The library plans to continue iterating and expanding these initiatives.

- 5. What our students thought… Hearing someone’s story who is different from how you look, you realise that we are just all humans and want to be treated the same regardless of how different we are. This is something that a lot people need to hear and that’s what I got from this [assignment]. I feel if I was to go back through all the assignments I have completed throughout my three and a half years in college that most of my references would have come from white cis men. Reading from diverse resources has really impassioned me into learning more about myself, my whiteness, and my hidden bias...I assumed I knew how people of colour felt when they experienced racial transgressions, however, I now understand that I will never know... . People who decide to only talk to similar people don’t know what they are missing in terms of openness and self-education. When we don’t use diverse resources written by people facing the oppression, we’re losing half the story. Diverse resources helped me become more educated and informed about cultural issues. This helped me become aware of my white privilege as a white male..
