Cameron University leads the Lone Star Conference baseball standings with an undefeated 11-0 record, which is the team's best start in program history. West Texas A&M University also had a strong week, sweeping New Mexico Highlands in a four-game series to improve to 9-2 on the season. Tyler McKinzie of Cameron University and Justin McAllister of West Texas A&M University were named players of the week for hitting and pitching respectively.

LSC BASEBALL
Cameron leads the Lone Star Conference standings with a flawless 11-0 record, which is the team’s best start in
program history. Teams continue non-conference play this week.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series and three-game series against every other
team. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and 9-inning
contest Sunday, and each three-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday and a 7x9 doubleheader
Saturday.
The overall LSC Champion will be the team(s) with the best winning percentage in regular-season conference
games, while the winner of the postseason championship will be recognized as LSC Tournament Champion and
receive the league’s automatic qualification into NCAA postseason. The championship will be played May 12-
13-14, at the No. 1 seed.
LSC baseball teams are 41-20 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
12-5 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 5-0 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Tyler McKinzie, Cameron University, SR, SS, Broken Arrow, Okla., Broken Arrow HS
McKinzie had eight hits, with three doubles, and a homer in a 4-0 week for the Aggies. The senior had two
three-hit games and three two-RBI games against William Jewell. On Saturday in game one against the
Cardinals, McKinzie had three hits and three runs scored, with two doubles in a 16-7 blowout. Later in the
nightcap, he homered and had a double in an 11-1 win. On the field, he recorded 11 assists with six putouts
at short for the Aggies.
PITCHER
Justin McAllister, West Texas A&M University, JR, LHP, Gilbert, Ariz., Gilbert HS
McAllister pitched a one hit, complete game shutout against New Mexico Highlands on Saturday as he
dominated the Cowboys with a perfect game into the seventh inning, retiring the first 18 Cowboys in order
with a career-high 11 strikeouts and one walk. The perfect game was broken up with a single up the middle in
the seventh inning of the Buffs’ 2-0 win. It was his second-longest start of the season and the most strikeouts
in a game for him in his WT career. NMHU hit just .045 against him.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Ruben Almaguer, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, went 4-7 in three games last week, leading the Javelinas
past the Dustdevils in a three-game sweep... Almaguer finished four runs, a home run, two RBI and four walks
and did not strike out in 11 plate appearances.
Trace Hansen, West Texas A&M University, had another outstanding week at second base for the Buffs as WT
swept a four game series with New Mexico Highlands. Hansen went 7 of 15 from the plate (.467) and led the
team with four runs scored, two doubles, one triple and two RBI. Hansen slugged .733 and had five putouts
with 10 assists and no errors in four starts. Hansen led the team with four stolen bases in one game against
NMHU which was the most for him in a game in his WT career.
Landon Thompson, Tarleton State University, had a weekend at the plate as the senior hit .400 in 10 at bats
against No. 30 Emporia State. Thompson went 4-for-10 at the dish with four hits, one hit by pitch, and five runs
scored. He blasted his first two home runs of the season, including a solo shot for the first run of Friday’s game
to deliver Emporia State’s No. 1 starter his first earned run of the season. Thompson homered in two straight
games and racked up 10 total bases on the weekend with a team-leading 1.000 slugging percentage.
Dirk Masters, Cameron University, struck out ten William Jewell batters in six innings for his first win of the
season after allowing only two hits and no runs. The Cameron senior only let one WJC batter reach scoring
position once while holding a them to a .095 batting average in the 11-1 victory.
Trevor Renfro, Tarleton State University, continued his early-season dominance by keeping the No. 30
Emporia State Hornets in check in Tarleton’s 3-2 win Saturday afternoon. The senior from Richardson struck
out 11 in seven innings of work, allowing just two runs on four hits and a walk.

The Aggies continue to set record books with an 11-0 start which is the team’s best start in its program history.
Along those lines, Cameron and Dixie State are the only teams in Division II baseball who are presently in
double-digit wins with no losses. Additionally, CU presently leads the LSC in batting average (.370), hits (137),
doubles (33), and RBI (81). On the mound, the Aggies also have the league lowest ERA (2.50) and the most
strike outs (113).

Tarleton dropped two of three to No. 30 Emporia State in the home-opening series in Stephenville last weekend.
The Texans will begin LSC play in Canyon on March 4.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville swept South Central Regional foe Texas A&M International at Nolan Ryan Field last week
in a three-game series... Ruben Almaguer hit .571 with a home run and two RBI and Jako Kelm struck out four
in 5.0 innings of work... the Javelinas are 4-3 in 2016.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs improved to 9-2 on the year with a four-game sweep of New Mexico Highlands over the weekend...
WT hit .354 for the series with 45 hits, including 11 doubles, one triple and three home runs, while scoring 25
runs and driving in 21...Conversely, the Buffs held NMHU to just .139 from the plate on seven runs with 16 hits,
two doubles and seven RBI...The Buffs fanned NMHU 45 times in 32 innings, while allowing just five earned
runs...Junior Justin McAllister tossed a complete game, one-hit, shutout, fanning 11 and held a perfect game
into the seventh inning...Nine Buffs hit over .300 in the series and the team had just a 1.41 ERA...WT belted 15
extra-base hits for the series and senior Mason Shiflett had two home runs in the opener...Senior Trace Hansen
went 4 for 4 in one game on the base paths...Prior to the series, WT hit just .186 last week going 2-1 in three
games at Northwestern Oklahoma State...WT moved up to fifth in the NCBWA South Central Region rankings
last week...Senior Brooks Trujillo earned NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week last week, setting a school-
record with 17 strikeouts at NWOSU...He followed that with his third win of the season against NMHU Sunday
going five innings in a 4-2 win...WT slugged .528 for the week this week and reached base at a .406 clip, while
going a perfect 10 for 10 on the bases...Senior Austin Moore got his first win of the season going 6.1 innings
and fanning 11 in an 11-1 win over NMHU on Friday night...WT improved to 23-14 all-time against New Mexico
Highlands.
