› Funders are requiring data management plans
• no standard set of requirements or definitions
• often seen as ‘box-ticking’ by researchers .. So NOT a vehicle for culture
change
› Good research needs DMPs relevant
throughout the research process

› Phase 1
• based on the Data Management Plans tool supplied by the Digital
Curation Centre (DCC) : an amalgam of all funder requirements :
o Administrative Data
o Data Collection
o Documentation and Metadata
o Ethics and Legal Compliance
o Storage and Backup
o Selection and Preservation
o Data Sharing
o Roles and Responsibilities

› Phase 2
• explored additional related use cases where institutional subject matter
experts to provide further guidance to funders on their own internal
requirements
• focus broad DMP to specific aspects of the data lifecycle
• iterated profile against priority use cases (ethics, preservation, re-use)
• finalised profile for inclusion in Dictionary
• DMP Ethics Review draft profile added to Dictionary -
