The fashion trend in the 1990’s started with;
 Tattoos
 Body piercings/ear piercings
 Other forms of body modification such as branding.
Also, the ‘casual chic look’ become popular which includes T-shirts, jeans, hoodies and trainers
which continued into the 2000’s.
Women's fashion was to wear neon colours and leggings and exercise wear.
In Europe, especially Italy, the fashion trend was to wear all black or designer clothes
displaying Italian or French labels such as;
 Armani
 Gucci
 Chanel
Popular accessories...
 Straw hats
 Knee high shoes/dolly shoes
 Shell necklaces
Fashion is related to music because the trends which were popular at the time came from
music.

John major was the prime minster in the UK during the 1990’s. He was a conservative leader and was the most
recent Conservative leader to win an outright majority of votes in a general election. After he was kicked of the
political party as he was too serious and boring. This helped Tony Blair gain favor and he became the prime
minister in 1997, he was able to gain power by hanging out with popular music artists such as Noel Gallagher.
Cool Britannia was a major event during the 1990’s, it is a period of increased pride in the culture of the United
Kingdom throughout most of the 1990s inspired by 1960s pop culture. George Bush became in power from 1989 to
1993
Many wars began such as the first and second Congo war.

182, Foo fighters and Goo goo dolls.

• MTV gradually shifted away from music videos
beginning in 1992 and radio started to explore
different types of music.

MUSIC MEDIA
The technology that was used in the 90’s was a Walkman, where the music was
produced on a cassette.
On the television top of the pops use to have the hit singers in the charts to
perform on the show.
In the late 1990’s CDs players became popular and loads of people started
buying them.
