The Renaissance (rebirth), was a time in which all art became more personalized
and represented more than we see. There were two major stages in the Western
European/ Italian Renaissance: Early Renaissance and High Renaissance. It gave
patrons a new outlook on art and the world. Styles such as Mannerism, Fresco, and
Parietal help advance art in western Europe. Most of the Renaissanceworks were
religious,or had had something to do with the ancient times (ancient greece and

Mannerism was huge in Italy. One of the greatest pieces created in this style was
Leonardo s Mona Lisa . Leonardo uses mysterious elements for the background, it
recalls one of his other lesser known paintings named Madonna of the Rocks . The
reason this piece is so fascinating is because Leonardo finished very few of his
works. He did, however have a notebook of Renaissance Drawings . Since
Leonardo was an architect as well as an artist, this led him to create some of the
greatest technology man has ever known. They also resembled his ideas of what
the Renaissance meant to him and the ideas he gained from this re birth. Some of
Leonardo s tactics are still used today. Take cutaways for example. This style of
imagery was used long before the age of X Rays. Leonardo was not the only one
with Renaissance Drawings. It was common for a lot of Renaissance artists to have
notebooks full of drawings. Artists usually used silverpoint stylus when drawing in
their notebook. For other works, artists used different materials (ink pen, chalk,
charcoal, brush, graphite/lead). This has lead me to believe that artists used different
materials to create different moods, and to give each piece a different meaning.

Language And Cultural Identity
As an Asian American I grew up surrounded by my culture, food, and religion, but
one thing I didn t grow up and learn about was the language. Soon after my parents
forced me into Vietnamese school around the age of 7 or 8 I grew to hate that
place. The long summer hours wasted by sitting in a classroom understanding
nothing made me constantly complain to my parents. I never want to come back

connect with one another on how losing interest in the native language can cause

Although nobody likes to cut the budget, I feel our budget can be cut in many
different ways. We need to split the budget of the swimming pools in half because
six public pools is a lot for one town and it s too expensive. We need to cut some of
the youth programs like the high school incentive programs because students
shouldn t have to be rewarded to get good grades they should just get them. We
should only have two additional police officers instead of three because two is
enough for this city and we don t want to go over budget and have too many police

In all honesty, she demonstrated off her strengths and proved that woman are just

A Research Study On Domestic Violence
On Wednesday, February 25, 2016, PVAMU s Panthers Promoting Healthy
Decisions (PhD) program held a seminar regarding domestic violence. Not only did
students learn about warning signs and hear testimonies, but they were given a short
personal defense lesson by Professor and Coach Carlos Jackson.
To open the program, the PhD s gave each participant five note cards that described
various celebrity domestic cases. The participants then had to correctly guess the
celebrities involved to win a small prize. Disguised as a fun ice breaker, the exercise
was actually a segway into how domestic violence can start off well and quickly
escalate into a horrible situation.
After the exercise, the PhD s explained what domestic violence truly is by using a
definition by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and defined it as,
...willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive
behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one
intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence,
psychological violence and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic
violence is one partner s consistent efforts to maintain power and control over the
other, (NCADV).
Following the description, the PhD s explained that not only can domestic violence
come in the form of physical, emotional, or mental abuse, but as any type of control

The stop and frisk laws in New York City illustrate Max Weber s idea of the societal
role of laws because it shows how Weber distinguishes the law from things such as
social norms and customs. In other words, Weber believes that rather than create
laws that conform to the norms of society, they are made in accordance of the
needs of a state. Weber defines law as coercive order, an order that has the potential
backing of the full force of the state, (Law, Status, Wealth, and Power 110). A state
can support the law with full support in order to protect what it was made to
protect. The stop and frisk laws are a great example of laws such as the ones that
German lawyer Max Weber described.
The idea of a stop and frisk is that a police officer can arrest a suspect only if they
have enough suspicion that someone has committed a crime. A stop is only allowed
when a police officer observes unusual conduct which leads him reasonably to
conclude in light of his experience that criminal activity may be afoot, (Toobin,
TNY 2013). Some believe that the search and frisk law itself is not the issue, but
that the practice by police officers is what is at question. Constantly targeting
minorities is what the basis of the controversy behind this law is. As the numbers
will show in the rest of this essay, they are the ones who are being most frequently

Today, many people probably would not believe someone if he or she told them the
term gothic had ever related to Christianity in any way, but, believe it or not, gothic
was the term applied to a certain type of architecture that had everything to do with
Christianity. From the style of a gothic cathedral to the art showcased inside a gothic
cathedral, many Christians, poor and rich, sought these buildings to bring them one
step closer to God and saw these cathedrals as spiritual realms to heaven. In this
paper, it will soon be discovered how many things influenced gothic architecture,
what advancements had been made to create gothic architecture, and even how
modern day architecture is influenced by gothic cathedrals. By examining these three
Romanesque architecture was more of an enclosed, brick building, as opposed to
the open, light filled cathedrals seen in gothic architecture. An essay written by

difference between the two types of architecture is the arches; while romanesque
