We all get asked that a lot
and in our case the answer is…
So what does your
company do?
We help businesses be
successful by delivering high-
quality training that improves
the skills of their workforces.
As a leading LGV driver training provider, we
strongly believe in teaching people to drive to
an exceptionally high standard – not just pass
their test.
But that’s not all we offer. We are a one-stop-
shop for a broad range of logistics training,
including Driver CPC, ADR and transport
management courses for your up and coming
members of staff.
Through our Apprenticeship programmes, we
aim to help companies grow their own talent to
drive their businesses forward.
Everything we do is geared towards delivering
outstanding service and results for our
customers, whether you are a large employer,
a growing family firm or an individual learner
who wants to pursue a career as a lorry driver.
Our trainers have worked in the industry
before joining TIR, giving them an excellent
understanding of your needs.
Over the years, we have invested heavily in
our driving school with its spacious, well-
equipped classrooms and modern fleet of
vehicles.
TIR is also one of the country’s leading
providers of simulator-based training, offering
a safe and flexible way to improve your drivers’
skills.

4. LGV licences
The shortage of lorry drivers
threatens to put the brake on the
UK economy.
Through our driving school, we can help you
train new drivers, upgrade current licences
and take drivers from your warehouse and put
them behind the wheel of a lorry.
Our experienced trainers can help your drivers
pass their B+E, Cat C and Cat C+E test.
Not only will we help them pass their test but,
more importantly, we’ll teach them to become
a safe, professional driver.
Our pass rate for first-time drivers is
consistently above the national average.
All our trainers have worked in the industry,
so they have first-hand experience of what
your drivers are going through.
At TIR, we believe in teaching people to drive
to an exceptionally high standard. We want to
ensure that when your drivers take to the road,
they are fully equipped to handle your fleet
safely and efficiently.
We recommend that all our customers
undertake a driver assessment before they
start their lessons. The assessment is optional
but it allows our trainers to accurately evaluate
the number of lessons needed before they
take their test.
For the training, we use full-sized, loaded
vehicles. We can also look after all the small
details such as booking medicals and
organising theory tests.

7. The Destination for Logistics Training
This unique service allows you to
spread the cost of training your drivers
and helps ensure your training stays
on track.
CPC + customers sign up for five years
and make a direct debit payment every month,
depending on the number of drivers you have
on your books.
Our staff will keep a record of what training
has been completed, remind you when your
next driver is due and keep you updated
on forthcoming dates so you can plan ahead.
The price is fixed for five years – future
proofing you against any price rises. The direct
debit is adjusted every financial year to
ensure you are always paying the appropriate
amount.

“When we embarked on the
introduction of a corporate Driver
CPC program we faced many
challenges both in planning and
implementation. TIR’s knowledge
and experience in the training field
proved invaluable to get this program
off the ground. We view our
relationship as a partnership with
common goals and every year we
streamline the administration burden
so that we can all concentrate fully on
the most important thing, which is the
content and quality of the training
provided. TIR have proved to be a
leader in this particular field and I
would recommend them to any
business looking to roll out similar
in-house programs.

Clipper Logistics Group Limited
8. ADR
When it comes to transporting
dangerous goods, you can
be assured that TIR will prepare your
staff to meet strict UK and
European legislation.
This course can count towards 28 hours
Driver CPC with tanks and 21 hours without
tanks.
And we offer online exams for all our ADR
courses, so drivers get their results at the end
of the course rather than having to wait 20
working days.
Courses are available throughout the year
and can be arranged around your business
requirements, helping to minimise disruption.
All our trainers are assessed by SQA auditors
throughout the year to ensure they are
delivering courses to the highest standard.
Covering the vast majority of dangerous goods
transportation, we offer:
• A choice of training without tanks (3.5 days)
or training with tanks (5 days).
• Bespoke training packages designed to
meet your needs.
• Tuition of the highest quality from trainers
with industry experience.
Many of our courses boast a 100 per cent
pass rate.
In addition to ADR training, TIR can also offer
your staff full and comprehensive Dangerous
Goods Awareness training, which meets the
requirement of ADR and carriage of dangerous
goods and use of pressurised equipment
regulations.

10. First Aid
As a responsible employer, you try
to avoid accidents at all costs. But if
they do occur, it’s essential to have
staff who are trained in first aid.
We offer courses that cover basic first aid
knowledge to the skills required of a
nominated company first aid representative.
An Emergency First Aid at Work course can
be completed in just one day and is ideal for
people working in a low-risk business
environment.
Our First Aid at Work course, certified by the
First Aid Awards, is held over three days and is
ideal for people filling the role of
recommended first-aider at their business.
Giving a wide-ranging understanding of first
aid and illnesses, it prepares them to be the
informed decision maker when first aid is
needed.
Delivered by qualified trainers, courses are
available throughout the year and can be
arranged at short notice.

Our Fire Awareness course makes staff aware
of fire dangers and how to avoid fires before
they happen. This course is useful for all
companies and not only those involved in
handling, storing and moving highly-flammable
goods.
Our Fire Marshall course is aimed at those
with overall responsibility for overseeing the
response to a fire alarm. Training will last
approximately 8 hours and will equip the
trainee to lead the response in an emergency
situation involving fire.
Everyone who attends gets the chance to use
a fire extinguisher in a practical exercise.
All Fire Safety courses are available
throughout the year, and can be carried out on
site at your own business premises, on
demand.
For all businesses, a safe working
environment is essential – with clear
fire safety training for employees
required by law.
TIR Training provides three courses related
to fire safety, from basic advice on how to
react in the event of a fire, to extinguisher
operation and acting as a nominated fire
marshall.
Nearly all premises have a fire extinguisher but
how many of your staff actually knows how to
use one?
Our Fire Extinguisher course can be
completed in half a day and will teach your
employees how to operate a variety of
extinguishers used in business premises.
Often a course used by warehouse operators
but applicable to most businesses, it ensures
a good basic understanding of how to tackle
a fire across a business, at all levels.

12. ForkLift
Truck
Whether you need to train someone
who has never used a forklift truck
or send your operators on a refresher
course, we can give you a lift.
A five-day course with our experienced team
of instructors will equip a beginner with the
skills they need to safely operate a forklift
truck in a busy warehouse. Novices are put
through four days of practical training before
taking their test.
For experienced operators expected to take a
refresher course every three years to meet
health and safety recommendations, we can
tailor the course to suit their needs.
Courses can be delivered at our training
centre or your premises, at times which suit
your working demands, helping reduce the
disruption to your day-to-day business.
All of our trainers are RTITB accredited
instructors, with experience of working and
operating forklift trucks in busy and demanding
environments.
All trainees are taught on the counterbalance
commonly used in most warehouse
operations, although courses can be adapted
to train on reach forklifts if required.
Courses are available on request throughout
the year.

13. Our mobile simulator enables us to replicate
almost any environment or scenario.
We’ll devise a programme to meet your
requirements, delivered by trainers who have
the knowledge and experience of handling
LGVs in challenging conditions.
Drivers who have used our simulator have
been impressed by how realistic it feels.
Training in the simulator is available all year
round. We can also bring the simulator to your
business so your staff can practise their driving
skills without having to leave the company
premises.
Bespoke courses can be developed at any
length, starting at just two hours. They can also
count towards Driver CPC if part of a full
seven-hour training session.
Our investment in the latest
technology allows your drivers to
improve their skills without having to
go on the road!
TIR is one of the UK’s leading providers of
simulator-based driver training.
We have worked alongside some of the
biggest names in the industry to develop
courses addressing repeat problem areas,
including driver awareness, fuel efficiency,
accident reduction and rollover awareness.
Simulator-based driver training is also an
affordable way to train drivers to deal with
extreme situations, including tyre blowout,
brake failure and winter driving conditions.
It can also be used to make drivers aware of
the dangers of driving whilst fatigued or
distracted.
