The Lone Star Conference weekly tennis release provided updates on the upcoming men's and women's tennis championships, named the players of the week, and reported on other top performances. Daria Panferova of Midwestern State University was named women's player of the week after leading her team to a 4-0 record. Alex Martinez Roca of Midwestern State University was named men's player of the week, going 3-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles as his team went 3-1. The release also provided notes on several LSC tennis programs and their results that week.

TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Alex Martinez Roca, Midwestern State University, FR, Castelldefels, Spain, IES Josep Lluis Sert
Martinez Roca went 3-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles as Midwestern State went 3-1 on the week with wins over Western
New Mexico, Dallas Baptist and Cameron while falling to Tyler JC. Martinez Roca posted wins against WNMU's Zachary
Graboci, 6-2, 7-6 (1) and DBU's Gabe Garrido, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5, at No. 4 while beating Cameron's Julien Aubry-Damon, 6-2,
6-2, at No. 5. In doubles, he and partner Angel Palacios went 4-0, running their winning streak to 12 and improving to
18-1 on the year playing the No. 3 flight. The duo defeated Tyler JC's Drew Brown and Karl Mosterd, 8-5, for the team's
lone doubles win before beating WNMU's Pablo Santibanez and David Vallez, 8-5. The tandem closed the week with
victories against DBU's Gabe Garrido and Josh Williams, 8-2, and Cameron's Luke Howard and Vinicius Santos, 8-3.
WOMEN’S
Daria Panferova, Midwestern State University, SR, Moscow, Russia, Gorokovskaya School
Panferova led the Mustangs to a 4-0 week, going 4-0 in both singles and doubles with wins against Tyler JC, Western
New Mexico, Dallas Baptist and Cameron. In singles, Panferova defeated TJC's second-ranked Kalani Soli, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 at
No. 3 before a pair of wins against WNMU's Nadia Justiniano, 6-0, 6-2 and DBU's Claire Nguyen, 6-2, 6-0. In the final
match of the week, the senior ran her winning streak to 14, knocking off CU's Sarah Frendo, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles,
Panferova and partner Maddie Rowe improved to 16-0 on the season with a 4-0 week. The pair defeated TJC's Oceane
Garibal/Afroditi Tzanopoulos (8-2), WNMU's Christine Roerick/Kaycie Kormier (8-0), DBU's Adriana Carpenter/Michelle
Zarate (8-4) and Cameron's Melany Opolz/Rebeka Velasova (8-4) all at No. 4.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Zachary Grabovic, Western New Mexico, picked up a pair of singles victories and two doubles victories this past
week. He won a marathon three-set battle to begin the week against No. 46 Cameron at No. 4 singles grabbing the 6-7,
6-4, 10-7 win. He then added a 7-6, 7-6 win also at No. 4 against No. 18 St. Mary's. In doubles with teammate Niko Barr
they tallied wins at No. 2 against No. 15 Midwestern State, 9-8 and St. Mary's, 8-2. For the week he went 2-1 in both
singles and doubles play.
Alicia Barbaroux, Tarleton State University, continued her stellar sophomore season by leading the TexAnns to back-
to-back Lone Star Conference road wins at UT Permian Basin and No. 36 Angelo State last weekend. Barbaroux started
her weekend with an 8-5 doubles win and a 6-1, 6-3 win in No. 1 singles against the Falcons in Midland on Friday. She
followed up with thrilling victories in doubles and singles to lead Tarleton to a road upset of No. 36 Angelo State.
Barbaroux and her doubles partner, Sherine Salem, delivered Tarleton's first team point of the afternoon with a 9-7 win
in doubles. With Tarleton and Angelo State tied at 4-4 and only the No. 1 singles match remaining, Barbaroux battled
back two knock off No. 62 Ena Ovcina 6-4, 6-7, 6-1 to give Tarleton the 5-4 win.
Phonephathep Philavong, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, went 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles to lead the
No. 47 Javelina women's tennis team to a perfect 3-0 week at the No. 2 single and No. 2 doubles spot. Philavong started
her weekend singles run with a straight-set win over Monika Cantu from Laredo CC (6-1, 6-0) and followed up with
another straight-set win over Andrea Villalobos from UTPB (6-0, 6-4). Philavong closed her singles weekend with a three-
set win over Maria Delgadillo from No. 36 Angelo State (6-4, 2-6, 6-3). In doubles play, Philavong teamed up with Valerie
Ruiz and bested Chantal Lozano and Kely Oliveira from Laredo CC (8-2) before defeating Villalobos and Eugenia Sanchez
from UTPB (8-3).
Klara Smolikova, Western New Mexico, grabbed the only singles win for the Lady Mustangs when she won at the top
flight against No. 9 St. Mary's 3-2 via retirement by No. 12 ranked Kaylin Kruseman. She went 1-2 in singles and 0-3 in
doubles for the week all at the top flight. In singles play, she has now won three of her last five matches at No. 1.

The No. 47 Javelina women's tennis program turned in a perfect 3-0 road trip weekend with wins over Laredo CC, UT-
Permian Basin and No. 36 Angelo State. The Javelinas defeated the Palominos in a rescheduled matchup from earlier in
the season with a convincing 8-1 win and followed up with a 6-3 win over the Falcons in LSC play. TAMUK closed the
road trip with a hard-fought win over the Rambelles as Phonephathep Philavong sparked the first of four straight singles
wins to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 victory.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin's men's tennis team went 1-0 while the women's team went 0-3 this past week.
The men's team dominated the University of the Southwest with an 8-1 victory on Friday, including a sweep in doubles.
UTPB women lost Thursday to Angelo State 8-1 in Odessa. They followed it up with a 6-3 loss to Tarleton State on Friday
despite splitting the singles matches. The women then played #47 Texas A&M - Kingsville on Saturday and lost 6-3.
Western New Mexico
Playing nationally ranked teams on both the men's and women's side, the Lady Mustangs fell 9-0 to both No. 15
Cameron and No. 18 Midwestern State, while Klara Smolikova picked up a point against No. 9 St. Mary's before the
Rattlers claimed the 8-1 win. The Mustangs fought off a tough start to the week when they fell to No. 46 Cameron 8-1,
they came back to win a couple of points against No. 15 Midwestern State, 7-2 and then nearly edged out No. 18 St/
Mary's before the Rattlers pulled out a pair of three-set wins for the 6-3 victory.
