This document provides an overview of feminism. It defines feminism as the belief in full social, economic, and political equality for women, and as a movement to end sexism and oppression to achieve gender equality. It discusses the need for feminism to continue supporting and empowering women given that issues of ill-treatment still exist. It outlines four main kinds of feminism: liberal feminism focusing on formal equality; radical feminism arguing for elimination of patriarchy; Marxist feminism pointing to capitalism's role in oppression; and cultural feminism commending gender differences. It highlights two Indian feminist role models from history and discusses international days that celebrate women's rights and ending violence against women.
