The 1990s saw the rise of grunge culture and bands like Nirvana. Grunge influenced fashion with styles like flannel and long hair. Nirvana's 1991 song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" became an anthem for Generation X. The decade also saw the success of artists like Alanis Morissette. Significant events in the 1990s included the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope. New technologies like the Internet also emerged during this transitional period between the 1980s and 2000s.

Important events World Trade Center Is Bombed Friday, February 26, 1993Suspected terrorists drove a car bomb into the basement of the World Trade center in New York. 8 years late, September 11 takes place.The epicenter was the parking garage beneath the World Trade Center, where a massive eruption carved out a nearly 100-foot crater several stories deep and several more high. Six people were killed almost instantly. Smoke and flames began filling the wound and streaming upward into the building. Those who weren’t trapped were soon pouring out of the building—many panic-stricken and covered in soot. More than a thousand people were hurt in some way, some badly, with crushed limbs.This was important because it started paving the way to the war the United States is currently involved in.
