LONDON
 London is the capital of England. It was founded in the year forty-three as
Londinium. Here are four World Heritage Sites: the Tower of London, the settlement
of Greenwich, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Palace of Westminster and its
    surroundings.
HISTORY
In the third and fourth centuries after Christ, the Romans left the city, but the
trade continued to prosper. In the year seven hundred ninety-six, the Anglo-
Saxons occupied the country and settled in London their royal residence. The
builder of Westminster Abbey was Edward the Confessor. The city reborn
economically and sumptuous monuments were built as the White Tower. After
the victory of William the Conquer London became the capital of the
    country.
FROM THE PLAGUE TO AN ERA OF SPLENDOR

 In 1665, many people died from the plague and in 1666 there was a
fire that destroyed 80% of London. Christopher Wren was the one
    who rebuilt the city.
With the crowning of Queen Victoria in 1837 a period of splendor began.
It is known as the Victorian era.
THE WORLD WARS
 The city was very touched by the first World War, which marked the end of the
Victorian era. But later , when it gained power another World War started and
slowed things back again. Many monuments were destroyed and
    about 30.000 people were killed.
In Pos-war and late twentieth century, in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II came to the
throne and tried to modernize the city. The population increased and a Greater
    London was born.
