Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you
have learnt in the progress from it to the full product?
StartingFoundationPortfoliowe hadtocreate a magazine forour school.The magazine hadto
consistof a frontpage and a contents page.There isa vast differencebetweenthe school magazine
and the magazine Icreatedas part of myfoundationportfolio.
We were able togo roundthe school and take pictures.Unlike myactual magazine,Ididn’tplan
whatphotosI was planningtoshoot and diditall in the space of a single lesson.Mymodel was
dressedinherownclothesdue tothe lackof planningandtherefore didn’tattractor appeal toa
specificaudience.Notmanyimageswere usedandall the imagestakenwere takenbyphone
makingthe magazine notlookprofessional due tothe lackof technological advancedcameras.This
was differenttothe shootI didformy magazine.The shootwasplannedintermsof the fact that I
had researchedvariousaspectsIwantedtoincorporate intothe picturessuchasoutfits,poses,
propsfor mise enscene andlocations.Ihad alsobookedastudioinadvance of the shoot. I took
careful considerationof myaudience whilstdecidingthe location,outfits,makeupandlocation.I
tookabout 400 imagesforboth my indoorandoutdoorphotoshoots.Thisallowedme tohave a
wide varietyof imagestochoose fromwhendecidingwhatimageswouldgobestonwhatpage.
Withplanningmyphotoshootsinadvance Iwasable to thinkaboutwhat locationstouse.I chose to
go to a skateparkto bestsuitmytarget audience whichIwasunable todo inmy preliminarytask.
I createdthe school magazine onPhotoshop,whereasIcreatedthe musicmagazine onIndesign.
Regardlessof Indesignbeinganewsoftware forme touse,I founditfairlysimple togethow it
worked.Withthe helponIndesignIwasable to create realistic/professional magazine.Iwasable to
do thisbyusingthe toolsavailable onIndesignsuchasthe guideline tool andplaceholdersforwhen
I knewwhere I wantedanimage to go but I hadn'tchosenpickedone yet.Iwas alsoable to create
double pagesandfoundthatit waseasiertotextwrap and addimages.EventhoughPhotoshopcan
be usedto create magazines,Ifoundthatit was easiertouse Indesignas itwas more professional
and had the toolsI neededtocreate aneffectiverealisticmagazine.Throughthe use of thissoftware
I inturn broadenedmyknowledge andskillswhenIcame tomediasoftware.Inaddition,Isaw it
easiertouse PhotoshopforeditingimagesthatIwantedtoplace inIndesignasIndesignwasn’tthe
rightsoftware foreditingimages.
AlthoughIhad knowledgeof PhotoshopIhadn’texperimentedwithPhotoshopintermsof makinga
magazine,hence whythe preliminarymagazine lookedsimple.Iattemptedtofollow the same house
style Haydonschool carriesoutwhichis;blue,yellow andwhite.Incomparisontomyactual
magazine a vastdifferencecanbe noticed.Iwas careful whenchoosingahouse style asithad to be
coloursmy targetaudience wouldfindvisuallyattractive. Iuseda fontwebsite tolookforan
interestingfontformymasthead.
I've improvedmyskillswhilstmakingthe magazine.I've beenabletoexperimentwithstylesin
orderto make my productappealingtoitstarget audience whichIwouldsayitdid.

StartingFoundationPortfoliowe hadtocreate a magazine forour school.The magazine hadto consistof a frontpage and a contents page.There isa vast differencebetweenthe school magazine and the magazine Icreatedas part of myfoundationportfolio. We were able togo roundthe school and take pictures.Unlike myactual magazine,Ididn’tplan whatphotosI was planningtoshoot and diditall in the space of a single lesson.Mymodel was dressedinherownclothesdue tothe lackof planningandtherefore didn’tattractor appeal toa specificaudience.Notmanyimageswere usedandall the imagestakenwere takenbyphone makingthe magazine notlookprofessional due tothe lackof technological advancedcameras.This was differenttothe shootI didformy magazine.The shootwasplannedintermsof the fact that I had researchedvariousaspectsIwantedtoincorporate intothe picturessuchasoutfits,poses, propsfor mise enscene andlocations.Ihad alsobookedastudioinadvance of the shoot. I took careful considerationof myaudience whilstdecidingthe location,outfits,makeupandlocation.I tookabout 400 imagesforboth my indoorandoutdoorphotoshoots.Thisallowedme tohave a wide varietyof imagestochoose fromwhendecidingwhatimageswouldgobestonwhatpage. Withplanningmyphotoshootsinadvance Iwasable to thinkaboutwhat locationstouse.I chose to go to a skateparkto bestsuitmytarget audience whichIwasunable todo inmy preliminarytask. I createdthe school magazine onPhotoshop,whereasIcreatedthe musicmagazine onIndesign. Regardlessof Indesignbeinganewsoftware forme touse,I founditfairlysimple togethow it worked.Withthe helponIndesignIwasable to create realistic/professional magazine.Iwasable to do thisbyusingthe toolsavailable onIndesignsuchasthe guideline tool andplaceholdersforwhen I knewwhere I wantedanimage to go but I hadn'tchosenpickedone yet.Iwas alsoable to create double pagesandfoundthatit waseasiertotextwrap and addimages.EventhoughPhotoshopcan be usedto create magazines,Ifoundthatit was easiertouse Indesignas itwas more professional and had the toolsI neededtocreate aneffectiverealisticmagazine.Throughthe use of thissoftware I inturn broadenedmyknowledge andskillswhenIcame tomediasoftware.Inaddition,Isaw it easiertouse PhotoshopforeditingimagesthatIwantedtoplace inIndesignasIndesignwasn’tthe rightsoftware foreditingimages. AlthoughIhad knowledgeof PhotoshopIhadn’texperimentedwithPhotoshopintermsof makinga magazine,hence whythe preliminarymagazine lookedsimple.Iattemptedtofollow the same house style Haydonschool carriesoutwhichis;blue,yellow andwhite.Incomparisontomyactual magazine a vastdifferencecanbe noticed.Iwas careful whenchoosingahouse style asithad to be coloursmy targetaudience wouldfindvisuallyattractive. Iuseda fontwebsite tolookforan interestingfontformymasthead. I've improvedmyskillswhilstmakingthe magazine.I've beenabletoexperimentwithstylesin orderto make my productappealingtoitstarget audience whichIwouldsayitdid.
