personal best of 14-1.25 (4.30m)
in the pole vault during Saturday’s competition.
Deylinn Garrett, Tarleton State University, was the opening leg of the TexAnn 4x100 meter relay team that
finished first in a time of 46.80 at the ASU David Noble Relays. Garrett also finished second in the 100-meter
hurdles (14.31).
Kami Norton, Angelo State University, won the 100-meter hurdles and was second in the 400-meter hurdles
at the ASU David Noble Relays. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.11 and clocked a 1:02.11 for
second place in the 400-meter hurdles.

Libby Strickland, West Texas A&M University, now
owns the fourth-fastest time in school history in both
the 100 and 200 meter dash after her performances
this past weekend at the WT Classic & Multi. Her time
of 23.93 in the 200 meters is the fourth-fastest time in
the nation. She is one of five athletes to have broken
24 seconds in that event this season. She finished
second in the 100 meter running 11.78 which is the
ninth-fastest time in the nation this season. She also
picked up a provisional qualifying mark in the long
jump with a mark of 19-3.25 (5.87m).
Coley Norcross, Eastern New Mexico University,
registered a strong performance in the 5,000-meter
run at the West Texas A&M Classic & Multis. Her
third-place time of 19:28.62 was nearly 30 seconds
ahead of Midwestern State’s Leticia Shaban.
Roxana Hernandez, Tarleton State University, came
in third place in the high jump with a jump of 5-4.5
(1.64m) at the ASU David Noble Relays.
Adrine Monagi, Angelo State University, won
the heptathlon at the ASU David Noble Relays with
a season best and NCAA Division II provisional-
qualifying score of 5,021. The score is No. 2 in Division
II behind her teammate Kami Norton. Monagi also
recorded a NCAA Division II provisional mark in the
long jump with a jump of 18-10.75 (5.76m).
Alexis Aguirre, Eastern New Mexico University,
registered a first-place finish in the javelin throw at
the West Texas A&M Classic & Multis. Her throw
of 138-5 was nearly 12 feet ahead of the nearest
competitor. Earlier in the season, Aguirre became the
first Lone Star Conference competitor to provisionally
qualify in the event, and she currently ranks 17th in
the nation.

Eastern New Mexico
Julian Coronado placed a strong effort for the
Greyhounds at last weekend’s West Texas A&M
Classic & Multis. The freshman sprinter posted
qualifying marks in both the 100 and 200m dashes.
Coronado’s time of 21.01 in the 200m dash leads
the Lone Star Conference and ranks fifth in the
nation. Coley Norcross had a third-place finish in
the women’s 5,000m run, while the Greyhounds
dominated the javelin throw, with Alexis Aguirre
winning the vent. Ezra Bagwell was fourth after the
first day of competition in the decathlon, but moved
up to second place when the event concluded. This
week, Eastern will compete at the Mt. Sac Relays,
Texas Tech Red Raider Open, and Azusa Pacific Bryon
Clay Invitational.

Tarleton State
Tarleton Track & Field competed at the David Noble
Relays at Angelo State over the weekend and came
away with four first-place finishes. In the final
standings, the TexAnns finished third overall with
150.5 points while the Texans racked up 114 points
for fourth place. Angelo State won the men’s and
women’s team rankings. On the women’s side,
Tarleton’s 4x100-meter relay team of Deylinn Garrett,
Ariel Ballard, Hollie Boyd, and Alexondria Brooks
finished first in a time of 46.80. Aly Coughlin won
the 1500 meter, clocking a time of 4:45.42 while
teammate Katelin Huckabee came in second in
4:49.42. Huckabee’s time of 18:15.79 in the 5000
meter gave her another second-place finish. DeAijha
Hicks-Boyce had a pair of second-place finishes on
the day. Hicks-Boyce ran the 100-meter dash in 12.06
and the 200-meter dash in 24.55. In the 100-meter
hurdles, Tarleton’s Deylinn Garrett finished second
(14.31) and Molly Money came in third (14.65). Ande
Carlton ran the distance events for Tarleton and came
in third in two events: 800 meter (2:23.39) and the
1500 meter (5:21.13). On the men’s side, Dalton
Stidham won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of
14.35. Cade Hitzfeld finished in third in 14.76. Chase
Rathke gave the Texans a first-place finish in the
800 meter, running the event in 1:52.26. Tarleton’s
4x100-meter relay (Blake Eschbach, Clarencio
Guerrero, Randall Kadlacek, Gilson Umunnakwe)
came in second in a time of 3:13.62. Umunnakwe
also had a third-place finish in the 400 meters (48.40)
and a fourth-place finish in the 200 meters (22.00).
Thorne Pettigrew came in second in the steeplechase,
finishing the event in 10:08.71. Tarleton will compete
at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. on April
14-16 and the East Texas Invitational on April 16 in
Commerce.
Texas A&M-Commerce
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M University-Kingsville men finished in third
place as a team with 145 points at the David Noble
Angelo State Relays, while the women finished fourth
with 119 total points. Nine total teams competed
in the track meet. The Javelinas will return to the
track next weekend as they travel to Houston, Texas
to compete in the Rice Twilight hosted by Rice
University.
West Texas A&M
The No. 7 Lady Buffs and No. 19 had a great weekend
at the WT Classic & Multi that included 23 provisional
marks, 63 personal bests, three school records and
15 top ten marks. WT picked up nine of those 23
qualifiers in the men’s and women’s 200 meters.
Rellie Kaputin, Lacy Harris and Courtney Head all
broke school records while Harris tied the facility
record of 12-9.5 (3.90m) in the pole vault. Kaputin’s
leap of 19-9.75 (6.04) is the fourth-best in the nation
and second longest in the conference this year. Libby
Strickland had a great weekend on the track and long
jump pit. She ran the fourth-fastest times in school
history in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. Her time
of 23.93 in the 200 meters is also No. 4 in the nation.
She also picked up a provisionally qualifying mark in
the long jump. She ranks 11th with a mark of 19-3.25
(5.87m) in that event. Shanice Cameron and Jasmine
Pitts also picked up provisional times in the 100 and
200 meters while Bri Leper got a provisional time in
the 200 meters. The women’s 4x100 meter relay ran
45.91 which is the third-fastest time in the nation this
season. On the men’s side, Jamie Taylor-Caldwell
got the victory in the 1,500 meters on Friday running
3:50.82. That is the fastest time in the LSC this
season and provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA
Championships. Lachie Calvert was impressive in the
decathlon winning six of the ten events including the
final four to pick up a provisionally qualifier and break
the freshman record. Daniel Gyasi, Todd Handley,
Theo Piniau, Steve Cooper and Trevor Dennis all
picked up provisionally qualifying times in the 200
meter dash. Zach Weatherly had a great weekend
in the throws picking up three top-three finishes. He
finished second in the shot put with a mark of 55-7.75
(16.96m) while finishing third in the both the discus
and hammer throw.
