Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field athletes have recorded 21 NCAA Division II Automatic qualifying marks

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN’S TRACK
Malcolm Woods, Texas A&M University-Commerce, JR, Rowlett, Texas, Sachse HS
Woods earned an automatic qualifying time in the men's 100-meter dash at the David Noble Relays, with the third-
fastest time in the nation this season at 10.24 seconds. He was just 0.04 seconds behind the A&M-Commerce record
that has stood since 1967. He was also on the 4x100m relay team that earned a provisional qualifying time of 41.03
seconds, which ranks 2nd in the LSC and 11th in the nation this season.
CO-MEN’S FIELD
Nils Fischer, Angelo State University, SO, Dusseldorf, Germany
Fischer had the best javelin throw in all divisions last week with his throw of 244-6 (74.53-meters) at the David Noble
ASU Relays. It is the second best throw of his career and ranks No. 7 in Division II history. He improved his national lead
as all five of his throws measured at least 236-2 (72.00-meters).
Charles Greaves, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, SR, Bridgetown, Barbados, Ellerslie Secondary School
Greaves leapt ahead of the competition in the long jump on Sunday at the David Noble ASU Relays with an NCAA
automatic mark of 25-11 (7.90m) on his final attempt to take first place in the event. Greaves now owns the top mark in
the long jump and in the triple jump, which he set last week at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Kami Norton, Angelo State University, SR, Albany, Texas, Albany
Norton recorded seasonal best and provisional qualifying times in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter
hurdles at the David Noble ASU Relays. She ran a seasonal best of 13.85 to place second in the 100-meter hurdles and
followed it with the 400-meter hurdle title crossing the line in 59.84. She is ranked nationally No. 6 in the 100-meter

2. hurdles and No. 4 in the 400-meter hurdles. She later ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay along with Octavia Williams,
Kristin Wright and Kaitlyn Matthews that clocked a season best and provisional time of 3:47.64.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Daisy Osakue, Angelo State University, SO, Turin, Italy
Osakue made history by breaking the NCAA Division II collegiate outdoor record in the discus at the David Noble ASU
Relays. The throw measured 195-11 (59.72-meters) to break the previous record of 193-1 (58.87-meters) set in 2013,
and top the facility, David Noble ASU Relays, Lone Star Conference and Angelo State records. She also automatically
qualified for nationals in the shot put. The Turin, Italy, native recorded a personal best outdoor throw of 51-7.75 (15.74-
meters). She is No. 1 nationally in the discus and No. 3 in shot put.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Deandre Wade, Angelo State University, moved into the top five nationally in both the 200-meters and 400-meters
and was a key part of the 4x400-meter relay. The junior college transfer clocked a provisional and personal best of 21.01

3. in the 200-meters and 47.06 in the 400-meters. The 200-meter time is No. 4 in Division II and he placed third in the final
while his 400-meter time in No. 4 in Division II this season.
Marcus Parker, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a first place finish in the 200m dash at the West Texas
A&M Classic. His time of 20.63 was 0.3 seconds ahead of the runner-up from Texas Tech.
Michael Simcho, Tarleton State University, competed at the ASU David Noble Relays and won a gold medal in the
1500-meter run with a time of 3:58.46, which marks a new career best for the sophomore.
Javier Lopez, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, was the fastest man in the 110-meter hurdles on Sunday at the Dave
Noble Relays. He clocked a 13.67 in the preliminaries for an NCAA automatic mark and followed up with a first-place
finish in the finals behind a time of 13.71 for his third automatic mark in two weeks. Lopez continues to hold on to the
fastest time in the 110 hurdles in Division II and is the only athlete to have an automatic mark in the event.
Clarence Cowart, Eastern New Mexico University, finished second in the men's javelin at the West Texas A&M
Classic. His throw of 143-10 was more than two feet further than the third-place finisher.
Rascellis Williams, Tarleton State University, competed at the ASU David Noble relays and placed seventh in the high
jump, clearing 6-4.75 (1.95m).
Danee Bustos, Eastern New Mexico University, turned in a first-place finish for the Greyhounds in the 200m dash at
last weekend's West Texas A&M Classic. Her time 24.15 was more than .50 better than the runner-up. She also was the
runner-up in the 400m dash (59.07) missing first place by just 0.07 seconds and led the Hounds' 4x100 relay team to a
fourth-place finish.
Imani Williams, Tarleton State University, competed at the ASU David Noble Relays in Angelo. Williams won gold in
the 5000-meter run after clocking a season best 18:35.92.
Minna Svaerd, Texas A&M University-Commerce, put up two provisional qualifying times at the David Noble Relays.
Her time of 1:00.27 in the 400 meter hurdles is the second-best in the LSC and fifth-best in the nation this season. She
also ran the first leg of the 4x400 meter relay that set a school record and the fourth-fastest time in the nation at
3:42.04. Additionally, she earned a provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault at 12-2.25 (3.72m), which is tied for the
highest in the LSC and 13th-highest in the nation this season.
Irene Almarcha-Conejero, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, was the fastest Javelina on the women's side with a
NCAA provo mark of 13.98 in the 100 meter hurdles for a third-place finish in the event. It is the first provisional mark in
the track events for the Javelina women's program.
Adilene Adame, Eastern New Mexico University, set a Greyhound record in the hammer throw at last weekend's
West Texas A&M Classic. She threw the hammer 160-7 to finish sixth.
Jasmine McQuirter, Tarleton State University, performed at the ASU David Noble Relays this past weekend.
McQuirter finished fifth in long jump with a leap of 18-4.5 (5.60m).
Jasmine Roberts, Texas A&M University-Commerce, earned a provisional qualifying mark, the longest mark in the
LSC, and the third-best mark in the nation in the women's triple jump at the David Noble Relays at 39-11.5 (12.18m).
Racheal Somoye, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, obliterated the Javelina women's hammer throw record with her
provisional mark of 195-3 (59.52m) at the Dave Noble Relays to finish in first place in the event. The old record was
broken by nearly 30 feet, as she now owns the second farthest distance reached in the hammer throw in Division II for
the year.

Marcus Parker and Danee Bustos registered first-place performances for the Eastern New Mexico University outdoor
track & field team at the West Texas A&M Classic. Hannah Cabledue and Adilene Adame also set program records in the

4. pole vault and hammer throw, respectively. In all, the Greyhounds registered 15 top-five finishes and 22 top-ten
performances for the weekend. The performances led both ENMU teams to sixth-place finishes in the team standings.
The Classic featured 16 women's teams and 14 men's teams. Parker finished the 200m dash with a time of 20.63, while
Bustos completed the women's 200m with a time of 24.15. Neither time is eligible for NCAA Qualification or ENMU
records, due to excessively windy conditions. Cabledue registered a team-record height of 10'6.0" in the women's pole
vault to place fourth. Adame's team-record throw 160'7" in the hammer earned sixth-place in the event. The Eastern
New Mexico University track & field team will return to action on Saturday, April 14, for the New Mexico Junior College
Ross Black Invitational.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce track and field teams had a stellar meet in the weather-delayed David Noble
Relays, earning an automatic qualifying mark and 16 provisional qualifying marks, as well as setting three school records.
In the team standings, the women's team placed second with 121.5 points, while the men's team placed fifth with 102.5
points. Malcolm Woods earned a trip to Charlotte in May with his automatic qualifying time of 10.24 seconds in the 100
meter dash, which is the third-fastest time in the nation. D'lance Sharp set a school record in the men's 400 meters at
46.85 seconds, which is the second-fastest time in the nation and a provisional qualifying mark. Hailey Wanoreck set a
school record in the women's hammer throw at 57.81 meters (189-8), besting her own previous record by nearly five
meters. The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Minna Svaerd, Joy Spann, Ro'nisha Simpson, Kamryn McKee ran the
baton around the track in 3:42.04, setting a school record with the fourth-fastest time in the nation this season. Other
student-athletes in the top five in the nation in the meet were Jasmine Roberts in the women's triple jump at 12.18
meters (39-11 ) for the third-longest mark in the nation, Rashard Clark in the men's 200 meters at 20.95 seconds for the
third-fastest time in the nation, and Svaerd in the women's 400 meter hurdles at 1:00.27 for the fifth-fastest time in the
nation. The Lions will return to Commerce and host the East Texas Invitational on Saturday, April 14.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelina track and field programs had a successful weekend at the Dave Noble Relays, started by Johnathan Harper's
new school record in the decathlon at 6,873 for an NCAA provisional mark. The second-ranked men's program had
several solid performances from some of the nation's best as Richard Cervantes bettered his NCAA AQ mark in the shot
put at 62-2.5 (18.96m). Greaves leapt to a 25-11 (7.90m) AQ mark in the long jump for the top distance in the country,
while Lopez continued his dominance in the 110 hurdles with an first-place finish behind an AQ time of 13.71. The
women's program got good performances from Irene Almarcha-Conejero who tallied a provisional mark in the 100
hurdles at 13.98. Racheal Somoye shattered the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 195-3 (59.52m) for a
provisional mark and the second-best throw in the country and LaGae Brigance reached a provisional mark in the high
jump at 5-7 (1.70m).
West Texas A&M
West Texas A&M hosted the 7th Annual WTAMU Classic & Multi this past weekend inside of the Buffalo Sports Complex
in Canyon as cold and windy conditions challenged all student-athletes but the Buffs and Lady Buffs came away with

5. eight combined event titles in the meet. WT will head to Hobbs, New Mexico this weekend to take part in the Ross Black
Invitational on the campus of New Mexico Junior College.
