Why OGP Driver training?
“Driver related incidents are the single largest cause of fatalities in the OGP member
company operations. It is in the industry's expectations that all companies operating
land transport, or providing services involving land transportation, have in place a
management system which includes land transport operations and is based on a full
assessment of the risk and measures to address such risks.
An effectively implemented management system with due focus on land transport will
yield many benefits, including improved driving safety performance with a
consequential reduction in the number and severity of incidents leading to a reduction
in injuries and fatalities”.
Quoted from the Land Transportation Safety recommended practice
report number 365 April 2005 (updated July 2011)
Oil and Gas requirement
It’s a requirement for HSE conscious OGP operators and their contractors.
Health and Safety standards requires that drivers that visit OGP sites are
required to follow strict driving guidelines.
We recognises that driving in Africa
presents unique challenges
We understands that to deliver the best
OGP Driver Training, qualified instructors
must be used
Oil and Gas companies require a trainer
that must have an instructional qualification
in the subject of which they instruct in.
ADI Fleet Level 5/6
ROSPA Diploma or equivalent in driver education and Advanced Driving
(Gold Diploma)
PTTLS (Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Skills Sector) Levels 3/4.
Lantra 4×4 Instructor Qualification and Lantra Professional
These requirements the above of the qualifications are for UK trainers
only , until now…
Build Kenya -Develop Kenyan Trainers to
further support OGP operations within
the region.
Glen Edmunds embarked on an ambitious training program, at great expense and
time.
4 x Kenyans drivers embarked on a train the trainer program in May 2014
Our objective was simple - develop Kenya’s into trainers and bring them to
International standards that meet the OGP stringent standards.
All four selected individuals passed after six weeks intensive training.
These Kenyan drivers are the first Internationally Accredited in Africa and will
be able to deliver OGP training.
One of the trainers is Turkana.
Africa’s first Internationally Accredited
Driver Trainers
To date we have supported OGP
operations all over Kenya
Nairobi
Kisumu Area
Lockichar Area
Lokori
Lodwar
Lokitoung
The Road Ahead
We will endeavour to reduce the cost of the training by supplying fully qualified
Kenyan driver trainers.
Support the OGP sector and its operations and improve the HSE requirement
with contractors.
Empower the new drivers within the remoter area of Kenya and train them
become safer better drivers.
Help to enable drivers in the regions to become more employable by having the
necessary driver qualifications.
Continually monitor the existing OGP certified drivers to ensure they are safe for
