2. Identity in Cindy ShermanВґs Contemporary Art
Identity is one of the most significant aspects in the discourses of contemporary art.
An artist s identity can reveal cultural and personal truths about them through the
employment of specific subjects, techniques, and colors incorporated into their
artwork. Cindy Sherman, the famous feminist artist, portrays a plethora of different
identities in her photographic works in order to highlight societal issues such as
stereotypes, perceptions, and biases. Although Sherman does not blatantly set out to
become an activist for femininity, audiences inherently view her work as attempting
to cross boundaries and bring forth political statements because of the myriad
androgynous, feminine, and sexist facets integrated into her images. In order to
display the importance of identity in culture, Cindy Shermanrefrains from revealing
her own identity in her art and because of these ambiguous images, she allows for the
identities of her audience to be reflected back at them, bringing forth awareness of
inequality, while quietly calling for the anticipated change of these enduring stigmas.
Cindy Sherman began focusing her creative outlets through photographyduring her
time at Buffalo State College, NY in 1972 1976. Despite her future success with
photography, Sherman had considerable difficulty honing the techniques of darkroom
development. Nevertheless, the real magic clearly displayed in her photographs
began to occur in the very confines of her bedroom few years later. According to

Just as Hollywood heroes before him, he surpasses insurmountable odds with great

4. The Unbearable Lightness Of Being By Milan Kundera
People attempt to find comfort in aligning themselves to certain polar values,
whether they are things like good or bad, order or chaos, or even political values
such as liberal or conservative. In these values people assign for themselves, they are
searching for contentment, but within every human is a battle between the two sides
these two sides are lightness and weight. The Unbearable Lightness of Beingby Milan
Kunderadepicts this feud in the lives of 4 tragic protagonists: Tomas, Tereza, Franz,
and Sabina. These four are in a constant feud between lightness and weight, and only
removing the veil of these human abstractions can lead towards a path for
contentment. The Unbearable Lightness of Being depicts this battle existing in...

Franz, too, experiences a conflict with his weight. He falls deeply for Sabina after
leaving his child and wife, and his affair soon becomes the most weighty thing in
his life. Yet when he met Sabina at the airport. As the plane gained altitude, he felt
lighter and lighter. At last, he said to himself, he was living in truth (114). Even if
the lightness is just something he wants to experience and he is not truly living in
lightness, he is still fighting to become light. Franz has a deep desire to be like
Sabina, and he worships her for the lightness she possesses and he lacks. Kundera
discusses the idea of the struggle for lightness and weight existing in the real world
as well. Yakov Stalin, the son of Joseph Stalin, experienced the highest degree of
this internal conflict: Rejection and privilege, happiness and woe no one felt more
concretely than Yakov how interchangeable opposites are, how short the step from
one pole of human existence to the other (244). Kundera notes that the poles of
lightness and weight are dizzyingly close, and it is this dizziness that drives Yakov to
try to kill himself. The conflict inside him is so uncomfortable that he sees the need
to end his life just to stop it. This proves that lightness and weight, rather than
allowing people to find contentment, only drives people further away from it.

7. Sandwich Bikes
In the world of home exercise equipment, few pieces have been around as long as
the exercise bike. Although exercise bikes (fitness bikes, studio bikes) received a
bad rap for a number of years, being used as clothes hangers, etc., the new versions
are sleek, silent, and easy to use.
There are two basic types of bikes, the upright and the recumbent. An upright is what
most people think of when they think of fitness bikes. The upright is closest to a
regular bike, narrow saddle, pedals below the rider, handle bars out front. On the
other hand, a recumbent exercise bike has a wider seat with a small back support. The
pedals are out front, and the rider is in a reclined position. Both bikes have good and
bad points as we shall see.
The traditional setup of an upright bike allows the rider to more closely simulate an
actual bike ride than possible with a recumbent. The rider is able to stand, assume
a race crouch, or a neutral position. Trouble is, if the rider has any sort of back
problems, especially lower back, an upright can irritate the condition leading to
worse problems. An upright is more difficult to get on and off of because of a
higher proximity to the ground. This can be problematic for older or overweight
people. An upright takes up less room than a recumbent. You may want to keep this
in mind if your exercise area is on the small side. ... Show more content on

Introduction
Libraries are still one of the most widely used facility in America that requires
everyone to be in a safe and secure environment. Statics show that most libraries in
the underprivileged areas, the police had to be called more so than those who
visited libraries in the least deprived areas (Wilson, 2017). The most well known
security concerns that apply to a library facility security is protecting the library staff
and patrons, historical artifacts, preventing the facility from becoming a dwelling for
the homeless, teenager performing vandalism or fighting and persons with mental
inappropriately exposing themselves or reorganizing books due to obsessive
compulsive disorder (Quora. 2015). So, the purpose of this paper is to design and
implement a comprehensive Security Plan of a local Library facility to examine the
problems and issues that might arise. This plan will outline the security procedures
for preventing and handling security issues related demographic analysis, interior and
exterior property, protection against information security and personal security,

Some have criticized her for reacting in an angry manner after activist Ellen Sturtz
interrupted her to ask for full equality under the law to all (Rankin). By focusing on
race, Sturtz overlooks the troubling reality that if you re a strong, independent,
educated, empowered black woman, you are held to a different standard because
equality under the law is not an issue; it is equality under its enforcers and the
people that is an issue (Rankin). Michelle Obama stated that two African American
women, Charlayne and Carlotta, attended school at the time of segregation, for their
own benefit, despite the mob gatherings. According to her, these women, along with
others, paved the way for those who came after them (Superville). Although it might
seem that Mrs. Obama is using her life story and those of others to propel a major
White House push to get low income young people to go to college (Thompson),
Thompson contradicts herself. On the one hand, she argues that Michelle Obama is
using this technique to get ahead with her own strategies. But on the other hand, she
also says that ...what she does is just speak with unbelievable honesty and candor
about what her challenges were. What her insecurities were. Things she did well

how the less fortunate can also achieve their dreams as long as they have
10. Identity Is A Bynamic Process Of Identity And Social
Identity
An individual s identity is a continual and dynamic process of narration in which both
the individual and social partners are involved in formulating, editing, applauding,
and refusing various elements of the ever produced narrative (Humphreys Brown,
2002). It is internalized and revised from a persons selective appropriation of past,
present, and future through introspection and interaction with social partners to
create and maintain a coherent personal story (Miscenko Day, 2015). There are
multiple levels of identitythat an individualmay hold, and these levels interact and
contribute to the way a person defines themselves. A social identity forms when an
individual ties his or her self concept to a collective or role (Ashforth, Harrison,
Corley, 2008). A social identity is one that is shared by members and distinguished
by groups, and members define themselves and enable others to define them based
on the groups to which they belong (Miscenko Day, 2015). A person s social
identity relates to their sense of self worth, as people attach positive value to their
identities (Miscenko Day, 2015). An individual uses their social identity to affirm
their self concept through their social peers, seeking confirmation by expressing
identity relevant behavior central to role definition (Miscenko Day, 2015). Social
identities are also used for self enhancement by confirming both positive and negative
aspects of identity and striving to promote only

the department, there is two paths they can take: they ignore the act or take action.
The government has legislation to protect those who fall under the Whistleblower
title, but unfortunately, the dilemma of whether or not to report questionable or
unethical behavior is an extreme one. Many people who are faced with reporting
or ignoring what they saw often have their jobs, social, and personal lives to

ignorance of something that should be brought up is what is creating a bad
reputation for law enforcement professionals. Law enforcement officers do
complain about the negativity of their jobs, yet there are times, where they are part
of the problems; the ignorance of unethical decisions leads to foreseeable
consequences. Assemble Some Evidence There are many cases in which people are
faced with the dilemma of reporting activities, but at the risk of their lives, people
have often chosen to forget they saw anything. On the other hand, there are people
who have stepped up and have done the right thing, bringing forth change in their

Within a project, the project s success and budget belong to and are the
responsibility of the customer. The Customer should have the final say in regards
to what is acceptable and unacceptable in regards to risk and the quantification of
risk. It is however, the contractor s responsibility to be the primary source of
expertise on a project or what they are being contracted to do. The contractor should
offer their opinion and recommendations, and the customer should take their
contractors opinions and recommendations seriously due to their expertise in the
area. Overall, collaboration between the customer and the contractor should be the
ultimate way to resolve a matter of dispute. Members from both the customer and
contractor side should meet discuss historical events, modeling and simulation to
arrive at the appropriate answer. Also, with quantifying risk, the customer and the
contractor should be able to go back and look at the data. With risk quantification,
there should be very little room for opinion and judgment which should make it
easy to base a decision or a resolution based on hard core data. If a solution or an

The doctors could tell if the cells keep mutating or they stop, and they could see if

The evolution of luciferase begins with the LUC gene. mRNA would copy the LUC
gene in DNA and later go to the cytoplasm to do transcription to form the luciferase.
The reason that this enzyme evolved many times in many organisms is because
luciferase could be connected with the other proteins to track where they are going.
Moreover, there are many organisms that would glow. Luciferase is an important
enzyme that would help the organisms glow. Because the sequence of the amino acid

occasion, there would be different color of the light.
This is the genetic mutation happening during the translation. When there is one

Research Ethics
This essay is aimed at my fellow students and tries to explain using some different

Research ethics involves concepts and principles of right conduct within the research

person s behaviour or the conducting of an activity (Oxford). This is especially true
within research ethics as this research is a public trust that must be ethically

failing to follow the engineer s directions and/or designs causing possible harm. This
duty should annul all or any duty to a client or the employer as it may put people in
harms way. As an engineer they may face some penalties, or have their license taken

20. Benjamin Franklin s Accomplishments
There are many role models in the world deemed smart, wise, and even
revolutionary. Although only a few people have the honorary award role model ,
there is however one person who stands out and is is not just a role model, but an
inspiration, which is none other than Benjamin Franklin. One of Franklin s jobs
included being a scientist where he conducted many life changing experiments which
changed how society thought of science. Science experiments are not simply just for
research and tests, but also for inventions, which leads to explain about Franklin s
revolutionary job as an inventor, which lead him to invent a plethora of inventions
that is still used today that changed the world. Finally, along with a scientist and an
inventor, he was also a prestigious politician and statesman who was mainly
responsible for being a delegate who helped sign the Paris Treaty and end the
Revolutionary war, which joined the United Statestheir freedom. In conclusion

Running Head: SYSTEMS SAFETY IN VEHICLE MAINTENANCE SHOP
Systems Safety in Vehicle Maintenance Shop

ABSTRACT
In order to employ the concepts of any system safety; we have to understand the
notion behind it. In summation, we also ought to know what systems safeties are and
what they strive to act in a given establishment. For instance, in RAF Mildenhall
VehicleMaintenance Flight, a lot of procedures are used in the day to day activities
all with one goal of defending the overall combat mission. Any system safety applied
to this trajectory has the cardinal aim of identifying, eliminating or controlling and
documenting any risks/hazards arising from the workshop.
Vehicle Maintenance Flight is responsible for maintaining 573 vehicles valued at
$49.1 million bucks. To alleviate the workload and better serve the base, the flight is
further split into seven elements each with its own separate shop and or space. These
components, work on different types of vehicles which directly or indirectly support
different base missions. The management holds the overall obligation of training and
implementing safety systems applicable to each shop each identifying particular
hazards and risks and ways to prevent or mitigate them. Reducing systems losses and
prevention of mishaps is the overall goal of system programs developed for the
Vehicle Maintenance shop.
This report will talk about the procedures involved in

Harry Potter s Development of Friendships
The novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone by J.K. Rowling, is a story about
an orphan named Harry Potter who is sent to live with his relatives, the Dursleys.
For the first ten years of his life, Harry is hated and ignored by his Aunt Petunia and
Uncle Vernon. Harry has never experienced a friendship with anyone until the day he
is sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Throughout the school year,
Harry develops a balance of friendship between Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and
Neville Longbottom. Each of them, has a need to belong somewhere. Together, they
form a balance that make them each feel wanted in way that they have never known
until they meet each other. On ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They both give each other strength to do things they would never do. Near the end
of the book, Harry, Hermione, and Ron is going through multiple tests to get to the
Sorcerer s stone. Ron exclaims, That s chess. You ve got to make sacrifices! I ll
take one step forward and she ll take me that leaves you free to checkmate the king,
Harry (283)! Ron risks his life and safety to help his friends, something he would of
never did at home. Ron always thinks he is shadowed by his brothers. Ron fears he
can never live up to his brother s history as heroes. Ron all along has courage that
he does not find out until he is finally recognized by Dumbledore who announces,
for the best played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years, I award
Gryffindor fifty points (305). Ron and Harry helps each other find their strong points
as their friendship grow stronger too.
Hermione Granger begins as book smart student. As the school year progresses,
Hermione and Harry help each other with their strengths and abilities. Upon

There are many variables that directly and indirectly impact the choices people and
individuals make. These complex connections make tracing patterns of behavior and
decision making complicated. The information I ve learned, digested and applied is
relevant, important and I would argue, earth shattering. Sharing this information with
others is complex; with many attitudes and priorities already made before discussions
happen. I think this is one of the complicated things about teaching issues regarding
the environment some students don t form their own opinions after learning and
discussions. Instead, they walk in with their parents opinions and remain closed to
thinking differently or reevaluating their thoughts. Scare tactics can... Show more

she raised alarms on multiple environmental issues creating change that has
permeated world wide. Students connect with these environmental leaders and the
lives they have led in positive ways. Another key part regarding role models is that
there are so many from multiple cultures and genders. I feel that there is strong
cultural representation in these environmental leaders; therefore, students can
connect with someone their age, someone from their culture or someone
completely different. Personally, I have grown from the content of this class.
With the holiday season coming up, I ve thought a great detail about the
commercialization of everything. I am focusing on consuming less, purchasing
less and being more creative about what I think I need. Americans spend $882 on
average for holiday shopping (2015, 2015). Even though $882 is beyond our
holiday budget, it brings to light consumerism as an epidemic for many Americans.
In a survey from the Center of the New American Dream, 70% Americans would
welcome a smaller focus on gift giving (Simplify, n.d.). My concerns grow beyond
just purchasing things. From Thanksgiving to New Year s Day, household waste

The Impact Parental Incarceration on Children s Development and Attachment Style
The greatest threat to a child s well being in the United States is parental
incarceration The Sentencing Project. A 500% increase has made The land of the
Free the top country in the world for housing inmates in its correctional facilities,
with more than 2.2 million currently incarcerated (BJS, 2011). Excusing one s views
on the appropriateness of the justice system and incarceration, it is evident that
parental imprisonment disrupts the relationship between a parent and a child
tremendously. In addition to the absence of nurturance, economic stresses are
heightened which can cause the remaining family to become unstable. Because there
has is not a lot of research dedicated to the wellbeing of children who have a parent
incarcerated, it is vital that more attention be paid to the nations children. Our goal in
this paper is to examine the impact of parental incarceration on children s
development and attachment style.
The background literature for this topic has been subdivided into three categories. To
understand the impact of incarceration we must first look at the parent child
relationship, warm parental interactions are associated with effective problem solving
in adolescence and adulthood, while hostile interactions are associated with
destructive adolescent behavior (Ge, Best, Conger Simons, 1996a; Rueter conger,
1995). We must observe the
27. The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas By Ursula Leguin
In the idea of utilitarianism, people will sacrifice themselves for the betterment of
others lives, sometimes willingly and sometimes unwillingly. Ursula LeGuin, the
author of The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas, utilizes this idea to express how
the society in Omelas is able to ensure happiness and perfect lives while one child
suffers. This is the price that they pay, seemingly unknowingly unless they are a
certain age, to have a utopian society. When someone finds out about why they live
in such bliss, they are left with a choice; stay in Omelas knowing that the child must
suffer for their, and everyone s, happiness, or, to leave Omelas unknowing of what
their life might entail. Today, society shows ways that we truly fulfill the idea... Show

Generally, the answer would come out as yes, but human behavior tends to lean
more towards no. LeGuin states in her passage that [h]appiness is based on a just
discrimination of what is necessary, what is neither necessary nor destructive, and
what is destructive (page 173, paragraph 5). This is that we mainly find true
happiness when in the middle state and it feels comfortable. It isn t necessary, but it
isn t destructive to those involved. But, when looking at human behavior still, we
personally define these terms in a more selfish way. William James expresses an
ideal that, [o]ne could not accept a happiness shared with millions if the condition of
that happiness were the suffering of one lonely soul. But when we dissect this ideal
it needs a bit more critical thinking. When we look at happiness, we seemingly
cannot exclude those who choose to do bad things or live in awful ways, because
they are still humans who have rights. If consider that many countries have adopted
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United States has not. The Universal
Declaration of Human Rights includes thirty articles that explain what humans, all
humans, should be entitled to. Unfortunately, the United States, although having
worked on this declaration, does not employ it, but does correlate the rights alongside
our Constitution and Bill of Rights amendments. The main right that is seen across
the board of these documents is
28. How Does Gary Ross Use Mis En Scene
The film, The Hunger Games , directed by Gary Ross, uses the camera technique Mis
en scene which creates a sense of chaos, injustice and sympathy through the use of
diegetic sound, quick jump shots between scenes, use of costume design and high
angle shots.
Ross uses the techniques of diegetic sounds and quick jump shots to create a sense of
chaos. For example, during the cornucopia scene where each tribute is standing on
the podium waiting for the games to start, the diegetic sound of the countdown clock
and the quick camera shots flickering between Gale, the capitol, the game makers and
back to the tributes builds up suspense and tension within the scene. When the came
finally commences, it changes to non diegetic music and a hand held camera which
shows Katniss is being overwhelmed and positions the audience to sympathise for
Katniss as the hand held camera suggests that Katniss is unprepared and gave the
audience a sense of nervousness for the fight to the death about to take place. ... Show

between the two societies as the capitol overflows with wealth will district 12 doesn

Ross had the intention of the two societies to look and be different so this helps to
establish the obvious contrast. This creates the impact and positions the audience to

However, when Russell found himself unable to answer certain questions of a sceptic,
he, himself, passed over into a frigid unbelief. It was then that he met the Seventh day
Adventists, and his faith in Christianity, and especially in the Second Advent, was
restored. 1
Russell had no formal Bible training, but borrowed and built upon various
teachings that were popular at the time. In 1879 Russell started his own magazine
(now known as the Watchtower) to promote his doctrines. Russell s sensational
end of time predictions drew many people and the organization grew. An example
of this would be Russell s prediction that in 1874 the second coming of Christ
would come. This prediction he borrowed from N. H. Barbour who believed that
Christ would return invisibly to the work in 1874 and that 1914 was the year the
world would be destroyed and the Millennium would begin. The Millennium is a
1,000 year period, beginning after Armageddon, when Christ will rule over the
earth. During this time, the dead will be resurrected, humankind will attain
perfection and paradise will be restored. Russell wrote a new Bible for the
followers of his day, which he claimed came to him directly from God. Russell
claimed that to read and understand the Bible you needed an interpreter. He claimed
to be the only one with the truth and outwardly condemned all other Christian
religions. This caused other ministers to work at exposing Russell s

On each side of the valley there are a series of rows that have five holes each (or
more, depending on the breadboard you have). Each of the holes in each one of

pointing away from you). Do you see the small indentation at one end, or a small
dot in one corner? If your chip has the indentation, hold it so that the indentation is

Waste
Every year the planet loses 30 percent of its food, which is an astonishing 1.4
billion tons. This issue is faced by every developing and developed countries in the
world. Food waste continues to grow at a rapid pace as population increases. The
numerous causes of food waste occur at the stages of production, processing and
retailing. Foodwasteis a highly critical issue that affects the world and many should
understand the consequences this issue has on the environment. In Henry
Thoreau s Where I Lived and What I lived For essay, depicts that living small is the
key to happiness. He became close to nature and valued it. He emphasizes that one
can change their lives and awaken to the earnest possibilities of everyday life if
they become nature. One of the main ideas in the essay is that having an excessive
amount of things does not make one happy. This can be applied to food, many
purchase more than they can consume. Thoreau wants readers to value nature and
understand how our actions will affect us in the future. This links to food waste
because more land is needed to produce food; which consequents in forests that are
killed, to produce larger amounts of food that will be wasted. One of the country s
that produces the most food and wastes the most food is the United States. A major
reason is because food is cheaper in the United States than anywhere else in the
world. Fruits and vegetables have the highest wastage rates of any food. The

Pyramid Discipleship Discipleship in a mega church
One of the hardest things to do when you are in a mega church is creating a
community of genuine discipleship and not just a Sunday Church . It can seem like
a giant task to take on when looked at head first because creating personal
relationships with a thousand or more people is a lot of relationships, but there are
ways to do it, and following the mold of pyramid discipleship can be very effective.
So what is it?
Pyramid discipleship is a system set up in a way to where one person will only take
on 5 to 10 (at the very most) people at a time to disciple. And as they continue in their
discipling there will be others above them to disciple them as they go. When you
actually look at this inside of the church it becomes clearer and easier to
understand. At the top of the pyramid would be the senior pastor, a maybe some of
the elders or other staff members. Moving down the pyramid would be the staff that
would oversee the discipleship program. Weather this be one or two people, this is
where the discipleship starts. These leaders will be discipled by the elders or senior
pastor, this is including not only questions about the program but also walking with

This will also be available for the leaders to hold for their own groups. We wanttrue,

The primary focus of HRM strategy is the manner in which the HR department aligns
general activities, policies and procedures with the opportunity imperatives of the
organization. Such relevant HRM expertise constitutes nothing less than a powerful
strategic opportunity. Methodology The original purpose of the audit s companion
review of the literature was to find other empirical studies of the airline industry
regarding HRM practices, from an applied perspective, with which to compare and
contrast the results of the audit presented later in this article. None were found. This
is consistent with the findings of other researchers. M. L. Thomas (1997), author of
the book, A Portfolio ManagementApproach to Strategic Airline Planning, comments
on the scarcity of research in the area of airline management. In reviewing the
literature on international aviation, it is clear that researchers tend to analyze the
industry at a macro level. Although it has gained much attention recently . . . the
topic of international commercial airline management suffers from a lack of
theoretical and empirical work, and the scarcity of literature from a microeconomic
perspective. According to J. Eaton (2001), author of the book, Globalization and
Human Resource in the Airline Industry, research is particularly difficult because
Airline managers are even more secretive and defensive about academic research than

If someone were to talk about a home , there could be many different things that
would come to mind. Home is defined as a house, apartment, or other shelter that is
the usual residence of a person, family, or household ( Home ). Depending on the
person and the type of environment they grew up in, you would most certainly get
many different answers. In my opinion, home isn t just a place that you live in, but a
place of peace and acceptance, and a place that you share with your family. A good,
simple quote that represents this is home is where the heart is Pliny the Elder (
Home Quotes ). There are many aspects of a home that can all play a role on your
very own personal identity, like concrete things such as the building itself and the
geographical location, to even the more mental things such as the social environment
in your household. Everything that makes up the environment of your home,
plays a very big role in the way it shapes your life and personal identity. I currently
reside in my mom s house in Prescott, Wisconsin. She is the only parent in my
household because my parents divorced four years ago. When I was born, I lived
in Apple Valley, Minnesota. When I went into kindergarten, my family moved to
Farmington, Minnesota, and by the time I was in fourth grade, I made my way to
Prescott. All of this moving around was due to my dad and his job. Sometimes, I

38. Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances
There are both similarities and differences, when referring to checks and balances
and separation of powers. Both have to do with the Government. But separation of
powers is a model of government in which different parts of the government are in
charge of different tasks; in the United States, these parts are known as the
Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Checks and balances is a means of trying to
ensure that these three parts of government stay equal, and that one does not try to
take over another.
Separation of powers was first introduced as a government model in ancient Greece,
and was used largely in the Roman republic. Under this Government model, the state
is divided into separate and independent entities. The normal ... Show more content

Checks and balances does not separate the powers, rather it expands off of it. Checks
and balances gives each entity of government a different advantage over the other.
Some examples are:
1.The president can veto laws, but congress can overrule the veto with 2/3rd vote.
2.The president and congress could agree on a law, but the supreme court can rule it
unconstitutional.
3.Congress can pass laws, but the president has the option to veto them.
4.The president can appoint judges and other officials, but the senate must approve of
them first.
There are many real life examples of checks and balances being used in the US.
Take Andrew Jackson for example. He vetoed over 20 bills after the civil war!
Another one would be in 1936, when the Supreme Court declared the NIRA and the
AAA, which were 2 new deal programs passed during the Roosevelt administration
unconstitutional. After the civil war, congress also overrode over 20 presidential
votes!
There are no clear similarities and differences between separation of powers and
checks and balances, because checks and balances expand off of the idea of
separation of powers. Checks and balances relies on the idea of separation of powers,

I believe that King Philip II of Spain was a great King and the idea of The Spanish
Armada was a good idea that he had come up with. The Spanish Armada is about a
boat that set sail in July 1588 by the Spanish, and it was ordered by the catholic
King Philip II of Spain to invade England and take down the protestant Queen
Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth I, was catholic but then became protestant. The Church
did not like her decision and they wanted her to become catholic again, so the Pope
encouraged King Philip II of Spainif he could try to make England catholic again.
King Philip agreed to do what the Pope had asked of him. For years, Philip was in
need of a Queen and since Elizabeth was not wed, he proposed to Elizabeth over
and over again, but Elizabeth wanted to make all the decisions and Elizabeth did
not nor did she ever get married, the main reason was because she did not want a
man to tell her what to do, she did not want to marry someone who was in need of
a Queen, but for someone who truly loves her for her. I do not want a husband who
honours me as a queen, if he does not love me as a woman. So she declined all of
Philip s marriage proposals. Philip s task for the Spanish Armadawas to overthrow
protestant England lead by their protestant Queen, Elizabeth I. Philip s plan for the
Spanish Armada was to swing the fleet by the Netherlands, pick up his army there,
and transport them across the English Channel for a ground invasion.

performer to play the particular section of the piece.
EXAMPLE 4 Concerto RV 522 and BWV 593/III/76 79
In a harpsichord concerto in F major BWV 978 there is only one section in which
Bach modified the violin figure based on the repeated notes and changed it to a more
harpsichord like figuration with the repeated note at the top. The short and airy tone
of the harpsichord allows, unlike the organ, to easily assimilate the violin parts.
EXAMPLE 5 (BWV 978 / III / 56 71)
Let s now talk about the most important changes changes in the texture.
Bach made the texture more dense by using the motives more often. When it comes
to the organ concerto, it meant adding extra voice in the middle
EXAMPLE 6 Concerto RV 522 and BWV 593/I/6 8
41. As we can see, Bach added a semiquaver motive that works as an imitation to the
middle voice (marked with a) and also added a broken chord motive in the middle
voice that is followed by the original motive in the top voice (marked with b). Thanks

43. The Deterioration Of The Aristotelian Worldview
The deterioration of the Aristotelian worldview began around the time of the
Reformation of the Catholic Church. The reformation of the Catholic Church up until
this time had been in control of the teachings and discoveries at that time until Martin
Luther questioned the Church and its teachings. Luther had brought to people s
attention how controlling the Church was over what was being taught and the people
began to realize that there could be more out in the world to discover. People began
to become curious and wanted to read the Bible and think for themselves. Along with
the Reformation, the pushing of the Muslims from the East created an opportunity of
scientific discoveries to occur. The Muslims had caused the people to move and take
ancient books with them that contained different philosophical discoveries from
scientist such as Hippocrates, Galen, Euclid, etc. Scientist were amazed at the
discoveries and beliefs that were founded and could not believe that they had not
known about them. Reading about their discoveries and beliefs caused scientist to
build off of what the early philosophers had founded. Scientists that played important
roles in the deterioration of the Aristotelian worldview was Nicolas Copernicus,
Johannes Kepler, and Galileo. These men put forth information that early men of
astronomyand philosophy could not imagine and the advancement in technology was
to thank for that.
Nicolas Copernicus realized that the Ptolemaic system did an awful job of
44. A Little Night Music By Madeleine Nachtmusik
Surrealist artist, Dorthea Tanning, painted Eine Kleine Nachtmusik ( A Little Night
Music ) in 1943, Tate, London, England. The medium of Eine Kleine Nachtmusik is
oil on canvas, and measures 16 Г— 24 . The oil painting focuses on a monumental
life like sunflower, and two young girls upstairs, in the middle of a hotel corridor.
The setting is illusionistic, so real, as if someone could just jump in. The bright
yellow sunflower stands out and becomes the focus of the work. The space feels
open, but at the same time seems to be taken over by the colossal sunflower. The color
of the paintingis mainly dark which contributes to the shift of a lingering creepy
energy. At first glance the sunflower appears to be ordinary, arguably, looking into

The artist s brushstrokes are invisible. When one first looks at the painting one
cannot help but see a momentous sunflower centered as the focal point of the
painting. My first impression is how beautiful and delicate the flower is. It has
large silky golden petals, and organic shaped leaves, which spread onto a larger
bloody red colored carpet. Upon closer inspection, the sunflower is missing some
of its petals. its head drapes onto the stairs, while its stem falls near a small dark
haired girl.Continuing onto the middle ground, A short dark haired girl appears
tense and distressed as she stands before the colossal sunflower. The distorted
scale of the flower seems supernatural, as flowers in real life are not that size. The
dark haired girl is confined and wrapped in a prickly piece of green stem. Her brown,
wavy textured hair, stands straight up as if a whirlwind of gust has rushed by. Her
dress is torn, tattered pieces dance around her. Switching to the background,
nearby, a taller blonde hair girl appears just next to the dark haired girl. The two are
wearing white frilly dresses created with curved lines, and although they are close to
each other, they do not seem to be directly acknowledging one another. The Blonde
haired girl seems to be relaxed and in relief as she leans up against a closed door. Her
face is shiny and her eyes are closed as her head is positioned up into
45. Gattac A Futuristic And Dystopian Society
Dystopia is defined as a futuristic, imaginary universe in which oppressive societal
control and the illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate,
bureaucratic, technological, moral or totalitarian control. Dystopias, though an
exaggerated worst case scenario, making a critical and current trend, societal norm,
or political system. The films I have chosen to analyze Snowpiercer directed by Joon
Ho Bong, Gattacadirected by Andrew Niccol both are movies that show this genre of
a futuristic and dystopian society. Snowpiercer and Gattaca show conventions that
convey this genre through a dystopian protagonist who standing up against a higher
power, restrictions upon freedom and inequality(discrimination) in Gattaca the
protagonist Vincent stands up to the labels of valids and invalids and the
discrimination between the two labels in order to achieve his dreams, even though he
commits identity fraud. Whereas others conforms to; their DNAas a way to live their
lives. In Snowpiercer The movie takes place aboard the globe spanning Snowpiercer
train which holds the last remnants of humanity after an attempt at climate
engineering in order to stop global warming has unintentionally created a new ice
age. Curtis Everett a member of the lower class passengers who have been place in
the tail section, leads a revolution against the elites in the front of the train in order to
get control.

46. Fashion in 60s Essay example
If you look back through the past sixty years of fashion, you may notice a pattern.
People may say that the true years of fashion began in the late nineteen forties and
went on through the early nineteen sixties. If you look at fashion today, its almost
repeated the look from sixty years ago. In each generation fashion trends become
based on history and/or important events. in the nineteen forties fashion was being
modeled by the military wear. World War II caused a drastic change in the way clothes
were being made and worn. In the nineteen fifties Americans admired the fashion of
movie stars and music artists. Media had a strong influence on the wordly trend. The
people of the sixties expressed there personalities and emotions through ... Show more

(Keogh). After viewing hundreds of period photographs, about eighty percent of
them feature solid colors, and tight fitting suits for both men and women. Overseas,
leather was restricted to military use, so shoe designers were forced to be
increasingly clever. Every imaginable material was to make shoes, reptile skins and
mesh were the most successful substitutes.
Women everywhere used household items, including cellophane and pipe
cleaners, to create shoe decorations. Everything was recycled, giving rise to such
advertising, Vogue s Make Do amp; Mend campaign. (Keogh). Shoe factories were
told to limit the height of shoe heels to one inch and allowed for only six color
choices. For women, nylons stocking were banned. Magazines and beauty salons
helped out by offering tips on how to paint legs with back seams and tan using
makeup. (Keogh). Clothing was also made to be comfortable. Since women were
replacing jobs for men in factories there clothing had to be loose fitting and
comfortable. In 1947, Dior introduced the New Look , featuring longer lengths and
fuller skirts, they were being to look more like women again.Women s fashion
changed to a soft, feminine and romantic image, this set the stage for fashion of
women in the next decade.
Optimism came about during the post war years of the nineteen fifties. The focus
